The yarn bombed parking poles drew me in, and I realized it was a fibre/yarn shop! I HAD to check it out. The amount of variety squeezed into this little space is fantastic--so many colors, textures, and weights of exotic and small-manufacturer yarn; gorgeous color sets of fibre and more. Although the patterns and accessories did not contain much in the way of crochet-specific things, the lady in the shop said she had been wanting to focus on increasing interest in crochet in the shop's community. I left with a handful of yarn hanks and a beautiful birch hook with a decorative handle, and with full satisfaction! It made my day in a small downtown area that consists mainly of real estate shops and salons.

I generally like Riggio's selection of plants and garden gear. We are longtime customers. I was…read moreblindsided however in early August when I was reconciling my bank statements to my debit purchase receipts. Neither of Reggio's charges matched the register receipts that I was given. Both were several dollars more but were not identical charges. So this week I finally went in to ask about the discrepancies and they showed me this dinky ( 3x4") notice in a small plastic stand on the counter saying that the store/nursery prices as of June 1 were "cash prices" and use of a CC or debit would result in a % up-charge. I up until recently owned a small business and I also did occasionally discount for cash but my prices were my prices and a discount was a discount from the marked price, no surprises at checkout. I will likely not continue to patronize Riggios because our purchases tend to aggregate to larger sums and we don't carry that kind of cash. It's also hard to keep a running total in my head when there is a service charge due at the counter. Not ideal folks. Just be aware of this.

Lo and behold, they opened in a building next to the Car Care Clinic and then eventually moved to a little purple house where it sits today. I've only ever been to Haight-Ashbury once in my life, in 1991, not in 1967. But Sunshine Daydream is exactly the kind of store I'd expect to find on the Haight in '67. It's a very groovy store, selling all kinds of incense, books, novelties, etc... It's sort of a hippy's version of Spencer's Gifts, without going overboard with pricey branded garbage like so many other shops of its caliber have. The people here are pleasant, unassuming, and attentive. If the other reviewer had a bad experience over the phone, it's likely because a) competitors call to try and undercut their price and/or b) they receive harrassing phone calls from people not "hip" to the lifestyle.
