This wasn't where we had planned to eat during our brief stay in Tunkhannock, but, after a very strong recommendation from the staff at Nimble Hill Winery we gave it a shot. Set Up: Super Easy. Hop on OpenTable and make a reservation. It was mid-week and a bit before they opened so I'm sure that made it easier but even though it was beautiful sunny late-afternoon, seating was no problem. One confusing thing - the different seating options. I forget what they were but things like main patio, lower patio, covered patio, patio, high top and standard. There is a lot going on with that. It all makes sense when you see how the outside is laid out, but the first time is a bit of a head scratcher. Service: Things here are definitely designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace which is fine. Our person was there when she needed to be there but if you are looking for something quick, maybe inside at the bar would work better because it was a solid two hours for us door to door. That pulled pork soup thing wasn't bad but the consistency was just....different. Never had BBQ has a soup before and probably never directly will again. I will say this, Beaumont oozes classy and sitting outside on a warm summer evening with a bit of a breeze with all of the flora and fauna of the grounds in truly a treat. I don't see a trip to this area at any point in my near future but if you are up this way and don't mind doing something a bit upscale, you could do far worse than coming here. read more

Yes I am planning to leave this review on ALL travel websites. Since I called the hotel all day and no one answered to hear me now everyone will. No one there for check in nor check out. Ridiculous. How can you run an Inn like that? Also, everyone can heard EVERYTHING between the rooms and frankly those in the hallway. No privacy. Used towels to block the sound. Also the two doors were actually left open to each other and we closed them (lock didn't work and why is it controlled by the other room? Odd) which we though would be good but it didn't help. The rooms - broken chair at desk. Bed was a joke filling left you rolling toward the middle my husband asked if it was a water bed after I got on it. My pillow was shredded and had little filling which ended up with my head on the bed instead due to lack of filling. Shower was nice but there was a plate covering the middle which was where you had to stand. It was not in tight and caused me to fall in the shower as it popped out and that was when I saw that grime under it as no one ever cleans under there. EWW! Lights next to sink did not have a switch not worked. Carpet was not vacuumed between guests which was gross. I can't even with the air conditioner which just stopped putting out cold air mid sleep. read more

