My dog - The image shows a close-up of a dog's skin with a visible open wound that is red and appears to be bleeding or raw. The wound is located near the dog's ear, with fur surrounding the area. The skin around the wound appears irritated, and the injury is exposed, indicating a recent or ongoing injury.

Beware if you bring your dog to the Barking Dog Exeter our dog Diesel goes every Wednesday and today we get a call to come get him as he was "playing" with another dog and it got a bit rough. We'll that turned into a $500 emergency vet visit for staples in his thigh. I spoke with a manager and they believe there is no wrong doing on there part!? Really under there supervision dogs got to playing too aggressively and Diesel is not aggressive at all he is very submissive to any dog that barks at him and the vet even told us how odd it was that they didn't get involved at all with any info about what happened or the other dog, and that the way the would is it is clear diesel was getting away or trying too.. Very sad that the Barking Dog has gone down hill so bad you can't even trust that they will keep the dogs from hurting one another.

I love The Barking Dog, it's my second home

There is no better home away from home, even Grandma's! Kim Connick and the staff at The Barking Dog in Exeter are real "dog people". The care and concern they have each dog who visits there is as if the dog was their own. We have been using them now for over a year and each time MAX goes there, it gets better and better. They are on top of special needs or requests, they provide valuable day to day feedback on what your dog is doing and how he or she is interacting with the other dogs. Michelle, Lauren and all the staff there take so much interest in our dog we cannot get over it. As a pet owner it is hard to leave our loved ones with any strangers but with Kim and the staff, it is just like his second home. Go there for a tour, you won't believe your eyes!

Love the barking dog! Ruby Has been coming here since she was 6 months old... now shes 6 years old! The staff is amazing, she has even had a few overnights there. I have never had any issues the place is so clean and they have a pool! The place is really a vacation center for dogs! They always have fun costume contests and send my dog home with holiday scarfs they really put the extra effort into making you feel special

Lobby area - clean and large enough for multiple dogs at one time.

The staff here are undertrained, stressed out, and do not manage aggressive dogs well with other dogs. Dont leave your dog here.

We relied on EP services and would leave detailed notes to remind them of the cats' needs and dietary/medical requirements. Generally, the team at EP did a great job and were a trusted service provider. Recently they changed their billing policies, we had previously used VenMo and they switched to requiring a CC, which is fine, we always paid our invoices and we're in good standing. After a recent trip, we had Qs regarding their new billing policies, these Qs remained unanswered despite numerous attempts to contact them. We received a response from the EP team that they would reply shortly - they never did. We then found late fees auto-charged to our CC due to not paying the invoices within the terms, however, we had held payment due to our queries not being answered over the course of weeks, despite them saying they would respond. The EP mgmt team, when reminded and informed of our Qs, and subsequent dissatisfaction w/ the late fees, was extremely unproffesional and rude to my partner, and said our account was closed and they would not continue service. They also implied we were high maintenance when we had called after hours, while we were out of state, asking if someone could check on one of our cats who had not been seen on one of our 3 cat cameras for 12 hrs. They implied we panicked - which any good animal owner would do - because we reached out. They failed to recall that earlier this summer, one of their associates actually locked one of our special needs cats in the wrong "zone" of our home, a major concern that jeopardized our cat's safety. When that originally happened, they were great about rectifying the situation, but it was very rich of them to accuse/imply us of being panicked, when we had a past experience when their incompetence put our cat's welfare at risk. This company owes us late fees and has sketchy business practices. I compliment them for their care of the cats, generally, but the management of the business, their inconsistent/shady billing practices, and terrible customer support/rudeness to standing customers is unacceptable. Do not use this service.

She was incredible and the service was impeccable, personal and so much consideration and love was shown to my furbabies (bunnies, cats, dogs). Dr Mahoney cared for and helped us make final arrangements for 5 of our beloved animals that had all lived long healthy lives. We were disappointed upon her retirement, however, as fate would have it when our last lab needed help crossing the rainbow bridge Dr Mahoney happened to be covering for vacations...I think my Bailey needed her comfort and compassion. As new ownership has taken over we were initially satisfied with the attention and care of our pets. However, there have been mistakes which we took in stride, canceled last minute appointments, which we understand, things come up, but recently we were treated with such unprofessionalism over ordering our heart worm medicine online that we have decided to change practices. Customer service is everything and when the face and voice of your business does not have it, its very unfortunate.

They all have true compassion for what they do on a daily basis. I've brought 8 furbabies there spanning their full life. First shots to euthanasia. Large breed dogs and domestic cats. They handled my emergencies/ surgeries as needed. Over the past 18 months +/- during this pandemic it has been rough on everyone and every industry that I know of. I even found myself second guessing not being able to physically see the hands on. It has been hard. But they are SO GOOD. They are there when you truly need them with the correct answers, the most compassionate nature, time and tissues if needed. I'm very appreciative of their abilities and compassion.

They have offered to reimburse me for medical expenses. The comment below from the new owners is accurate, and it was a relief to hear the changes they are making when they called me. It's been an about a month, I've thought long and hard about this post. On Monday, June 17th I dropped my dog off at daycare. A place he has been going (and loved) for years. At 1pm I got a call from the employee there, saying that my dog was attacked, and that I needed to get him immediately, and bring him to the vet. They thought he had 1 wound.. he had 3 (3 bad ones, but I keep finding scabs from others). He ended up with 10 staples, an oral antibiotic, and injection antibiotics for 21 days. This happened on a Monday, by Thursday I knew something was very wrong and took him back to my Amazing Vet. The wound that they didn't staple (they try not to close dog bites because their mouths are gross) was infected beyond what the oral antibiotics could handle, and had become much worse. They were considering surgery to remove the infection and close the wound... Thankfully they tried another route first, and the injection antibiotics did the trick. He is still wearing a shirt to protect the wounds, he is still on anti inflammation medication, he is still recovering. Playtime Pet Resort (formerly Play All Day) in Exeter, does not have a bite policy. And, because my baby tried to run away from the dogs attacking him, they do not have clear video footage of the attack. They say they can't identify the dogs that attacked him (the vet confirmed it was more than 1). They attempted to placate me by saying "it happened right at the feet of the employee"... unfortunately, the other DOGS (plural), were not expelled. Those dogs that attacked mine are still there and there is nothing I can do about it. Please be aware. My boy loved it there for the last 4 years (split between Hampton and Exeter). I loved the convenience of them being in town, and picking up a tired dog at the end of the day. However, he will never go back. It is no longer a safe space for him. Please read all reviews for this business AND Play All Day (Exeter),before choosing the best place for your dog. I hope this will prevent any other families from experiencing an "incident" like this.
