Check-in upon arrival for the class. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The class seems always full as I observed the class before mine and the classes around my class. In short: this place is pretty hip and popular, good flow of people. For my hip hop class: it was around 40 people (mixed gender and ages). During hip hop class: the instructor was explaining step by step and section by section, to make it easy to everyone. What I like was he also rotated the class: so if you were at the back, you will be on the side or at the front at some point of the class. The class ended with full choreography, then students were encouraged to perform by groups and cheered by everyone. In overall, good vibe and community with great instructors. The following review is not a reflection of her in any way, shape, or form as she was phenomenal and my daughter admires her greatly. However, let me get into my most recent experience that will have me never coming back or supporting this business & I will tell anyone who asks.... Recently I attempted to book a booth so that my daughter and her friend from dance could have some extra rehearsal time outside of their company rehearsals to just rehearse and nail down technique. Nothing fancy, just hip hop style. I booked online through MindBody after being redirected from their website (awful confusing booking/scheduling system). When booking, I noticed it said that minors could not rent the studio -- which makes sense because they're under age and all that. However on the booking site, it did not specify that you have to be a "certified instructor with proper insurance" to book. The wording on the website (screenshot added below) implied that minors could not book the space without an adult present. Not a certified dance instructor but just a general adult. So cool, I'll sit with them while they rehearse and ensure they use the time and space wisely -- not an issue for these two girls but semantics. I booked online and everything seemed good. However, something told me to call the morning of just to ensure that everything was good to go as after my booking the studio I received no confirmation or reaching out of the staff which seemed odd but okay. When I called, the woman on the phone asked the girls ages. I mentioned they were 15 but I will be present with them the entire duration of using the booth. The woman then informed me that because I was not a certified instructor with the proper insurance this would not suffice and the girls could not use the studio we rented. She reiterated to me that it stated all of this on the website. I assured her that if that's what the policy is, that is not clearly communicated on the website and the verbiage reads as though minors cannot book but an adult can on their behalf but would need to be present. She said no. Cool, so we nixed that plan. I asked if since the policy was not clear and now we would no longer be able to use the space, could we please process a refund for the amount. She stated she could apply the credit for me as an adult to take a class but she could not process a refund. I am not a dancer and have interest in taking a dance class. My DAUGHTER is the dancer so applying a credit for me and me only to use is useless. I stressed this and asked again for a refund. She said no, "we do not process refunds". So now I am out money for a studio that I booked for my daughter to use with no clear communication of said policies, my daughter and her friend lost valuable rehearsal time they were looking forward to having, and I am left to wonder how many other people are they doing this to. It seems small but it's genuinely bad business practice. For a small business and dance studio you'd think there'd be better communication, professionalism, and overall customer service. I thought perhaps I was alone in my interpretation of the website verbiage but then found other reviews almost verbatim reiterating my experience. It seems if multiple people were misunderstanding the same thing (as noted in varying reviews), that as a business owner you'd want to clarify the verbiage so as to ensure the process is smoother for the customer/dancers -- however clearly it's not important enough to do so and it's coming off as a way for them to pocket money and not be bothered. Nonetheless, this is bad business practice and it makes the studio look money hungry instead of outwardly curating a space for serious dancers to grow. We won't be back. My daughter has danced at other studios in the area since our time with SDL and prefers them much more, however we were looking forward to the opportunity rent affordable studio space for a few hours of rehearsal on a Saturday. The studio itself is poorly laid out and crowded and doesn't curate the technique of dancers unless you join a Level Up or one of their teams so it's not too much of a loss overall but I would will never recommend this studio to anyone else in the future. The level of "we didn't communicate well but we also are keeping your money because we don't hold ourselves accountable" is shameful on the owners behalf. Don't go here. Don't give them your money. There are better studios in the Sacramento region with a better atmosphere and better customer service. Affordability for drop in classes seems like a great deal, but you get what you pay for -- low price = low standards.