SO DISAPPOINTED. Our first time at their wine dinner pre-covid was amazing, so when they offered one now that restaurants are back in swing, we were super excited and jumped on it. We were so enthusiastic we convinced our super critical, non adventurous eating friends to join in. what a mistake. This event did NOTa live up to previous ones. So much was "off". There seemed to be no rhyme or reason for what the Chef chose for menu items this time, and it did not flow. Starting with the table settings, not nearly as exquisite as prior. Ambience is a huge deal. Seemed like only half the amount of people in attendance as previous. Next - they didn't seem to have enough servers at this event. The first time, we were amazed at the speed and grace of how everyone got served pretty much at the same time. Now, they were very slow to serve half the amount of people. So, we were almost first to be served. By the time the other end of the table got their food and we waited for the chef to appear to describe the dish, our plates were cold. The first course, the Tuna Tartare was very good. However, I would have liked the tuna to be served in a small dish with the crostini on the side. It was served with the tuna atop a crostini and again, because of the the slow service, by the time we got to eat it, the crostini was already becoming soggy. The next course, the Pan Seared Barramundi with salmon caviar was probably a matter of personal choice. I'm not a fan of fish with the skin on, so that sort of ruined it for me, but otherwise, it was good. Again, we were served first and the dish came out piping hot, but by the time we would actually eat it, it had lost much of its appeal. Next was Roasted beef Marrow Bone. Now this, this caused a lot of rumblings. Several guests on both sides of us and across from us, (perhaps 10-12) guests were all grumbling about what a horrible choice. Nothing but fat and nothing to scoop the fat up with if you are a fan of the fat. Now, honestly, we once travelled to Manhattan simply to have roasted marrow bones at an upscale restaurant and they were a wonderful experience. This dish here, however, might have looked pretty, but just didn't do well, especially after 2 fish dishes. Adding insult to injury, the next dish was a Lamb Belly Porchetta. Although it was okay in the flavor department, it too was almost pure fat. Lamb fat on top of beef fat, just not at all appealing. By this time, our evening was pretty much ruined as our friends were beyond upset and I was fearing losing a friendship they were so disgusted with the foods. The desert, Rhubarb Mille /Feuille was presented lovely but was so disappointing. You could not cut it with a spoon or fork, needed a knife, which by this time, most people had their knives cleared. The rhubarb that was said to have been sous vide - was tough and stringy. The pastry was not flaky and seemed stale. Additionally, this time, the presentations were mostly boring and repetitive. Last time, they utilized different plates with interesting shapes. This time, same old white dinner plate. Micro greens haphazardly thrown for a garnish. All in all, the entire event was a complete disappointment. At a cost of $500 for an evening out for 4 people, we would have been better to go to A.V. in Scranton or La Malbec in Bloomsburg and simply gorged on a variety of dishes from their standard menus. I can say that if they don't turn this around, this will soon be a thing of the past. More than likely, we will never return to this venue for a wine dinner, but will try wine dinners at other establishments. I've written reviews of the Beaumont previously and I write honest reviews of most places I dine. I am a tough critic I realize. BUT, there are places that have pleased me over the top. I can only rate the stay, as I didn't eat in the restaurant. But, the restaurant was busy when I checked in so, must be popular! First, to check in, go to the front of the building, main exterior door then pick the interior door that says "dining." You'll check in at the desk and the steps there lead to the rooms upstairs. The young lady at the desk was very friendly, conversational, walked me to my room, and offered help when I went back out to my car to get bags. I got the queen room which was small but very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable and they supplied personal amenities in the bathroom, as well as coffee on the desk. Large TV with a nice amount of channels. Not a cheap place to stay, but, I thought it was nice. Had I stayed with my husband and not alone I would have tried the restaurant too. read more

There was very little to find fault with, in fact nothing! Other than we skipped dessert which I'm sure would have been delicious. We had the elk, crab cakes, cavatelli pasta with lump crab, the portobello entree (was like Xmas morning), French onion soup and Caesar salad. The elk was tender and tasted like beef. The crab cakes were in the shape of meatballs and packed with lump crab as was the pasta dish. Very generous portions. The drinks were great albeit a little more champagne was needed in the mimosas. We were there at the brunch hour on Father's Day with reservations but it wasn't full at all. It has a darker interior and a fire place. The grounds are gorgeous with a creek running behind the inn. We went to the Beaumont for the first time on a Saturday evening in July. We (2 couples) had a reservation, and after a short wait were escorted to our outside table. The waitress ,who was charming and efficient showed us the specials. We waited quite a while for our drinks and to order, but knowing everyone is short staffed these days took it in stride. The outside gardens were beautiful and when the sun set we were warmed by numerous propane heaters.. There was a wedding that afternoon and many participants came into the dining area for drinks. The food was top notch (I had Red Snapper with a wonderful glaze) Although it's a long drive from the Abington area, it was well worth the trip. Next time we may stay the night. read more

After all the hype regarding this place and recently moving to the Back Mountain from the West Coast, my wife and I felt that we should try the Beaumont which is one of the few and far between "fancy" restaurants in the Wilkes-Barre/Back Mountain area - which really isn't saying much. Although the service and staff were on the positive side and the atmosphere cozy, the biggest negative for me was the restaurant running out of their special at 7:00pm on a Saturday evening. This was a seafood dish - seabass with crab. I could understand running out of a special at 8:00/8:30pm but 7pm on a Saturday is unacceptable. There should be better planning IMO. The alternate dish that I ordered was fine but nothing outstanding - as was the same for my wife's meal. The menu choices weren't anything fancy or creative. It was a run-of-the-mill selection found at most American mid-tier restaurants. The meal presentation was lacking - no creativity regarding layout or color. The outside atmosphere offers a pleasant view of mountains and woods. The grounds and property are well maintained which added to the pleasant atmosphere. Nothing that impressive or ground-breaking here. The interior is stale and lacking. The dining rooms are decent - nothing over the top. The bar area looks like an old restaurant bar I'd find down in Old Forge. If you've dined in more active and progressive cities in the US, don't set your bar too high if thinking of heading to the Beaumont. In conclusion, a total letdown and won't be returning. read more

