There are clean, polished tables for two or four people and there's lots of space. We had a seat in the window which was very nice. Every table had a (real) red rosebud in a small vase which was a lovely touch, there was soft music playing, and there was a warm and pleasant atmosphere. The owner was particularly friendly and welcoming. The home baking is fresh and truly gorgeous. My husband said the Bakewell tart was the best he'd ever tasted (high praise indeed coming from him) - and that included the one he had in the town of Bakewell itself!!! As for my large Empire Biscuit, well it was also the best I've had (they are my favourites and I always eat them when in Scotland!) as it was fresh, thick and crumbly (usually they are quite hard). They do a great selection of freshly made lunches too from salads to toasties. The substantial and delicious soup with a sandwich is only £6.95. The coffees are extremely good and come with some pieces of homemade Scottish butter tablet on the side of the saucer. We had hoped to eat there again but sadly ran out of time this trip. Next time we're in Largs we'll go straight there for lunch. Only wish I was allowed to give it more than 5 stars as this cafe is in a league of its own!!

There is a good selection of teas, coffee's and iced drinks. A good selection of patisserie for a light snack. A nice place to go to in the summer even though they are open all year round can get a little busy in the summer season.

Prominently located on the main coast road as you come into the centre of the town from the north, with striking 1930's(?) architecture it is hard to miss and nor should you! For shear variety and quality the ice creams are hard to beat and as well as serving traditional flavours including strawberry, chocholate (Belgium full bodied and gutsy mind you, no watery ices here!) there are new and exciting combinations including peach and passion fruit or Irun Brew! I was with my relatives there (on the 27th May 2011) and between us we had a variety of cakes, scones, ice cream, teas and coffee. There was waitress service and the older lady who served us was very friendly and pleasant. There is a big range of confectionery just inside the door and a modern 'juke box' too, which I didn't hear in action (but I'm think it was in working order as it looked brand new!)

And another reason to go is the interior. It looks like something from Jay Gatsby's New York and I imagine it will be a big hit in the coming months when Gatsby fever takes over. I love Nardini's so much. The ice cream is what I imagine clouds will taste like.

It can sometimes take a wee bit of time to get served but that's only because it's regularly chocca. Just chill out, have a natter and be patient. Besides all the usual service you'd expect from any PO, this one also sells gifts, souvenirs and postcards. The staff are pleasant and helpful as well. Parking is difficult outside as it's always busy there but you may find a space if you're lucky!

There's a variety of small round and square tables and soft-seated dining chairs (perhaps the tables are slightly too close together but this would only be a slight issue when the cafe is full). There's a nice blue carpet throughout, pretty floral pictures on all walls, shelving units with ornaments, good lighting, a long counter with mirrors behind and delicious looking cakes under glass (I didn't succumb on this occasion!!) apparently everything is home-baked. There are breakfasts served all day, from eggs on toast and full cooked meals to honey toasted Granola. Lots of 'light bites' and full 'Hot Plate' lunches on offer too, plus salads, baked potatoes, sandwiches with imaginative fillings (£4.95-£5.50) and a special 'soup and a sandwich combo' (£5.95). There's a children's menu too. Lovely desserts as well including ice cream sundaes. Largs is a great place to find good quality ice cream, thanks to the Italians there! There's the usual fare on the menu - main meals, sandwiches and icecreams and some good veggie options. Although we weren't eating we did clock the prices which seemed pretty steep. Some butter tablet icecream ( one kids scoop) was £2.50 which did seem pretty cheeky. Our small coffees were over £2.50 each but we didn't object too much given we were enjoying the chat and the view. We did laugh at some of the other prices though - £3.10 for a breakfast roll and egg and 80p for a single digestive biscuit! I must admit the young guy serving was a gem - really smiley and enthusiastic, but I do think that this place is taking liberties with its prices. But when you're having a day out by the seaside, price isn't that important!

Will not be back unless food is prepared fresh and not re-heated. There are plenty of competitors locally producing quality freshly cooked food.
