Got a bad haircut. Not going back. I do a simple cut: side part with a 2 on the sides and a little over an inch on top to work with. This mess is lopsided (left is puffy, right is correct and flat) and too short in front (shorter than the rest of the top, WTF?!!). Can do way better for $45. This place is my jam! As a bearded gentlemen I have been for years trying to trim and keep my bearded wonder looking good. However until I visited here and got a trim I really didn't know what a fine looking beard looked like. Do you enjoy a good hot towel and straight razor shave? Nothing is more relaxing as a man, then lean back and get a nice clean neck. Aside from simply a good cut and trim, now in their new location across from the fair grounds the experience just got better. Walk in the front door, and get greeted with the offer of a free beer. Head through the pass-through and pick out a draft from the bar selection. Return and enjoy your suds while you get that perfect cut. Afterward stick around and drink/eat some more. The Beardsmith is literally the coolest place I have ever had a beard trim. I have been to 4 different artists since I started going there and never had a bad trim, they're all great and are trained well. The atmosphere is amazing with the cool bar next door, and you even can get discount drink tickets for a cold drink after you're done. I have used many beard products over the years, but their beard balm is hands down the best. I'm a staunch conservative and have never felt this nonsense toxic environment that the other clown was talking about. I went in for a Santa cut. We explained what we wanted and had pictures. We called and got a recommendation on who to cut my hair. This was a big deal for me. It was going to be my first ever Santa for charity events. My hair was long gray and perfect for the job when I came in. By the time I got out of there my hair my hair was 3" in length when I said something I was asked to leave the chair. Now I have a mess to deal with. The picture was what I was going for. Over the 18+ months he took care of my hair and beard I transitioned hairstyles 3 times and went from a huge burly beard to something close trimmed back to something more in-between. Throughout all of those changes Chuy had a plan for my hair and beard and always made sure I looked on point. He and the rest of the staff are really fun and were always kind and engaging with my wife, pup and daughter if they came along. Went for a beard trim there twice at their old location. Did a decent enough job. It's something I could've done myself and I prefer my own beard balm product which is organic whereas there's isn't. I was way into my beard at the time so I thought I should go to the professionals. They offer a beer which is nice but not organic so I've declined it each time. The conversation was OK, nothing forced, just regular banter. The pricing is a bit high for the work done in my opinion but I knew that going in. It was recommended to me to get my hair cut here right before I got married, so that's exactly what I did. My fiancé had made me a reservation there, and we showed up and I was totally impressed. Very cool, sort of rustic atmosphere attached to a full on saloon. I don't remember the gentleman's name who cut my hair, but it's the best hair cut I've had it at least a decade and amount the best I've ever had. He also did an amazing hot shave on me, hot towel, cold towel, the whole 9 years. Did a great job and took about an hour, the price was very reasonable, around 35 bucks i think (give or take) and they even gave me token for a free beer! I would recommend this place to anyone, especially if they in have a beard, which I do not! read more

I have been thinking about writing this review of the Caldwell location for a week now. I have not been to the boise location and can not give an honest review of them. Unfortunately my experience with the Caldwell location is less than stellar. I don't like leaving a bad review but I think the situation warrants it. The beard trim I received on the 17th of August 24 was not at all what I asked for. My conversation with my stylists or barber (not sure the correct term) went something like this. "What would you like to have done . A trim I want to keep the length. How long are we thinking, like zz top? No like Gimmlie from lord of the rings." I know I will have to have some trimmed for style and shaping and to look less homeless. What I got was about three and a half inches hacked off. I used to be able to take the hair from the chin and touch the top of my forehead, now it comes up to the tip of my nose. I do fully admit that the cut is well done and looks very nice. He did a fine job on the cut he decided I was getting. But ignored what was requested. So I let you decide consumer if it's worth the risk using this business. I think I personally will look for a new business to give my money to. read more

Decided to check out beardsmith after my buddy went there for his wedding haircut. I was getting married the next day and figured a nice fresh haircut would be great. I booked with Chewy ( I apologize if I didn't spell chewy right) and he was very professional. Overall my haircut gave me a new sense of confidence in myself and I was given a lot of great feedback. Sadly this review will not be a good one..I used to live in McCall , ID and would drive the 100+ miles to go have my beard trimmed and buy products from them, When i moved to AZ I continued to purchase the products because they are great. Recently I moved to Maui, HI and still bought the Products from The Beardsmith it would take no more than a week to arrive. This last order was different..after 3 weeks i hadn't seen the shipment so i called and talked to a friendly girl at the Beardsmith she said she would pass on my info and someone there at the shipping side would get ahold of me...NO ONE DID so i had to email and call again, this time asking for a refund for the shipment ...finally i got an email TODAY saying my shipment is out for delivery...and that they would not refund me. I figured give them a call and try to find out why. I spoke with a man named Nathan who was not agreeable at all and simply said its not his fault call USPS and file a complaint i cant help you and you will not get a refund. So you said it wasnt your fault....YOU SENT A PACKAGE TO HAWAII USING GROUND TRANSPORT the cheapest way you could with NO regard for the time it would take to arrive..USPS priority would have been $7.50 or less and been here in 3 days...cheap cheap cheap. As a Person in Customer Service for 27 years I can tell you that this is NOT the way to treat a customer...As the company shipping the items you take responsibility even if its not 100% your fault....BUT.....This is 100% your fault better to make the customer experience a better one..Nathan does not know how that works read more

The day I stopped by, I must have been there for 15 minutes, talking to the ladies that work there about my husband's beard-related needs. I made an appointment and hour before I got in. My barber Chuy was fantastic. He took his time, was friendly, and made sure he understood the cut I wanted. He explain to me what he was doing while he was doing it, I honestly couldn't be any happier with my haircut . And it was the best experience I've had at a barber in years and the cut came out perfect.