We were told EMPHATICALLY NO. Are you kidding me?? We weren't allowed to add one child??? How could you not fit one more?? So we had to cancel and find another place. Beautiful patio and amazing seasonally-based menu. The beet tart and wild mushroom puff pastry apps were out of this world and perfect for an early fall evening on the patio. Great wine selection. Beautiful cocktails. Great dinner for all four of us that went and I ended with a great creme brûlée. Covid protocols were followed well and made me feel good for choosing to meet up with my parents there. If you have a special occasion or want to treat yourself it's a beautiful and delicious place to do so. Reservations recommended!!! read more

Not sure how any of you are calling this food good and putting it on such a high pedestal. As fancy and high-class as this place is, the food is extremely underwhelming. First batch of bread that came to the table was nothing, but cardboard. Appetizers were obviously underwhelming in portion because fancy places have to screw you with portions. Calamari was sub-par, flatbread was decent. A guest I was with got a steak, cooked medium, tasted just like spray paint. Wagyu bolognese I got I don't think was even seasoned with salt or pepper and honestly had no flavor besides the overpowering tomato juice. Service was great, though. Food on the other hand, not so much. Stop letting these "high-class" places make you think they're food is better than your average diner just because they give you towels for your lap. read more

We chose to the Beaumont Inn to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! First, I need to comment on the pandemic. We have not eaten out for more than three months because of the coronavirus. My wife and I were a bit hesitant to go out since we've been so committed to social distancing, but we decided that our anniversary was worth the slight risk. The professionals at the Beaumont Inn were exceptionally careful. All staff wore masks and patrons stayed six feet apart. And yet, the dining experience felt like a normal restaurant (maybe better with more space?). Obviously the pandemic is still a concern and everyone needs to make their own personal decisions on what level risk to take, but based on our experience I felt like the Beaumont Inn did a good job. Second (and most excitingly), the food. We started with zucchini fritters and cocktails and salads. My wife had lamb and I had steak. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Some folks have commented on the portion sizes (I feel like they were overly generous). I was impressed with their menu which had selections for folks like us who were splurging for a special occasion and selections for folks who wanted more casual fare. It certainly hit the right mark! Third, The wait staff was friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and happy. We would highly recommend the Beaumont Inn. The food, service, and atmosphere were great! We especially appreciated how seriously they took the pandemic and yet provided a memorable experience. Bravo! read more

I have to say it was more miss than hit. We went to the first Bash of the summer. The service was a bit slow, the band was very loud. If it wasn't going to rain we would have rather been at a table outside the tent. The food was ok, I had the pork loin and it was a bit over cooked. My wife had a French dip sandwich, while good we could have gotten just as good at Friendlies. One of our party had the hanger steak which he said was good. Another had the BBQ chicken, which seemed over priced for what you got. The pork tacos app were tasty but the meat was a bit lost on the tortilla. I wish there were more drink specials other than vodka based. All in all not terrible, but not rushing back. read more

We had dinner reservations the same night a wedding was out back & things seemed unorganized to say the least. We started with drinks at the bar which run about $7 per for wine or mixed drink. We were seated at the table and given menus. The menu was different than what was on the website. There were items no longer available. (like pasta?? !) Our appetizers were okay, and the soup (as I would later find) , was the best part of the meal. It was very good. I have to say, the salads had to be some of the worst salads we've ever been served at a restaurant. Tasteless and basically just lettuce... and that was the CEASARS. Entrées were less inspiring. Pasta in scampi was not totally cooked and dish overall not cooked through. Potatoes not hot. Portions small. Overpriced. It goes on & on. I can't even find a menu item I'd go back and try (not that I want to) It is a nice atmosphere and picturesque, unfortunately the food is not as good as the surroundings. read more

