Well sadly, a couple who don't like police went in and complained about the canvasser. My husband and I had just finished giving him our signatures and out walks the couple who complained about him. As they walked out he asked them one more time if they would like to sign. They said no and actually called him an idiot. I couldn't believe that. Then someone who works at John's walked out and told the canvasser that he needed to leave. The canvasser calmly asked him why and the worker just got angry and threatening toward the canvasser. The entire time the canvasser stayed super calm and polite. The worker told him he was going to call the police, so the canvasser said he was going to walk over and away from their door (we watched him move away from John's). The worker called the police anyway. We asked the canvasser if he wanted us to stick around and he said no and that he's not worried about the police being called, because he knew the police would help defuse the situation. I would bet real money that if the canvasser were collecting signatures for something that couple liked, there would be zero complaints... John's Marketplace has now lost a couple local customers and we will be sharing this with our friends (we were all customers, but not anymore). I would have totally backed them asking the canvasser to leave if he was being rude, but we personally witnessed that he was being completely professional and pleasant. Had the worker not been such a jerk to the canvasser I probably wouldn't even have thought to write this review, but he was a complete jerk when he had to option to be calm and explain his position (the canvasser was extremely calm and didn't need some guy treating him so poorly).

They are women-owned, family-owned, and LGBTQ-owned. They have fun names for their wine like Drop Dead Red, Bad Girl Blanc, Wine Bunny Blush, as well as a Pride line (plus more typical malbecs, cab, pinots, etc). They recently accommodated an unusual request from me. I was able to pick up a couple bottles on a day they're normally closed. They were responsive via text and made it easy for me, making my bad planning into a non-issue. Super grateful for that!

There were six wines in the initial tasting with a bonus moscat. As I went through the six, I was impressed as each seemed to taste better than the last. I'm not a fan of sweet wines and was hesitant with the moscat. But it was "mild" enough that I told my wife that I could drink a glass of it. One thing to understand is that this is an urban winery. It is located in an industrial area--very much a unique setting for a winery. They make all their wines on site and source their grape a within a 4 hour drive. It is a cool spot with great wines. Very worth a stop.

I walk to the back to see if the owner was in. He came outside and buy this time I'm in tears. The owner gives me a song and dance routine. He says there is obviously a problem here and get what you need this morning but you should start going to 10th Ave. Please do not give your money to this place. Please. There are obvious mental health issues with this Greg cashier man. Greg yelled and screamed at me for the last time. BTW I was told by several employees after the first incident to just come in on his days off and try to ignore him. Greg, you need help. The owner needs to take a class on how to resolve conflict. Stopped in to this new wine merchant shop to check out what exciting new experiences had been…read morebrought to The Pearl. I must say I was more than impressed. The shop is run by the owners of Square Deal of NW which has closed and remade itself into something entirely different. The wine merchant shop alone is impressive. Great wines at reasonable prices and a wine club to boot. I tasted a lovely Tempranillo which I just had to buy. Set me back a whopping $12.00! Most of the wines in the shop are in that range and they are GOOD!. But wait - that's not all.... they have coupled this place with something called KitchenCru. A completely high end commercial kitchen. Huge! All modern appliances, commercial grade. AS Dan gave us a tour around the facillities little snacks and goodies for us to taste were offered. Yummy stuff. And again - that's not all. They have also created several function rooms. So the opportunities here are endless. You can host functions, you can do cooking classes, you can do corporate bonding cooking event, you can have parties. It is lovely. I've had obscure French reds, clean, crisp Rieslings, vibrant Chianti, and so much more recommended here, and enjoyed every pick. They have great wine clubs offering even better pricing on adventurous or collectible bottles and always seem to have some special half case on sale. For me though, what really makes them shine is the selection and excellent recommendations. Whenever I need a quick bottle or 3 and need guidance, this is my go to wine merchant.
