Of course had to have a local 1/2 pint of beer -very smooth ok by now you realize i am American, so you'll understand why i was not expecting an upscale restaurant labeled as a pub. Starters goat cheese for me and garlic prawns for my coworker. He had rump of lamb, i had wild trout. Came with platters of fries, potatoes au gratin and steamed veg. Mixed desserts 3 minis - tasty Service friendly and efficent. Highly recommended.

The current management has boldly expanded the menu, opened for breakfast, provided access to its kitchen garden and detailed the provenance of all of its staple ingredients. Oh, that more places were like this. Whilst there are two car parks, they barely accommodate the number of drivers who patronise the establishment. The one at the front is backed by an attractive decked eating area. My most recent visit was for a light lunch with a colleague, so we each had a pint of Marston's Burton Bitter, and we had a crab and prawn sandwich and a Parma ham, and mozzarella sandwich, sharing a bow of chips between us. This light lunch was delicious, the service was good and the bill, including a large tomato juice, was £26.60. A firm favourite and we'll be back again.

I have a problem with cheese cooked in food or placed on top of food. The waitress kept me updated regarding any cross-contamination. Checking if certain food was OK. It showed they cared. We were welcomed in which was lovely and seated at our table. Not sure what has changed, but it wasn't a positive experience from start to finish. The service was poor, we waited ages to be served, we waited a long time for food. Once the food arrived we were shocked at the portion size for the price we were going to pay. I had to ask for our order to be taken more than once as the waitress had forgotten to come back to us, we complained about the level of service several times and nothing improved due to being short of staff. The maitre'd was of no value in resolving the issues raised and appeared inexperienced in how to deal with a complaint. Really disappointing as i love coming here for the drinks. The only positive thing were actually the drinks they were lovely and arrived promptly. They even gave us hot water with fresh mint leaves for mint tea. Its a shame to say but i wouldn't recommend this place for food. I don't think this is a one off either as after speaking to my friend, she also experienced the same with poor service before! The only reason this is a two is because they took some money off the bill and the drinks in the pub are good.

It worked out perfectly that we came here on a Sunday; surely, the food can only be as good as their Sunday roast? We all shared the appetizer platter (sweet chilli chicken skewers, lamb & balsamic koftas, tonkatsu-inspired pulled pork croquettes, aioli and chorizo topped flatbread). The chicken skewers were good, lamb koftas very good, pulled pork croquettes were weird and too sweet, flatbread was burnt and flavorless. No chorizo to be found. For my main, I decided on the roast beef from their Sunday roast menu. It came with smoked beef-dripping roasted potatoes, honey-glazed carrots and parsnips, seasonal greens, Yorkshire pudding & bottomless gravy. This was a great roast, or rather, a proper Sunday roast! Make sure to ask for horseradish as it pairs very nicely with the beef. Use the Yorkshire pudding to sop up the gravy (ahhh, so is THIS what you do with Yorkshire pudding...). Service was friendly and very efficient. They also have a kid's menu, so you know it's another family friendly pub.

Menu part of a chain however this chain excels as the food always tastes home cooked... Right value for money and staff always delightful, our server today was Leanna who had just returned from maternity leave, she was very enthusiastic and attentive Food was really tasty and freshly cooked I Had the Sea Bass fillets which were large and plump and panfried with colour to the meaty sides which I like.. The accompaniments were a little on the small side and didn't fill as they were vegetables however next time I would order a side.. This bumps the price up as they are £3.50 Each but probably worth it. My dad had the rump steak sandwich which was as it sounds.. Beer a little pricey as the Perone was £4.50 soft drinks about £2.50 be prepared to spend around £20-25 per head for lunch .

The teenage girl behind the bar gave surly service, and spoke so fast that I could barely make out her words. I had to ask her to repeat the reason I couldn`t order a pint of Guinness and she seemed to spit the words out at me as if she really did not want to be there. After I had paid I stood wondering where I should receive the rolls and she finally said "we`ll bring it over". The rolls arrived reasonably fast but she mumbled something along the lines "there ya go" and promptly walked off. On leaving we walked past her totally engrossed in playing on her mobile. I hope this is not indicative of the service there daily as the pub itself is really quite nice inside but I will never set foot in the place again though. I have since wondered if my initial approach to her was wrong or in some way misconstrued, but I cannot in all honesty think it was. I am always try to be polite and believe the words thank you and please are two of the most powerful words in any language but not it seems in hers We were there on 22nd October 2016 around 1pm. I noticed on the way out of Adams hill, that two other pubs was bristling with customers. We should have gone to one of them instead.
