My Barber retired a few years back and I found myself dealing with my beard on my own or trying random barbers with varying results either it was ok or meh. Due to a connection at work. I hooked up with Matt. Let me tell you I am thoroughly satisfied. Very professional, I've only told him once how I wanted my beard, I've been 3 times since then, same results each time. He took the time to get to know how my skin would react to different things. You can tell he cares. The other guys do great work too, I seen all of their work multiple times. Wish I could give zero stars, let me explain why: I'm a licensed cosmo/barber and I needed a cut something awful. I've been to this shop before and it's first come, first served. That's pretty normal with classic shops. All the chairs were filled when I got in at 10ish, maybe a little past 9. No greeting, no hey, no nothing, just sat on the little bench waiting my turn. No problem. I've met the owner of the shop in the past, Justin, when I was still in school and noticed that he was in a chair getting faded up - cool - look your best if you want to do your best, I get it. Fast forward just under an hour. Another patron comes in and is immediately sat ahead of me by the same barber that was working on the owner (who had just left). Bear in mind that no one has said a word to me since I arrived - I'm 6' tall and 220lbs, I'm hard to miss. I waited another 15 minutes (for a grand total of about an hour watching a movie on their TV before I stood up and left after listening to the ex-firefighter barber complain loudly to his coworkers and customers about having to help an overweight person out of the bathtub (classy guys, real classy) while he was still a firefighter. A couple things stuck out here - there was a free barber leaning back against the counter by his chair, messing with his phone for a solid 10-15 minutes, doing literally nothing. No one greeted me, at all. I sat for an hour without anyone saying hi, we'll be with you when we can. I can't help but think the culture in this shop is fostered by Justin, the owner - as he didn't seem to care one bit and also didn't have a single word to say to a patron patiently waiting, who eventually got snaked by a barber's friend. Talking poorly about a disabled woman in your previous job is pretty gross man, it's def not something your customers want to hear, ever, regardless of how funny some might see it. GREET YOUR PATRONS. That's kind of the bare minimum, seriously. It's day 1 stuff in barber school... Don't let your friends jump the line, especially if you refuse to do appointments. I came here specifically bc there are no appointments. You can have a proper barbershop without highly offensive topics of conversation - I did it for years. I'm not new to this game and I've been to this shop at least 5 times in the last 4 years. Thanks for wasting my time guys, seriously. I used to recommend you as a fellow barber but I don't feel I can do that anymore. Don't know what's happened to this place in the last two years but it doesn't bode well for the longevity of your shop. Oh - overweight disabled people ARE people too - at some point an adult should step in and teach these kids what being a barber is all about because it's not JUST about a tight fade - it's about service kids. Glad I walked out after an hour of watching a basketball movie on your tiny tv, I would have been disappointed in myself for even giving you any of my money. Zero stars. When you cut your own hair, you trim a bit off the sides then do the other side and hope it is even. Cutting a beard is similar, but you are in the mirror so everything is backwards. Bottom line: it gets messed up Beard and Mane is my preferred shop to go and spend money to get someone who trained to cut hair to cut mine. No Mondays, No appointments. Just walk in and wait. There may be some banter, but it is not sexist or much more than a few guys talking shit to each other. read more

Holy crap this place took a long time to get in. (Duh, it was a Saturday!) Great hair cut and good hot towel shave but for the wait, I have better things to do with my Saturdays. My hat's off to this place but they should really hedge their bets and put in a few more stalls in the building next door or start selling beer for the hour-plus wait... No offense to the guys working there because they are funny as $h!t. They're only 3 guys and keeping up is not possible. If you know them, it seems that you have the in for the line wait but for me, next time I will choose to wait somewhere else. All in all, the barbers do good work. "We're not going to be like other shops. Yeah, we take a bit longer and we talk some s--- here and there but you're always going to walk out with a great haircut". That totally sums up this place. It's typically a walk-in shop. You can set up appointments on Mondays. Walk in, sign the board and make sure not to miss having your name called. Most haircuts take about 45 minutes and it'll be longer for guys with beards. They go slow, but they give really good cuts. The talk is definitely salty and a bit crude, so make sure you're fine with that before coming in. I remember coming in a few years back and while waiting, a woman came in with her kids. Typically the guys are really chatty, but for the 5 minutes she was in the shop, the guys barely said a word. Regular cuts are $25. Customs at $30. Beard shaves are $20 and the trims are $17. read more

