If I knew how to create using needles I'd always shop here to find the perfect yarn for that perfect gift. This shop is thoughtful and gorgeously rustic, walls and tables overflowing with skeins of different colors and weights of wool, all labled with the harvest location and some Shepards - this is where you go to find "that one yarn from the wool of that guys/gals sheep". There is a slight midieval feel to the interior - a far cry from your local craft store "yarn wall". It's incredible, and the resident well behaved whippets are an added bonus surprise.

The lady ("maybe" owner) was very helpful, although she didn't introduce herself, hence the "maybe". I think intros are a thing of the past ? Well, the yarn shop was super cool and most, if not all, were hand dyed by her. I didn't see knitting needles or other tools in the shop and I didn't get to ask either. However, I wish that she had a free pattern with the yarns that I purchased for my young lady . It is on the pricey side, 2 skeins for approximately $65 (rounded up from a few cents short of the price given). I know my daughter will find the perfect pattern for these beautiful skeins. We will be back when we are in Port Gamble. If you love specialty yarn shops, you will love this place . She wound up the 2 skeins when I asked her to , thank you.

There are good yarn shops in Seattle, but the Artful Ewe is absolutely worth the drive and/or ferry trip.

I'm so glad we live in a world where concepts like this exist…read more I've never knitted or crochet, but I've recently picked up sewing and it's grown my appreciation and curiosity for hand crafting. Needles & Hooks is stocked with more yarn than I previously thought existed on planet earth. They have every color/pattern you could imagine and all the accessories to go along with it. I also love the art pieces scattered throughout the shop, giving it a whimsical feel. I truly couldn't pick a favorite.. but gun to my head? I loved the hand knitted frogs. Whether you're an experienced knitter or just looking to breathe in all the crafty air, this is a great place to spend your weekend. I felt my body instantly gravitate to this store and left feeling inspired to create.

I promised a friend that I'd make her a beanie as a bridal shower present. From looking online I…read morehad decided what yarn I was aiming for but I didn't trust colors on my screen. Needles and Hooks was just a nice as the last time I went. The yarn here is more expensive than a Michaels but most if not all yarn will have natural fibers. The person who helped me out is really nice and helped verify my yarn color choices. If you buy a hank of yarn, they'll offer to cake it. I've taken the offer before and it turns out nice. I didn't during this visit. There is a decent amount of people who come to knit on Thursdays but I was there to shop. Shopping during that hour is a bit less popular since people are crafting. Parking is great and I will still mourn the fact they had to move inside the mall from their spot outside with a nice window.
