BEST PLACE FOR SOLVING ALL & EVERY PROBLEM WITH MAIL & PACKAGES AT THE WHOLE BORDER !!! I am very sorry to read the bad review from Lisa, because I do have exactly the opposite experience with The Back Porch, they are reliable, charge very fair per package, and do have a very open calculation for their service. Before being customer at The Back Porch, I have been in 5 (!) different other Mail-Center-Companies in McAllen, San Antonio, and Laredo. I have not been happy with these other places at all. Then I was introduced to The Back Porch around 10 years ago by a friend who is customer there since ever, and he told me about their amazing skills of work and problem solving. Honestly, he was so positive about The Back Porch, and I had so bad experience before, that I only singed up at The Back Porch with some reservations . . . Now guess what: In over 10 years, I DID NOT HAVE ONE PROBLEM. The truth is: The whole team of The Back Porch ALWAYS was and is amazingly helpful, and do their best to serve fast and professional. I am not exaggerating here at all, but I think it is valid to state the following: If every company in the USA would work as hard and as professional, and with your rare and perfect attitude TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY (!), nobody could beat America !!! I think this is the biggest compliment which can be given to a person or a company, and everybody there deserves it. I am a German, running a professional racing team with 8 rental-race-cars like 1965 Mustang Fastback, 1963, 64 and 65 Ford Falcon Futura, 1958 Studebaker Commander, BMW 2002 and other cars in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Therefore I need to go to Laredo every 4 to 6 weeks for picking up a lot of valuable race-car parts. Here is now how The Back Porch enters into the game: - "Normal" packages of all kinds of parts is perfect, NEVER a package was lost or damaged or whatever in over 10 years, and package handling is fast and reliable, even if I am picking up 150 packages at the same time. - "Problematic" Packages, like toxic fluids, or windscreens, or heavy engines or complete rear axles have been handled with care, stored very safe in their warehouse, and handled over to me with their forklift, and the help of up to 4 people for loading - I am amazed. - If UPS, DHL, FEDEX, and the HATED USPS gave me delivery problems, lost packages, or other strange problems, Sandy and her team ALWAYS have been very helpful. They know all the phone numbers to call, and how to professional deal with shipping companies. So they solved some real hard delivery problems for me - THANK YOU SO MUCH ! Of course, nobody is perfect, but if I ever had the slightest issue, it was solved ASAP - I even do not remeber one int his moment, this is the way to do, I am amazed ! Well, they are so good, that we put their company-sticker voluntary and with a lot of pride ( and without asking for money ! ) on all of our rental-cace-cars and service-trucks, and have their Logo and advertising on our Team-T-shirts FOR FREE. Sandy, Ricardo: We are a proud partner of The Back Porch, and you are the only business we do like to have to put on your advertising for free. Honestly, I would like to give congratulations to the WHOLE TEAM, you put so much effort in RUNNING for your customers to get everybody pleased. While I am repacking my boxes, ( sometimes up to 150 at the same time ), I need to spend hours in your place, and therefore have a good overview about your customer care and handling = I LOVE IT !!! Please keep on working with all the effort, responsibility and kindness as you have been doing since I joined your place - your team is as close to perfection as any team can be, I am using your example for my team education ;-) WELL, YOU REALLY GO THE EXTRA MILE TO SERVE CUSTOMERS WELL !!!!! I really loved this place. It's been in town for 28 years according to one of the employees, but I didn't know it existed. It's right by the railroad tracks and when i went inside it felt like i was on Platform 9 and 3/4 from Harry Potter. It's kind of stuck in time, but in a good way. read more

I have had a very bad experience with Back Porch. I have been a customer for almost a year, and each time I use their services, they charge me differently. They have never fully disclosed how they charge, and it is my belief that they make up the charges as they go. For example, when we first opened our box, they told us it is 15% of merchandise value to send packages to Monterrey. When we had our first package ready for sending to MTY, they tell us, well, it is 15%, but we have a $30 minimum charge (never disclosed to us before). Then the second time we used their service, they charged 20% rather than 15%.But they cannot tell us why they are charging 20% rather than 15%. Then the next time they tell us their minimum charge is $15. Then the next time they tell us their minimum is $25. Kind of unbelievable. I never know what I am going to be charged. The manager, Ricardo Rodarte, contacted me directly by email because of my complaints about the lack of consistency in charging. That was great. He told me he cares about each customer and wants to keep my business. I explain to him in detail what has been going on. And guess what? No reply!!!! There are so many ways to get US packages now to Mexico. Do not waste your energy with this company. read more

do not go here!!! worst place to go. they charged me $100 to mail a five pound package, and then they lied and told me it would only take 4-5 days to arrive. the package took an entire month!! the worst part was that the package was a quinceanera dress and it did not arrive on time for the party. do not use this place!!! go anywhere else. going here was my worst decision of the entire year. go literally anywhere else. read more
