I decided to go here for my birthday in August and I ordered a red bull only no alcohol that night. So I drank it all and I had to leave the place because I felt sick and threw up. The energy drink made me feel sick. Ok so I went here last night. Halloween night and again I order one drink ok just one red bull drink no alcohol at all because I am driving. Been here a couple times...This is actually a cool little dive bar out in the outskirts of Downey.. They have a good beer selection. Bottled and canned, and a full bar. The bartenders are pretty hot as well. The owner is really nice, and always around. Bathrooms are clean. Now music, gotta love all the industrial, 80's mixes they play. Came here yesterday, and yes more of a suasage fest for all you ladies. We came in around 11pm, and place was not packed, but by 12pm, the dance floor was packed as well as the little bar area. Okay in all seriousness, it's a cool place to hang, its not ridiculously loud to where you can't hear the person next to you, but don't be fooled it's not some hipster coffee house, where everyone speaks in hummingbird voices. I came here on a Friday night. They had a small line outside, but they got everyone in within a timely manner. It's a small kind of hole in the wall bar in Downey. They play lots of 80s music and a variety of some old school hip hop and Spanish rock. I checked out this place a few weeks ago on a Monday night. They have karaoke with a live band (The Burn). They're amazing!!! They play a cool variety of tunes from Alice in Chains, to Santana, Pantera, to No Doubt, and even THE WHITE STRIPES!!! It's a total dive. It can be a little intimidating going up there to sing because 1) the band is so awesome and 2) almost everyone that goes up to sing is GOOD. I figured they're locals that frequent the bar...or practice a lot. :p And if you don't know the lyrics, no worries. They've got a music sheet note stand with a binder full of lyrics. For a dive bar I would give it 5 stars because you can't expect opulence, that's why it's called a dive bar people. This place had pretty much what you can expect from a bar beer and booze, I normally stick to beer but my boyfriend really enjoyed the drinks he ordered and at a good price. The place is a little old but I like that they have the 80's decor which goes great with the great 80's music that they were playing last night. The bathrooms need a little TLC but that's what you can expect from a dive bar, although I have seen worse in the so called hip and trendy bars. The bartenders were nice and made sure to come around and ask if you needed anything else throughout the evening. We stopped by on a Friday night and there was a good amount of people. It's a small bar with chill people which makes for a cool atmosphere. There were a few people dancing and other just standing around listening to the DJ. On Friday and Saturday's they play the best of the 80's and We parked in the shopping center across the street and walked on over. They have a security person at the main entrance checking ID's prior to entering. The restrooms were pretty clean for a bar. I probably won't go back or want to go back myself unless one of my friends wants to go to this bar again. I had heard so many great things about this bar being so amazing that I had high expectations for it. Once insider, there wasn't anything that blew my mind. Was my first time and the security guard was extremely rude when I tried to have a conversation with him. Another security guard alerted me that he was new and kept saying to him "customer service, customer service!!!" but it seemed like he cared less about customer service. I did my best to be nice to him until he threw my brother's beer into the trash when he wasn't being rude to him. I'm so appalled with his behavior. I've never been so disrespected. Greg helped us and he was extremely nice. The gentleman who was rude seemed to be African American. I won't ever return to this bar after hearing about it for years. Awesome dive bar. I came here with the wifey because she loves the music they play. I'm a fan of 80's as well so I had a really good time. This is a dive bar in every sense of the word. Everyone is pretty much there to have a good time and chill. The drink specials that they have are also pretty legit. I think they have $2 drinks until 11 or 10:30. All house alcohol, but that's a deal that can't be beat. If you get like a long island or a drink like that it will cost you $8, but it will be worth every penny because the drinks are super strong. They have a mini dance floor that you can dance at if you've had enough $2 drinks lol. read more

