This place has an old fashion look and feel, as they have been around for quite some time. Parking is always available, right next to the barber shop! Place is well organized, and clean! Some places have very strong chemical smell, but Kelly's does not. I usually call ahead to make an appointment, though I have also walked in on Saturday as they serve based on first come. Folks working there are very timely (I usually come in and get seated at appointed time) or most I may wait is 5-10 minutes, and also very friendly. Though I see mostly men there, since it's a full salon, I do see women there from time to time. I may be going there when there's more men traffic, due to scheduling my haircut around my work schedule. I've received very good and consistent haircuts, and straight blade shave! All while having friendly chat with folks working there. I would highly recommend Kelly's. Cost is very reasonable, friendly service, and they do an awesome job!

I told her it was my first time in, and she seemed very pleased with that. They were playing good music (classic rock) which created a nice atmosphere. The decor is mostly Joliet and Chicago centric, though I didn't have the feeling I was in a sports-centric place like some chain competitors, and I thought it was cool that they had a lot of local knowledge in the room there. I mean, a Frank Lloyd Wright book was on the coffee table in the waiting area. Old-school comfortable barber chairs, like you don't find in today's salons. One nice thing about this particular barber was she didn't move the chair at all while I was on it. I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, but I noticed it. Way more comfortable than some of the people that seem to whip you around on those things. She also didn't invade my "space" like most seem to do. You get the neck shave at the end with a hot towel, which is also a rarity these days and a nice touch. It was $23, which may be a little higher than some in the area for a men's cut. I feel like I got my money's worth here. It's one of the best cuts I've gotten in a long time, for sure in this town.