Flew in to Omaha from Alaska - found this shop online and arrived at 5:00. They close at 6:00. Was told they had taken their last customer. There were three guys cutting hair and only one customer waiting. When told they wouldn't help me I asked if they would recommend where to send my business. (Literally just got to Omaha...). The obese barber with a beard launched into a stream of profanity and told me to get the fuck out of his shop. Was surprised at both his invective and the depth of unhappiness exhibited by a this toxic human. Save your money and heartbeats you'll never have again and go anywhere else for a haircut. finances been going here for a while and has had nothing but nice things to say about the guys that work here and the end result. so naturally, as a wedding present i was going to spend MY beard earned money on him and his 8 groomsmen to get their hair and beards done. KNOWING this was a walk-in shop only (as my fiancé is gone for literal hours) i thought it would be a good idea for me to email the guys and see if there was a way to fit in 8 guys in the same time period. as it's well known day of the wedding, you have limited time frames to get things done. and this is what i get in response. if they were ever talked to like this from a customer service based business, i'm sure they wouldn't appreciate it. i will make sure i post this everywhere i can. First time. Chris did my haircut and 'barber facial' (hot towel, lotion, massage). I liked the location (close to home), the building (old vintage feel with a bit of a tattoo vibe), and the banter. Luckily, I caught them at a slow time (11:00 AM on a Friday with rain forecast) so almost no wait! The actual haircut was just what I wanted and well done with good attention to detail. I have been coming to see Matt and Justin for over 2 years, I won't go anywhere else. You will have to wait for a haircut (sometimes about an hour) but it is well worth the wait! The small shop atmosphere is is like straight out of the barber shop movies, no subject is off limits (well almost) there is always great conversation going on. Long wait, but worth it...best hair cut for an affordable price. I suggest to not waste your time going to places like Sports Clips or Lady Janes. You aren't pressured into getting extra services. They trim your eye brows, razor taper your neck, neck massage and it's all included in the price of the hair cut, as it should be. The Beard and Mane rocks! I have a beard and its extremely difficult to find a real barber. Luckily, I found the Beard and Mane and a couple of new friends. I was treated like a friend from the very first day. They are great barbers and really try to give you what you want. They are my "go to" guys when it comes to looking good. I can go and get the "Works" - shave, beard trim and a hair cut. If you have never had a straight edge shave, you are missing out! When it comes to a straight razor shaves, they are hands down the best. I would go so far as to say "they are the booger with the sugar" LOL If you are looking for a real barber, look no further. I've been coming here for almost 3 years now and even though I just recently started travel nursing and don't even live in Omaha, I still make it a point to stop in here for a cut when I know I'll be back in town. This was my first stop from the airport last time I was in town; which I think speaks volumes for the character, integrity, and craftsmanship of the guys who work/run this place. I first started getting my hair cut by Matt and have since opened up to Justin and Chris. Each barber does a great job-I would sit in any of there chairs. Their knowledge and insight on the new and classic styles is why I continue coming here. I've been told by them specifically my cuts aren't the easiest/I tend to change things up on them about every 6 months; however they are extremely helpful and accommodating. I seem to always have a new question for them about what we should and shouldn't do; there honest input is what I really like about these gentlemen. Just received my first haircut from Beard and Mane on a suggestion from my father. Have been to 4-barbers in the last 6-months and this one by far is the best in town. Shop is run by 3-guys who know how to cut hair and make for a worthwhile experience. The three guys cutting hair are Justin, Matt, and Chris. Justin was the one that cut my hair and I can honestly say I don't think I've ever gotten a better haircut then I received today. I will definitely be going back and taking both of my son's their to get their haircuts. Only piece of advice I will offer people is get their early because they don't take appointments and they have such a loyal following the place fills up quick, but regardless of the wait that was the best experience I've had lately. read more