I have been to many of the dance facilities in northern California/Bay Area, so I have a very good idea of comparable facilities. The dance floor is superior to the floor setups used in major studios and ballroom dance competitions. Since the studio's opening in early 2012, four showcases have been produced at the CDC with each showcase having a unique blend of local professionals and talented amateur dancers as well as professionals from NV, the Bay Area, and Southern California, and NJ. If you get to a CDC Dance Showcase or a major holiday dance event (e.g. Xmas or New Year eve dance party), you're in for a treat. Bill and Bobbi Roth, the studio owners, are the ultimate hosts. Oh - most importantly I almost forgot to mention that the studio has some of the finest dance instructors. This year one of the instructors and two of the amateurs from the studio were finalists in the U.S. Nationals Ballroom Dance Competitions with one of the amateurs finishing in 1st place. They even brought in drums and we got to dance with people playing the drums. That was such a fun experience and it felt like a dance party which I loved. Parking is really easy, it's right up front and there's tons of parking. The location is very easy to see as well. The instruction was pretty great and everyone was super friendly. I do wish the instructor slowed down a little bit more and was more vocal about where you're shifting your weights and that sort of thing with the body mechanics but she was so so fun, and everybody was so welcoming and friendly. The dance was quite the workout, be ready to sweat! The instructors are very passionate about what they're doing and that really shows. Personally, I'm more of a Zumba gal so this style of dance was really out of my comfort zone and I didn't know what to expect. First time in, and the drop-in price for the class was $15. While waiting for the previous [full] class to finish in that room (Zumba), restrooms were all the way down the hall and they also have an Elkay water bottle filler. There were at least two or three more rooms in use for youth/teen classes, and folding chairs along the hallway for parents/spectators too. There were less than ten people total in the class by my estimate, and it is once a week recurring. It sounded like the past two weeks they were working on choreography moves, but this evening Joe wanted to focus on a basic skill tutorial/demo -- the Wave! The arm wave is one of the coolest foundational illusions in popping, where you make your arm look like a ripple of water. After a warmup meditative movement set, he really broke it down step by step, practicing each position, first a cappella then with music, slow first then sped up, then added variations/flair. Isolating each joint is the key: fingers/hands up, then pop wrist, elbow up, pop shoulder up, chest, then once at opposite shoulder, reverse the path down the other arm! He also showed us a trace wave transition into a body wave, popping the left knee, then right knee, hip, chest, head, then trace back to the arm/hand. You could even do the arm wave at shoulder level, down at your waist, with both arms parallel, or point at each pop of the body wave. He also showed us the difference between waving out versus waving in. One water break pause during the hour, but otherwise it was fun to learn and follow along. The class after us was Beg/Int Contemporary Fusion 8pm, then Heels at 8:30pm. I have been trying to join this gym for several weeks, and unfortunately, what should have been a…read moresimple process has turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. I live and work very close to the gym, so when my previous gym contract expired, I was genuinely looking forward to joining a facility that would be more convenient for both home and work. Unfortunately, I have found it surprisingly difficult to even get through the door. The gym doors are locked, and access depends on staff being present. The posted "staffed hours" are clearly listed on the door, but they do not seem to correspond with when anyone is actually there. Over the past two weeks, I stopped by three separate times during those posted staffed hours. Each time, no one was there. I knocked, waited outside, and called the gym, but received no response. I then submitted a contact form through the website and received an automated email saying that someone would be in touch soon. No one contacted me. I called again and left another message, and again, I received no response. At that point, I began to wonder whether the gym was closing or experiencing some larger issue. I looked at the reviews and noticed that the owner, Jason, appeared to be friendly and responsive to customers publicly. He had also shared his email address, so I decided to reach out to him directly in the hope that I could finally get some clarity and simply become a member. Unfortunately, my experience in private was very different from what I had seen in his public responses. While Jason was responsive, his emails came across as dismissive and defensive rather than helpful. There was no acknowledgment or apology for the fact that I had spent weeks repeatedly trying to contact the gym, despite making every effort to become a paying customer. Much of the conversation centered on defending the gym's staffing situation rather than addressing the very reasonable concern that the posted staffed hours did not appear to reflect when staff were actually present. I ultimately spent another two days going back and forth just trying to find a time when I could come in, sign up, and join. After nearly three weeks of trying, I decided that the amount of effort required simply to become a customer was no longer worth it. That is the part I find most disappointing. I wanted to support a local business, and I was actively trying to give them my business. It should not be this difficult for someone to become a paying member. I am heading to In-Shape today to sign up instead. It is a little farther from home, but at this point, I would much rather deal with a business that makes it reasonably easy for prospective customers to actually become customers. I hope the gym takes this feedback seriously. The issue is not that I expected special treatment; I simply expected the posted "staffed" hours to be accurate, my calls and messages to receive a response, and a straightforward membership inquiry to be handled with basic courtesy and professionalism.

If you have a membership at another anytime fitness gym and want to check this one out: BEWARE…read more.. they will lie and say your membership expired and have you sign up again at their gym all the while your getting charged at both gyms when 1 anytime fitness membership is supposed to cover all anytime fitness gyms. They will also refuse to give any refunds when you confront them over their lies and will harass you even after you closed your account for "collections and late fees" THANKS MATT!!!
