Carne Asada Taco

I've sat outside multiple times now. The back patio is the perfect place to relax. The food was great. The brunch and dinner menus are both great. The queso is not for everyone but the tacos are great. Service was good. MUST GET CHURROS

Everything is so delicious. I've been here twice. The margaritas are insane. I love the hibiscus one. The Baja fish tacos are def my favorite. Salsa is also super tasty. Staff is always very welcoming. Would definitely make a romantic date night or a chill place to sit at the bar and have some quality beer. It's such a burst of fresh air to have a gorgeous place like this near in Kent!

Fantastic again! We stopped in for brunch this time and loved every minute. I had chilaquiles on a trip to Mexico several years ago and have been looking for someplace in the states that can compare. Everywhere else they are soggy or the flavors aren't there. The battleground nailed it. The flavor combo was perfect on top of fresh made tortilla chips. The beautiful patio outback was the best place to enjoy the great weather and relax with a drink (carajillo - mmm) and great food. Our waiter was friendly and quick. All of the staff was extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to bring friends back for brunch and to stop one evening for a drink on their patio.

Hibiscus mezcal margarita

I have visited this establishment several times, and it has been wonderful each time. Our waiter, Michael, was very kind and helpful. The hibiscus mezcal margarita is delectable, and the chile sopresa will make you plan your next visit before you've even left the restaurant!

3.5 stars. First time here. Arrived right at 4pm, opening. The space is a little more modern and "upscale" than we were expecting to find off the beaten path of Kent. Service was prompt and overall great. The menu was a little lackluster for us. Everything is ala carte and the entree list was very limited. As a self proclaimed Mexican food foodie, I am l firm believer that no matter what; chips & salsa should be free...so that was a turnoff at first, especially when they are your generic salsa verdes and tortillas. We waited an hour for our entrees... Again, we arrived at opening. One of two tables. During our wait, we watched as my entree sat on the bar for 10 minutes, surrounded by servers and customers before making its way to our table. Had it not been in a piping hot lava bowl I'm not sure I would've eaten it. I proceeded to wait another 5-7 minutes before my husbands entree arrived. The food was good.. Nothing remarkable, but good. Portion sizes were on the smaller side all the way around; food and drinks. $77 for two, I would say it was a little overpriced for quality.

After hearing many recommendations from our friends, we finally were able to try it for ourselves! Our experience was a little mixed. First of all, the hostess sat us at a table just a few inches from another table, even though there were plenty of open tables. It was hard to enjoy our conversation because we could hear the people right next to us (and therefore, they could hear us too). I understand if they seat guests closer so that they can share a waiter. But it's not that big of a space to begin with, and there were other employees just standing by the bar the whole time we were there, so they weren't short staffed. The big redeeming factor was the food, everything tasted great. We ordered guacamole to start, then tacos and carnitas for our entrees. Overall, the food was delicious but the ambiance was sub-par in my opinion.

Modern somewhat classy Mexican restaurant. I have no complaints and the food is fairly typical of a modern up scale Mexican restaurant.

The bar is in the front and they have some rooms to accommodate diners easily. Nice space. Decorated for Christmas. Server brought drinks around quickly. And left us with the menu for a bit. We all ordered different things. Food came out fast and hot. I got the spinach quesadilla that comes with soup. Both were very good. Quesadilla had a bit of spice that I couldn't figure out where it came from. It was good though. But if you don't like spice you may not want this. Soup was hot and full of veggies and chicken. Very good. Overall the service was good and so was the food. Prices are about average. Plenty of parking. They had Christmas themed drinks. Fun! I'd definitely go back.

Paleteria La Fresa also has a rotating stock of homemade popsicles in familiar and unique flavors, from strawberry to avocado to Mexican custard! My Yelp friend who joined me for dinner and dessert there a few days ago has tried at least a dozen flavors - her favorite is avocado. This was my first visit to this restaurant and spent some time looking at the pantry stuff for sale (didn't get anything) and debating which flavor of popsicle to get for my first visit here, before ordering two Mexican street tacos and one carne asada sopes for dinner. My meal also came with unlimited chips and salsa which we immediately demolished! Ultimately, I chose to get the Mexican cake popsicle flavor which was so smooth and creamy and milky and then crunchy with Mexican chocolate slabs inside! It was very refreshing, unique, and not very expensive at 3 bucks. My tacos were saved for later (and tasted delicious a couple hours later at home) but I ate the sopes at the restaurant. It was generously piled with carne asada and the corn pancake was 1000/10! I will absolutely order sopes again! For $16.50, I had a lot of food, a nice treat, and great company. I plan to come again!

In my most recent adventure, I visited Taqueria La Loma in Akron and very much enjoyed my meal. After ordering from the counter, I sat down and was quickly given some fresh chips and salsa to snack on. Although these were delicious, I probably should have passed on this because what I ordered was much more that I could eat alone. I was impressed by the flavor and value of the Mixed (shrimp and octopus) Ceviche, and would absolutely suggest it to anyone. I'd never had octopus ceviche before, and was concerned about chewiness, but was pleasantly surprised at how tender it was. I assume the shrimp ceviche is similarly good. I also ordered 3 birria tacos. I found there was maybe slightly too much cheese in the taco, but the tasty consomé dip was impressive. To wash it all down, I had one of the best horchata drinks I've ever had in my life. It was sooo good and a must-have. The staff was attentive and helpful, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was basic, but clean, and looks like the kind of authentic place you'd want to go for a casual but tasty Mexican food meal. I will be recommending this place to my co-workers in the Akron office, and will go back again next time I'm in town.
