Lynne and her daughter Malia have the type of kindness and TALENT that one, rarely, if ever encounters in one's whole life. They are GREAT at what they do and what they do is hair! Lynne? She is actually one of the original founders of John Amico's products and has worked with this great line of products from his start!!! And, who does not love John Amico?? Am I right?! Malia has gone on to accomplish many things and is in fact, my greatest friend. I consider her mother, Lynne, a second mother to me! They are perfectionists and are so well crafted in their art! I stepped in here late morning on a Wednesday. Two chairs open and ready to go. I was greeted and…read moreseated promptly by Candace (sp?). Typical questions that any barber would ask. I told her it was my first time in, and she seemed very pleased with that. They were playing good music (classic rock) which created a nice atmosphere. The decor is mostly Joliet and Chicago centric, though I didn't have the feeling I was in a sports-centric place like some chain competitors, and I thought it was cool that they had a lot of local knowledge in the room there. I mean, a Frank Lloyd Wright book was on the coffee table in the waiting area. Old-school comfortable barber chairs, like you don't find in today's salons. One nice thing about this particular barber was she didn't move the chair at all while I was on it. I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but I noticed it. Way more comfortable than some of the people that seem to whip you around on those things. She also didn't invade my "space" like most seem to do. You get the neck shave at the end with a hot towel, which is also a rarity these days and a nice touch. It was $23, which may be a little higher than some in the area for a men's cut. I feel like I got my money's worth here. It's one of the best cuts I've gotten in a long time, for sure in this town.

Since I have let my hair grow out for a bit longer than normal, the girl taking care of me had to use a trimmer to take some of the hair down. Which, was a good touch. Then, she took her time shaving my head. It was a pretty legit shave. I was dozing in and out with how relaxed I was. Talked tattoos, which, is always good. Then, I got my beard lined up. All in all, it was a very good experience. However, even after getting in the barber chair the proper way...I ended up stepping on the foot rest. I got chided. Besides not paying attention at the end and stepping off the rest, place was definitely a good spot. Oh, and, by the time I was leaving the shop definitely had a good few customers in it.
