Sony Repair "Sucks"! One of the worst experiences I has ever had with any company. I have called and called trying to find out about my Pro Camera SLT-a77., I was sent an estimate on a repair that was super high and all the note said was the price for the repair and call an toll free number to approve the repair. That's when all hell broke loose. First to took over an 1/2 hour to reach someone. The person on the phone had no idea what I was referring to even with the Order # took another 1/2 hour and still could help me. Then he found it told me I would get an email within 24 hours, didn't speak good English got mad because he didn't understand me so ask to speak with either a repair technician or a supervisor he lied then hung up on me. I called back waited another 1/2 hour got the same guy His exact words were "I told you there was no supervisor and you would get an email and hung up again. I waited another day (today) for the email which I never received, called waited this time 45 minutes got the same guy, asked him to speak to a supervisor his exact words were "I'm sick of this" which I replied "What did you say" no answer so I asked again now he tells me he is the supervisor and didn't I tell you to wait for the email? and hung up. I I then call support explained my issue, gave him everything he needed (numbers, names) he could not help me so he said let him talk to service before he put me on the line with them. Mind you I waited on each one of those phone calls over 1/2 hour each. Now I had to wait another 1/2 hour which I thought he was explaining my problem to the service person WRONG! To my surprise a lady comes on the phone with no idea what is going on with me or the problem. So I asked her to speak with a supervisor or a repair tech, but she said until I give her all of the info again she could not do anything. I asked if this was the repair facility or an off shore she lied and told me it was the repair facility, after continued questions she admitted she was an off shore. I asked to speak to someone who spoke English and at the facility, she would not do either. Now I am pissed off and have lost my patients. As I am penning this letter I still have not received the repair email or a call from anyone from Sony. I was switching from Canon Cameras to Sony Pro Cameras I have the SLT-A77 and the A700 and the A900 and was getting ready to buy the A99 not any more. The Hell with Sony! Love the products but the Service SUCKS! I just today got a call from Sony (from Florida) but it was from the Philippians. When she could not give me answers about my camera I asked to speak with a manager she said there was no manager, then said she would have me sent an email in 2 weeks with a manager's email address. I asked to speak with a technician at the Laredo facility where my camera was, she left me on hold for about 10 minutes acme back told me that was not possible. I now am becoming angry but I kept my cool and asked her to explain why I have not received the service email yet and could she explain what was wrong with my camera. No answer just told me how much it would cost and asked for my approval, which I told her no send my camera back. All I wanted was to repair the autofocus, she told me they wanted to fix some cosmetic stuff and I told her just to fix the autofocus. Then I was told they always fixed everything not just one thing so again I asked for my camera to be sent back. I have be called a racist, been disrespected, lied to, and mislead by this facility or at least the call center just by asking to speak to someone onshore no in another country. I have 3 sony cybershots that I use daily for work. We take an average of 30 pictures a day, every work day. I have owned two of these cameras for over 5 yrs using them continually. I have sent these cameras in as they had an issue and am VERY pleased with the response, repair made and cost. I am currently sending in a camera for upkeep, this will be our 6th interaction with Sony repairing/refurbishing our cameras. I trust them. I am patient, which helps, but I am VERY pleased. read more

Had some tech issues with a recently purchased Sony Video Camera. I went to their website, got connected to an online service rep, made arrangements to have warranty repairs made and the service from beginning to getting the camera back was excellent. I read some of the positive reviews on this facility, and I can only wish I was so lucky. I am beyond angry with this facility, and have written every executive in Sony North America possible. I am now calling Nicole Seligman's personal office to speak with her, as the buck certainly stops with the President of Sony Corporation. Why am I so angry. This repair facility took a $5,000.00 Flagship SACD player, the SCD-1, put 4 deep dents in the top of the player, packed it in a box only inches larger than the 70 lb player itself, threw away my original heavy weight shipping carton, put some expandable foam around the player and placed the electric cord with metal spades exposed, heavy spindle counterweight, batteries, and the aluminum remove control all right next to the player, and shipped it back to me, without even looking at the player, or at least that is what they said. How they could manage to get a CD drawer full of white debris and all down in the machine, I will never know! The player arrived at my door with all the accessory items all over the box, the player was all scratched up on one side, two stickers suck to the player that were gummy and nasty that simply would not come off, and what am I going to do, use Goop Off on a $5,000.00 SACD player? Four deep, nasty dents in the top of the player, scratches on the moving drawer and scratches by the drawer and the remote was completely scratched to pieces with deep gouges in the top and sides and the buttons were mashed and crushed. I forwarded Sony detailed pictures of the unbelievable damage. This went as high as Sony National Customer Relations, and I am still trying to find a way to get to Nicole Seligman and Kazuo Hirai and have been unsuccessful thus far. The fix that National Customer Relations offered, they wanted me to pay them $900.00 for the XA-5400ES SACD player to replace my SCD-1. As there simply are NO MORE SCD-1 SACD players, I would accept their substitute, even if it sells on Amazon for $1,350.00, roughly 1/4 the price of my $5,000.00 SCD-1, as there are no other choices but Sony does not wish to loose one penny, which is why they want me to pay them $900.00 for what they say is an exchange. I carefully explained this is NO EXCHANGE scenario, as they, and ONLY THEY damaged this player. Why should I be forced to pay them $900.00 for damaging my player? I WILL NEVER give up my fight with Sony, and obviously, who can sue an Empire like Sony. I will never forget what Robert in Sony National Customer Relations (Office of the President) said to me. Your player is over 7 years old, it has NO residual value to Sony Corporation. I was offered nothing other that the offer to pay them $900.00 for another player that is obviously nothing like my SCD-1. I have also emailed SonyListens.com at least a dozen times, NOTHING from them, no responses at all. So you Sony people out there, you need to listen and listen good. After 7 years, no matter what your piece of equipment costs, you are out of luck, no parts, no service, NO NOTHING, and if you send your component to Laredo Texas, I hope it's not an expensive piece of equipment, because you are taking your life in your own hands! read more
