When visiting Milford with a good friend over Christmas break, we decided to stop by The Mad…read moreSoaper's. We were so glad we did as we had a blast trying on products and smelling the beautiful candles. The shop itself is just gorgeously decorated and is like stepping back in time into an apothecary: bottles, vintage wall art, and a green velour chair in the corner for the tired shopper. The proprietor of the shop, Leila Hazou, was so welcoming and when I couldn't find an "Athena" rollerball, she offered to make one for me!! I also ended up purchasing the migraine rollerball that will offer natural relief for those days wrecked by my headaches. My friend couldn't leave the store without purchasing one of Leila's candles. The store hours are Thursdays through Mondays, 11am- 5pm. Leila also has an online store and occasionally offers an in person candle making class, which I look forward to taking in the future.

I was with my 8-year-old cousin and Leila was so patient and kind to her. I can't wait to visit again when I'm back in town. Until then, I'm certainly ordering for holiday gifts!

Patti is a lovely soul with such an eclectic style and big personality- I just love visiting her. I could buy her stuff online, but Patti helps me find items that looks good on me, and she makes me feel like a model! Her styling sessions are so much fun! Plus everything smells so good in the shop, and the scent lasts for days after I take my purchase home. My sister and I always get compliments on our outfits, and people keep asking where we got them. ANSWER: The Funky Hippy Chic Boutique! Patti's shop is right near the new Kartrite resort and water park. My city friends and local friends too! If you're in the area, the Funky Hippy is a must visit!

The suffusion of colors and textures and magic is almost overwhelming. Though it's an hour from my house I would rather drive there than many regular stores far closer. Patty the owner not only is kind and has a great eye but also is usually dressed in such a fabulous way herself it's worth the journey just to see her. Don't miss this absolutely unique gem of a spot. I always find something there that is perfect to buy and if you are an artsy, creative person so will you!
