The prices are quite reasonable for the island. Remember that everything has to be trucked in from the mainland which adds to the cost of every single thing you buy on the Vineyard. This island has few bargains. lt closes at 4:30 which makes no sense to me. But it opens at 8 am so that works for us early birds. Don't ignore this terrific island resource as you drive between VH and Edgartown. Especially if you need lots of mustard, hot dogs, ketchup or mayo for your next cookout with family and friends.

After getting rave reviews about the delicious cake from our engagement party guests, it was obvious we should order the wedding cakes through them too. There was an endless array of flavors and customization options. We even shared some photos of concepts we found on Pinterest and Instagram, and their talented designers followed our specifications and replicated the cakes to a T. We coordinated our order over email with the bakery department, which was incredibly seamless and convenient, and their friendly staff was a pleasure to work with. We also delegated a family member to pick up the cakes the morning of the wedding and had no issues at all. I don't think you'll find many bakeries offering a scrumptious and fully customized cake for less than $200 per full sheet cake and $50 per 6" round cake, so if you're holding a wedding or other big event in the Falmouth area, you should absolutely order your cakes from the bakery at Windfall Market!

But the markup on their products makes the bulk of what they sell inaccessible to the average person. It's beyond the classic healthfood store pricing, we're talking $20 for a jar of almond butter when Vineyard Grocer (under five minutes away) sells the same thing for much less. I mean, it seems counterintuitive to be focused on eco-friendliness and then to price out the majority so only some can afford it, right? Like, if you want people buying non-organic/fair trade/etc, why make it so most of them can't do it at your store? The counter argument I usually hear is that you get a discount via the Island Club Card, but that's going away soon and it's like $90. So it's still a problem. Sometimes you'll need to go here to buy something you want and in all honesty if you're visiting the island it's worth checking out. But always look at the price tag before you buy anything, you never know when something that should be $7 is $30.

Soda that's often 4 two liters for $5 in Boston is $3.99 each. I walked out with some drinks and snacks for the beach and it was $100. Checkout people are nice. It's sad because I would love to support local businesses and I'm not a Stop and Shop fan but it's better than this.
