I got a kick out of reading the review here posted by a beta male who thinks you can catch the dreaded pandemic by handling a beer can that was touched by a stranger. Gave them two stars which is a direct violation of Yelp policy: rating a biz based solely on their opinion on how well the mandates are being applied. Educate thyself, child. I stop in here now and then more to support a local business and to socialize with friends than anything else. I'm sitting outside, in the fresh air, always at least 6' away from the wait staff. Do I care if they have a mask on? Nope. This is a nice little locally owned and operated business. They have a lot of weird beers (ciders, wines, etc) including some brands that I haven't had since I was in the Navy 60 years ago. They have a funky sort of vibe that I usually don't go for but in their case it just works. They are right on the main drag although the outside seating is off to the side. You can still hang around and watch the world go by, chatting with friends in this very friendly and welcoming environment. Better when it warms up, of course, else you'll find me inside. Sandy is a nice little working class burb in the middle of nowhere between Gresham and Mount Hood. Nice stop over if you're coming back off the mountain. read more

The Beer Den is a microbrew bonanza-- about 40: frothy craft beers on tap! Located on the main drag in Sandy. I was mountain biking on Sandy Ridge Trail system and heading back to PDX. I know about this place and stop when I'm in the area. Always wise to keep an empty growler in the vehicle! With so many brews on tap one can get good and wasted just sampling. But hold on there are quite a few barstools and table / chairs to park your croggy self and sit your rump down -- particularly after a fun day of play in the Mount Hood area. Long time customer. I live and work in Sandy. Been going for years. Loved it until some lady in mid 40's brunette 5'2" runs out of nowhere demanding in an unneeded tone that I leave with the food I brought in. Been coming here for years bringing my Wallstreet Pizza inside. Never had issues. There are no signs of no outside food and again. I had just done it about few weeks prior and have been for years. The normal two bar keeps have always been lovely to me and they themselves would have never spoken to me like this. I got No explanation and no apology. Just demanded I leave with the beer I just purchased in hand. Not sure why there was no explanation and what caused the uproar. Never going again. And with my line of work I am everywhere from Gresham to Hood residential and business and will tell everyone about my most recent experience. Go to Scooters, Bigfoot Growlers or Smokey Hearth instead. read more

Beer is good. COVID is bad, or at least plenty of time COVID is bad. Regarding the people working in this establishment, the awareness of COVID appeared nonexistent. Maybe they are not believers. I assume that is the case, as what other explanation is there? They seemed nice enough, but neither of them wore facemasks and it did not appear that they were doing any special cleaning and disinfecting. It was really different from a trip to New Seasons earlier in the day. Dude that rang me up took my can of beer away from me so he could scan it. So, dude not concerned enough to wear a mask also put his hands on my can. Could he not go from a price list, or let me hold it up to the scanner, wear gloves, or wipe the can after he handled it? And wear a mask. So many options. None of them were applied. I just looked it up and there is definitely COVID in Clackamas County. I'm really shocked at what a slack operation this is. They should really do a better job. This seemed like the slackest operation that I have witnessed since this whole thing broke out. I definitely have remorse for going in there, won't be back. I've been going here for about 3'ish years now. It started out as just a bottle shop, much closer than the shops in Portland. Then they added a few taps for growler fills and that was great. But THEN! They set it up like a pub, a bunch more taps, glasses, etc Service is great, beer selection (both tap and bottles) is great. Homebrew supplies are so-so, not the widest selection but decent. What is missing? FOOD. Luckily you can run over to Sparky's pizza, grab a few slices and eat them at the Beer Den, but unless you like peanuts or beef sticks, there isn't any food here. I also think the ambiance could be spruced up a little bit. Change the lighting, the colors, etc. But that is nitpicking. read more

Awesome place for home brews, so many selections, good prices, you can find things stores don't have, ciders are delicious, growlers are $5 to purchase and you can fill them with whatever you want there. It's like a candy store for adults. They have a TV to watch but as for entertainment not much there unless you're with some friends, someone to talk to, your phone to play on or just a good book. Small but nice. Great to have when living in town and you don't have to drive far to get yummy beers and ciders. read more

This place is great, always a fresh eclectic collection of beers on tap. I have also rented a keg here with ease. This is my favorite place to stop when I am waiting for my SAM to Mt. The Beer Den is an awesome place for all things beer! They've got a really great selection of bottles from local craft breweries, as well as breweries from around the nation and around the world. They carry a good balance of beer styles and also include ciders, meads, framboise, and the like. In addition to their bottle selection, you'll find 18 taps which pour pure gold, I think. On any given day you can find a yummy imperial IPA, smokey stout, sweet Belgian or pretty much any other style you like and the selection always changes to keep it fresh and new. Enjoy a pint in their "living room" or up at the bar or fill a growler and take it with you. If you're into brewing, they've got that stuff too--equipment and supplies. They even teach classes on occasion and have home brew tastings open to all. And speaking of tastings, on the first Friday of every month The Beer Den hosts a FREE beer tasting...that's right...I said FREE!
