Terrible customer service & experience--not to mention inflated prices. So many rules for customers to follow and agree to before the appointment even takes place. I was agreeable to the owner's policies since: I read some good reviews on Yelp, wanted to experience the "zero-gravity" chair since I have back pain, and liked that the rules were in place to foster a calm, relaxing environment. However, these rules did not seem to apply to the owner, Ana, and her family. Throughout my 2.5+ hour appointment for a manicure & pedicure, I was treated to the loud conversations had by Ana, her mom & her sister--so much for a zen spa experience.
There was also a no-phone policy that I had to agree to but did not seem to apply to Ana and her ilk, as her sister had speakerphone conversations and played music from her phone. My nail tech, Cheyenne, was decent but she seemed tired and rushed. I understand that my appointment was booked toward the end of the day, but I had inquired about time being an issue when I booked the appointment for my two services and was told that it would not be a problem.
The worst part was the pedicure, which I was looking forward to the most. First, the zero-gravity chair not positioned in the "correct" position, which I know because the owner's sister was also receiving a pedicure at the same time that I was and it was just plain uncomfortable. To add insult to injury, Cheyenne did not even complete the service. Although I was booked and charged for the top tier pedicure and manicure services, my toenails were not painted. When I tried to adjust the recline of my chair, I was told not to by Cheyenne without explanation.
When I booked my pedicure, I asked Ana if having athlete's foot on my left hallux would preclude me from having this service. She said it wouldn't be an issue over the telephone and booked me for the priciest pedicure service since I wanted painted toenails. However, I left with bare nails--even on my foot sans fungal infection.
Although Ana was not my nail tech, she made it a point to put me on blast and offer her unsolicited "medical advice" that I should not be putting anything on my nails or foot and that it looks like my toe might need to be amputated. Crazy since I had just visited a podiatrist less than 2 weeks prior to this visit and was told to apply some anti-fungal ointment to my affected toenail. But I guess Ana learned more in her 400-hour aesthetician program than my podiatrist did in his four years of podiatry school.
I asked about being charged for a service (nail painting) that I did not receive and was given attitude. It was a long, exhausting experience and I just wanted to leave that place and get ready for work since I work the night shift as a nurse (again, thanks for the onychological advice, Ana!) It's been a few months and I (and my 10 toes) haven't been back to this mid at best nail bar posturing as some high-end boutique spa.
