Lousy, disorganized and biased service. Dont waste your time waiting on their couch they will overlook you for their buddies or just play favorites! I walked in around 11:30 am, there are 5 barbers cutting, I then asked to sign up for a walk in hair cut and they said there are a couple of appointments but only 1 walk in ahead of you it will be 30-40 minutes. I ask is there any list i can sign up? and the guy at the desk just says "its cool i remember your face." I sit on the couch and watch TV, patiently i wait 45-50 minutes and see several other guys walk in and get their hair cut, i suppose some are the scheduled appointments. Then at 12:25 i ask the same guy "almost ready?" and now he says there are now 2 walk ins ahead of you the guy sitting behind you came in before you, which he didnt! I argue, "i came in before the other walk in and how the heck did 1 turn into 2 people ahead of me and a 30-40 minute wait now becomes another hour? after i just sat on this couch for 50 minutes!?" I walked out of there went to the mall barber and got helped immediately and they finished with my cut by 12:45. The Barber Lounge is a big waste of time, this place needs a first come first serve sign up sheet like a normal running barber salon. read more

Cool place, the guys look nice enough and they do take care of you taking their time with your cut. The only downside is that if you walk in you will have to wait a while, not a deal breaker since they have 4 big screen TV's with sports. Word of advise, pay cash. They do take cards but they charge $1 fee; the fee goes toward the company that services the transactions therefore you and the shop are loosing a dollar. It's better to pay cash since the shop gets to keep 100% if the money which helps the local economy. I loved my haircut and I will keep going to get my haircut at The Barber Lounge. I'm not a person to complain but this location is unorganized, i called a day prior to cutting my hair just to make sure I had an appointment set up. On the day of the appointment I got there 5 to 10 minutes ahead of time, once inside the business no barber or person acknowledged me, once my time was up, I got up but they took someone else, I just left the business. I'm not complaining for the hair cut (I never got one) I'm complaining for their service and their lack of attention to customers. read more

First time at the shop and I was greeter immediately which is always good. Brandon cut my hair and I was very pleased. We chopped it up for a bit as I enjoyed the strategically placed HD televisions. Any angle I turned I could watch the game. Kudos for that. Good thing Brandon reminded a barber I was next, most shops would have let me wait but not this one. It's a bit pricey but all n all, a full service barber shop. Cut was good, and looks like any barber in there can get down. It's worth the wait and the drive from the IE. I will be back. read more

I've been going here since Jan 2013 and never stopped. Before Jan '13, I always used to just buzz my head, then I decided out of nowhere to start growing my hair. I'm glad I came to this place as my first barber spot. The guys there make you feel comfortable and I always leave feeling confident. Great atmosphere, especially if you like sports. Only gripe is watch out for peak hours because this place can get crowded fast and before you know it, you got like 5 guys before you waiting on your barber. New customers should NOT go in here! Please stay away from this place! The barbershop is conveniently located next to the bank. I head to the ATM, get some quick cash, and decided to get a clean-up (just the sides) from this barbeshop. Ready with my cash, I proceeded towards the barbeshop. The outside of the barbershop is nice and clean, and the mirror tint always made me wonder what was inside. The tint they use is mirror tint, you can't see inside, but can see outside. I opened the door and step into a lounge/barbershop. The shop layout is really nice. There are flatscreens on the corners, a large comfortable looking leather couch in the center, and beautiful city skyline pictures....all I that was missing was a cigar. Anyways, I take a seat and wait for my haircut. As I am looking around and enjoying the shop/TV, I noticed the prices on the West wall are covered with a strip. That instantly set off a red light in my mind, but I continued to sit and wait over an hour for my haircut. The hour wait didn't bother me. A barber is done with a customer's hair (tappered, semi-designed, edged-up, etc..), and the barber tells the customer, "$15 bucks." Customer pays, he gives his farewells to the shop barbers and leaves. I'm up next. I sit down and ask him to cut my sides. Nothing fancy. I have about a 4 clip all around at the time, and he cuts my sides with a 2 clip. ~15 min later, he is done. He hands me the mirror, the cut is so-so (basic), and I nod my head and reply "okay, cool." I get off the chair, reach for my wallet, and asked for the damage. He replied, "$20 bucks." I looked at him with a "WTF look" and paid. I walked out of this place with my head down, a mediocre fade, and $20 dollars less in my wallet. It is sad to see that these dingle-berries are robbing new customers because they are not aware of their prices, or aren't friends with the barbers. They would rather make a few bucks at the moment, then keep a customer long term. If the barber would have charged me $15 plus tip, then they would have had a reoccuring weekly customer, and would have made WAY more money from me than $3-5 bucks. read more

It's one thing to wait an hour for a haircut; it's another to come back empty-handed after waiting for so long. These so called "barbers" are more interested in taking smoke breaks and chewing the fat about their side businesses than allocating customers to their SIX Barbers on site. I literally got passed over for two or three people until, with no hint made by anyone (another example of EXCELLENT customer service, of course) until I found out they are by appointment only. I visited The Barber Lounge for the first time and enjoyed the service. Great location and qualified staff. You will feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. With decore that is contemporary and inviting your hair cut will be superb. Unlike many of the Downey "Hole-In-The-Wall" locations, The Barber Lounge provides quality at level worthy of your service. I've been coming here two years. The people that cut hair are pretty good, but also pretty lazy. Theres been plenty of times where I have been sitting there, while other barbers are on their phones are wanting to chat up with other people. My frustration with them is similar to what others have mentioned: No sign in sheet and are very unprofessional...I've put up with it long enough because it felt good to go to a routine shop. But, will no longer tolerate it. I will no longer pay for their haircuts. read more

Don't go if your new client. They don't make you feel welcome. I went a few times & gave them the benefit of doubt, BUT my experience still suck! Even when I text my Barber he ignored or replied really late. They do have some talented (kid) Barbers, BUT lack of customer service. There are many greatful Barber shops around Downey, so trust me no need to waste your time or money at this place. (Not wroth the time) No manger or real boss to keep them professional. read more

Walked in today thinking I was going to miss the game while getting my hair cut. Not the case. I was pleasantly surprised a by the environment, quality of cut, and those four TVs!