I went to The Beaumont for my first time on 2/7/21 . It's a beautiful place that I have always wanted to try . Our party consisted of six people and we made the reservations two weeks in advance , we were quickly seated upon arrival . The parking lot has small spaces and there and finding a spot was difficult. I feel that server was somewhat shy but service level was fair . For an appetizers several of us orders the sautéed calamari which was outstanding. I ordered Chicken Scampi for my entree and it was horrible , it consisted of 2 thick pieces of chicken breast that were not pounded as any short order cook would do , the chicken was flavorless and reminded me of chicken that was boiled in water . Went here with a party of 9 for a small Christmas get together. Food was delicious, waitress great, and I would've gave a 5 star review but was disappointed in the portion size of my meal. I ordered a $36 meal, scallops with cauliflower purée and there were 4 whole scallops including one that was half the size of others. I've had more in an appetizer elsewhere. French onion soup was delicious, one of the best I ever had. Salad was good with house dressing but also sparse. For the price, I was not impressed. Calamari appetizer was un-inspired, lacking any taste. Ordered a steak, it was cooked as I requested, medium rare, however it arrived luke warm. The steak was way, way over salted. I requested two vegetables, only served one. Asked for the second veg, it never came. Water glass was never refilled (much needed give salty steak, and oh yes, super salty spinach). Waitress was nice, but a little aggressive with all the upselling. Do yourself a favor & visit The Beaumont Inn! The entire experience was impressive - the ambiance, the service & the food were all 5 stars. The outdoor patio is a beautiful setting. When we were there, a wedding reception was taking place. We got to listen to the band (playing inside the venue) & see the new married couple getting pictures taken (everyone was clapping for them). There is a creek & gorgeous flowers all around. The service was the best I have been given anywhere in the world. We called for reservations less than an hour before arriving. Brandy did her best to accommodate us (much appreciated). We could've gone somewhere else, but Brandy squeezed us in on a busy Saturday! We got there about 40 minutes before our reservation time and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartenders were attentive & top-notch! When we were seated for dinner, we found out our bartender, Jackie, was our server. She was just perfect. Great personality & really authentic! I wish I could remember the name of her "helper" - such a sweet woman! The service can't be beat. I have no idea how every single person was kind, hospitable and genuine. Even the guy who seated us checked on us during the meal. I seriously have never been so impressed by an entire staff. Lastly, the food speaks for itself. I have eaten chicken hundreds of times in restaurants & I told my husband it was THE BEST chicken I've ever eaten. I don't even know how that's possible, but it was. We were there last Friday for dinner with family& friends.first impression was really good .beautiful place especially the patio & the views .Our server was extremely attentive & kind .Calamari & shrimp as appetizers were ok too.everything was going well and we all were getting excited that finally found a place in our area which has good ambiance , excellent customer service and breath taking views and something for the kids to do as well.there was a live band playing.i was thinking this would be an ideal place that I was looking for to throw our party.All this went downhill when the main entree arrived.We had ordered chicken Marsala , eggplant Parmesan , veal Marsala, filet mignon, angus ny strip , salmon .out of which only salmon & filet mignon were eatable .rest of it all was distasteful. .we all were taken aback as our expectations was really high. . read more