I went there last night to take advantage of there $2 before 10:30 drink special... I had a total of 8 drinks between my girlfriend and I. And ended up with a $31.00 total not including the tip I left.I was conscious of the time and I know for a fact she overcharged me thinking I wouldn't notice on my bill. It was a woman with leopard tattoos who was bartending that night. My girlfriend also mentioned to me that at 10:17 the bartender charged two women In front of my girlfriend full price for the drinks and the girls were not aware of the happy hour deal.my girlfriend made sure to remind the bartender that it was still happy hour and the bartenders face wasn't too pleased. Aside from the shady service And moving toward trying to use a restroom I'm a male and and used to shitty restrooms in public places, I'm not expecting it to be a five star restroom but C'MON MAKE A WALL SO A GUY CAN TAKE A SHIT and they could have at least left some paper towels to dry your hands or a air dryer. Visited last night st. Patty's day. It was 80s music all night and some rock en espanol . My sisters her friend and I felt at home. We loved the music, the crowd was fun and cool. The bartenders were efficient . All employees working hard and fast. We got in easily at 11am no issues. No rowdiness at all. We had a great time! We will be back again! The missing star was for the women's restroom. I can see the issue, because it's next to the dance floor and it's only two stalls in it. So it's hard to make a line and the door is not allowed to stay open which makes sense plus it's hard to organize a bunch of drunk girls that need to pee. I don't usually give bad reviews to places unless they really deserve it and I gotta say that this place definitely deserves a bad review all thanks to one extremely rude bartender. I went to The Anarchy for the first time on this past Sunday (St. Patrick's Day) with my girlfriend, her sister and their friend. Started out decent, waited in the line patiently to get a drink at the bar. The first two bartenders were ok, nothing special, kinda just did enough to get by. The bartenders there were a taller guy and a shorter girl. Fast forward toward the end of the night. My girlfriend asks me to get her some water. This is after having about 4 drinks each (2 beers and 2 shots each). Mind you they have a $10 dollar minimum at the bar for debit cards. I say, sure, I'll get you some water. I walk over to the bar and it is a new bartender. I ask her for some water and she proceeds to tell me 3 three times in a very condescending way that they only have bottled water all while ignoring me by looking away every time I would give her a thumbs up (loud music). She brings a water over and says $3 dollars, again in a very very rude way. I pull my card out and give it to her and again in a very condescending way she says, "it's a $10 dollar minimum." I tel her in a very mild mannered way, "I only have a card and I just spent more than $50 dollars on drinks." She then proceeds to tell me that I am being rude and signals her posse of security guards to kick me out. I felt very disrespected and just overall disappointed at the service there from this woman who I found out from the security guard as I was being escorted out that she is "the new manager" and also that she "is like one of the owners"-(paraphrasing what the security guard told me). Anyway, the woman who threw me out, refused to serve me water, and is apparently the "owner" of the bar has cheetah print tattoos on her shoulder, unfortunately I did not get her name, I'm sure if I asked the security guard, he would have told me. He was actually pretty chill and it seemed like he was used to her behavior. I hope that this review reaches the proper people of this establishment or even the person who treated me this way and also gives a warning to people planning to go there that they should stay away. I know I was honestly having a good time there with the music and dancing and it's sad that the whole experience was ruined by one person and now I will most likely not go back and I will definitely share with other people the negative experience I had of being tossed out of a place called the Anarchy for being "rude" while trying to order water. This is one of the worst bars I've wasted my time going to in years. I went recently after a 5 year absence thinking maybe it will be better this time, because I like the music genres they play there. First of all, we showed up and one of our friends didn't have their vaccination card. So we went to the car to look for it, and came back in about 10 minutes. When we got back the bouncer charged us because it was 10:03, he knew we were just there and could have gotten in for free, rude! Then when we were inside, the bartenders are super weird. They're not friendly at all, don't say hello, or engage you at all. They stare at you until you say what drink you want. The drinks are way over priced for being this shitty of a bar. You can go to actually fun dive bars in Lakewood ca where drinks are easily 5-7$ each, not 12$. During our time there, there was no where to sit, so we stood up the whole time. One of my friends walked out to go to her car to get more money for drinks and when she came back they charged her another $5 to get in. This bar is straight trash, the service sucks, you pay an entrance fee for literally nothing and the drinks are overpriced. This place is great! I went on a Thursday night it was 80's night. in the beginning the dance floor was dead, but once all the drinks were flowing it got popping!
