After flying into Kalispell airport this is a great stop to get some treats and ice cream! We've been here two days and have come into this store twice for their soft serve ice cream! Love coming to the fruit stand. That is not a problem. Excellent customer service and friendly staff. The little offshoot consignment store area is what I dislike. The staff here is a bunch of older ladies who are downright rude! Any vendors in here should beware that these ladies could be and probably are harming your sales! My mom, son and I came into look at beads. Of course the toy section caught my two year olds eye and I took him over there. They had several items I had actually been searching for. My little one climbed in the little car we've been looking to buy and the lady came around the corner within the first two minutes were there, as he was getting out, she said "no no, get out of that car. this area is not to play in, it's only to purchase" I must have had a puzzled look on my face as she never identified herself, was scolding my own child in front of me and was wearing a purse, as if she was a customer. She then said, "why are you making that face?" SERIOUSLY? I said, "I didn't mean to make any sort of face, but I'm trying to figure out who you are and what you're telling us. She again reiterated that this was not a play area. I said "well I was intending on purchasing from this area but not anymore." I told my son "sorry baby we have to leave, you can't touch anything" this of course lead to him crying and I had to physically remove him from the store. I just can't believe that someone would talk to us this way and really expect a child not to touch toys. Not coming back here. read more

On the way out of Montana we decided to come here and see what prodice they had. Evidently this part of Montana id well known for their cherries that grow along Flathead lake as well as huckleberries. So we came here, its right off the highway. Its a nice small place that sells many different types of fruits and vegetables, as well as other edible knickknacks. It seems like a family runned operation, small and eclectic. They even have a little bakery connected to the market (that wasn't open at the time) and a wine tasting area (unsure if its the same business, on the other side). They sold everything huckleberry there from actual huckleberries ($15/pound!!!), huckleberry coffee (which tastes amazing), huckleberry pancake mix even huckleberry chocalates. We also bought several bags of cherries to bring home. The cherries were large and meaty. Extremely juicy and flavorful. You can tell they were picked right at the peak of freshness. Also on the more expensive side but was definitely worth it to be able to say I had cherries and huckleberry from Montana. People there were nice and conversative as well. I love the Apple Barrel! It is a hidden gem. Right next to the fun zone if you were headed towards the airport. All of their food is fresh and they make a lot of their own things. You can get any kind of vegetable that is in season pretty much because it is all grown locally and really amazing quality. They also do wine tastings but I think they may be particular times, not totally positive. They have a lot of brochures and tourist info if you are new to the area or just visiting. They have amazing treats if you have a sweet spot. There is also a thrift store semi attached that has some interesting things. I always get a whole crate of apples because their apples are the best I've had! I just don't know what I'd do without this place now that I've been there, I couldn't go without it! read more

Loved this little place, best price on huckleberries and they have the eco scrubbies, I get every year im here from Washington.

In addition to fresh produce and other rood items, The Apple Barrel has a great selection of local products. Since I'm a tourist I bypassed all the fruit and veg and went for the huckleberry chocolate bars and other such items, but the fresh produce looked mighty tasty. The location is convenient off the highway and is joined with a deli and a wine tasting room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely come again. read more

Stopped here to purchase some local products while in vacation from Las Vegas, Nevada. They have a great selection of fresh fruit & veggies along with local wine, honey, jams & jellies. I bought a couple of beautiful tomatoes for our lunch, a bottle of Flathead Cherry Wine to take home to my daughter (the tasting room is very nice), 2 bottles of local raw honey and some Cherry Jam. All the employees are very nice and it was a great stop. read more

Love this place! Aside from the GREAT produce, they carry many local items (ie: breads, pies, eggs, jerky etc) Definetly worth the stop.

We visited the apple barrel this Summer just prior to their expansion to about 11,000 square feet. By the end of September they will have added a Winery and an Events Center. The meeting and presentation room is said to be for special events organized by 'outside' persons or organizations on a fee basis. The Fruit Stand has been moved closer to the middle of the structure and is larger, well displayed, and full of a wide variety of fruits, veggies and other tempting foods. We had a great sandwich, huckleberry soda, and a sample of about 7 different wines. Their homemade huckleberry pies are to lust after. All in all, we hade a very enjoyable visit and are planning another trip as soon as possible. the Lamberts read more