The Beaumont is a fabulous place, serving excellent food. It was delightful to be there! I would have given five stars, but the wait staff, while excellent and attentive, did two things that concerned me in these covid times. I'm thinking they just need a little more training... first one, a waitress in training 'helping' our waitress set our little bowl of butter down on the table. Her charm from her dangling bracelet dipped down into the butter. Wanting not to embarrass her, I asked for new butter. Hopefully she won't wear the bracelet to work anymore... After dinner I asked for a box for my food. Normally I always bag my leftovers myself.. the bus girl said, "Oh, I'll do it for you." She picked up my plate and her thumb (with long fake nail, went overtop and touched my food. I was horrified. Am I a germaphobe? After reading so many great reviews I've concluded that we must have just shown up on the wrong night because everything we ordered was bad. The newly renovated restaurant and grounds are beautiful. In the summer, they have live music and dining outside next to fire pits. The food is excellent. My husband and I have been going here almost every weekend. The food is top notch. The chef has come up with some very interesting dishes, using fresh ingredients. Portions are large and have a beautiful presentation. The service is also excellent...when they first re-opened they experienced some growing pains in the service department, but I believe they are all ironed out now. After only going there once, the bartender not only remembered us, but remembered what we drank the last time we were there. Impressive!! I highly recommend this place, and if you get a chance to go, try the french fries...they are AMAZING, probably the best I've ever had anywhere! read more

I can't speak for the food, but the service hear is extremely dis tasting. We called to make reservations the morning of and we were seated in the dark corner of the bar next to the blaring speaker. After sitting there for 15 minutes, we were finally given menus. After another 15 minutes the waitress asked if we were ready to order. We asked if we could substitute chicken for shrimp. Understandably, she had to ask the chef. It must be a very large kitchen too, as she still didn't have an answer 20 minutes later. Instead of ordering drinks, we left. Stayed and ate here recently. This place has wonderful food and character, and my family enjoyed our stay. Note: my family and I generally try each others' dishes. Though this is generally frowned upon by our social betters, I feel it gives us a nice overview of of the food. We are also grateful to the Inn for overlooking their decorum standards and seating us for the night. There were a few stares, but no complaints. Another note: one reviewer complained that portion sizes were small. That problem has been corrected: I waddled off to bed on a full belly for a night of dreamy digestion. On to dinner.... My wife had a wonderful pumpkin martini to start. This was a really cool flavor pairing, but it was a serious girl drink made with Godiva chocolate liqueurs and other chick stuff. I would feel more manly drinking an estrogen tonic. I prefer beer (for financial and health reasons), but I avoid Coor's Light because I also have a sense of taste. So it was fortunate that the Inn also has a decent selection of craft beers. My son's house salad had a spectacular vinaigrette. He claimed that if he knew the recipe, he would eat salad for the rest of his life. Yes, he does comedy. I had a caeser salad, which was delicious but very large. Croutons could have been cut a little smaller, but they were awesomely flavored with herbs and butter. The French Onion Soup was predictably delicious, if maybe a tad salty. My NY strip entree was deliciously seared on the outside,and was enjoyed by all. If I was forced to gripe about any aspect, I probably would have needed a little less balsamic reduction. It was good, but the meat was so wonderful that it just needed a trace of the stuff. The crawfish and alligator sausage jambalaya was good, even though I'm not generally a fan of jambalaya type dishes.The rice was really good and buttery. The scampi was finely prepared with plump and tasty shrimp. Both dishes might benefit from a bit more vegetables (some grilled asparagus might have paired well with the scampi). Portion sizes were rather large. My sauteed spinach was a colorful green...which was all I knew until the end of the meal: why would I eat plant leaves when there was meat? I am not a vegan; why suffer like one? I tried it at the end because it is more likely to keep me regular. It was pretty tasty - for roughage. My wife had the Thanksgiving Turkey Feast. It was perfectly prepared. Oh yeah, did I mention that it was Thanksgiving? Well, I did warn you that we have no class. Dessert? We had no room by the time we got there. Portion sizes are not skimpy. The dining room closes early at the Inn, so if you crave desert at 9 pm, you might be out of luck. The Inn's rooms were quite nice and adequate. It was nice to take a break from the standard hotel chain blandness. WIFI was fine and IMHO, it is much better than watching TV. Staff was friendly and attentive. All and all, I loved the place.
