I found it strange--why would I leave a stable, decent-salaried job for an hourly position in a field I had no experience in? Honestly, it came off as a bit desperate and didn't make much sense to me. One day, Steve wasn't in and Angel offered to cut my hair. Since I had always been happy with Steve's work, I thought, "Why not?" That turned out to be a mistake. The haircut was uneven, crooked, and just looked off. That's when I remembered Steve once mentioning that he had taught Angel how to cut hair herself--she never went to school for it. Suddenly, everything made sense. I texted Steve about the issue and didn't hear back. I followed up with photos, still no response. When I eventually called him, he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. Frustrated by the lack of accountability, I just hung up. At the time, I didn't want to make a fuss since I had already left a glowing review. But seeing that review now, I can't help but reflect: if I were in Steve's position and a long-time customer reached out with a concern, I would've at least acknowledged it and tried to make things right. As a fellow naturalista, she took the time to listen to my concerns on a curly cut and from there we addressed the best way to approach my cut (wet vs damp vs dry makes a big difference for us!). I also brought photos to show her of what I thought was achievable. I have a TON of hair but she took her time, care and did the right thing. I left the salon feeling relieved that all my dead, dry ends were gone. She gave tips on caring for my precious strands as well and tools to use. She provides a touch up within two weeks I believe (might be a week) and she was the one to send me a text and ask if I needed a touch up, which I did! I just wanted my front pieces to be slightly shorter in the front. She got me in during the coming weekend. Highly recommend!

I could see the same person there, and they would still have issues giving me the same haircut. I didn't want to go to one of the newesh hipster joints because, well, its a newesh hipster joint. I am so glad to have come across this place because Monica is on point every single time. It doesn't matter if I haven't seen her in 6 months because I'm letting my hair grow out or if I come in every 2 months - I always get a haircut that is exactly what I want. Monica is a sweetheart and is always in good spirits. I've been coming here even though I've moved 45 minutes away because I know she'll do a great job. Give this place a shot if you would like to have a consistent cut and feel like you have a personal barber.
