There are things I love about the Alexander and things I don't. The hotel is actually two older hotels that have been consolidated into one larger modern entity. It's tastefully renovated with great artwork lining the walls of beautifully lit and decorated hallways and common areas. My room ended up being one of their "apartment style" extended stay suites. It was obvious that this building was probably something like a Residence Inn that had seen better days but flipped quickly and cheaply to be part of the larger project. My room, although clean, felt liker corners had been cut. However, my coworkers who stayed in the main tower all said their rooms were great and fully updated. Decent gym and super convenient location. Friendly staff. Definitely worth a stay.

Taylor was so thoughtful at the check-in desk and put all those in our group on the same floor. Fresh ice water is available in the lobby area along with several seating areas, artwork, and a fireplace. The rooms are spacious and clean. This is my second time here and it's as lovely as I remember it. Great meeting spaces and delicious food, too.

We stopped in here after our walk around downtown. I just love the colors inside and out of the Alexander. As we're walking down south street towards it, you can see that this is not an ordinary hotel. The bar area has beautiful glass lamps hanging at different heights throughout. The hallways and common areas all have art displayed for free in a fun atmosphere. And the sidewalk lights up too. At least 4 Great restaurants in the immediate area!

My husband and I wanted to do a staycation and we had it narrowed down to two locations in downtown Indy, and the Alexander Hotel was the winner! We chose the hotel for two reasons 1) cost. For this great location and beautiful hotel, I found this hotel cost very reasonable! Could it be cheaper, sure! But it's not stupid expensive. Then when you get there, it really does make it all worth it. The place is stunning! Every worker we came across was incredibly kind and willing to offer help. Our room was spacious and clean. We loved everything about our stay, including the hotel bar, Platt 99 and attached restaurant, Nesso. We made the most out of our stay, and we look forward to doing this again!

Good location and interesting artwork throughout the hotel. Great bar and restaurant onsite. Pleasant staff. Bed was a bit uncomfortable and a lot of items broken and some were never repaired (refrigerator, room safe, coffee maker, remote). Maybe I just got the broken room? Lol! Would still recommend, but it was a very frustrating stay. Wish you better luck! :)

When Indy was selected as the city to host our work's annual summit gathering, I was PUMPED. I was even more excited when I learned that we'd all be staying at The Alexander Hotel, including me, who lived in an apartment that was only a few blocks away. There's nothing I love more then feeling like a tourist in my own city. I was already a big fan of the hotel before I ever stayed here, due to their amazing restaurants and bar. On the street (below the hotel), you'll find Nesso, one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. It's classy, delicious, and was created by a local restaurant company who nails every restaurant concept they touch. When you walk in the hotel entrance and go up the stairs, you'll see tons of colorful blown glass lanterns raining down from the ceiling. It's absolutely stunning and they lead you not only to the reception desk, but also to a cocktail and coffee bar, Plat 99, right off the lobby. Plat 99 makes some of the best drinks and apps you'll ever have, and turns into a coffee shop with homemade pastries by day. They have a big balcony with heat lamps as well as indoor seating. The entire hotel has a ton of famous and funky art throughout -- everything from murals in the parking garage to a big Madam Walker installation made out of combs. When I was brought to the room, I instantly loved how comfy it was, as well as the fact that they'd put a fun snack basket from our company in each room beforehand. Such a fun touch. The bed was comfy, the shades kept the room dark and there was minimal noise. We used one of the conference rooms for morning yoga and had a wonderful experience overall. Thank you, Alexander staff!

It has been a while since we've stayed at a hotel, and not had a single complaint. Super friendly staff, super clean, and great location.

I just spent a week at the Alexander and they wowed me every single day. Its big, its gorgeous, its sleek, its modern. Honestly, its spectacular. There is art everywhere you look -cool wall hangings made out of all kinds of materials, big bold colorful murals everywhere, statues and carvings everywhere. There is one giant piece of wall art in the lobby that appears to be a portrait of a man, but its made out of thousands of combs. Really ! In the halls, in the lounges, in the rooms, in the elevator landings, in the parking garage -everywhere you look is beauty and art and creativity. The staff was amazing- they smiled at me whenever I walked by and they remembered my name after one day. Our room was large and comfortable with plenty of outlets, sitting options, a nice TV, a room fridge, a K-Cup Machine, and a modern bathroom with a great shower. Our convention meeting rooms were perfect and the AV and internet worked well. And the food !! I had every breakfast, and just about every lunch and dinner inside the Alexander. Whether it was in the Market Table restaurant, or our banquet rooms, the food was stellar. The gelato bar received high marks. Just a few sore points. The parking rates are absurdly high. Valet parking runs a hefty $42 per night, or you can self park at $35 a night in an attached garage. Make sure you park on the garage's third floor to take advantage of the connected pedestrian skyway which leads to the hotel's second floor. Secondly -a few words about the location. The Alexander is in an under developed section of Indianapolis. Although its an easy walk to the mall, downtown, and the restaurants on Meridian Street, the odds are very high that you will be walking past some homeless folks who have taken residence on the sidewalks.

The Alexander Hotel is our go to place when doing an adults only staycation in Indianapolis. During the warmer months it's a reasonable walk to Circle Center Mall, Mass Ave, Bainbridge Fieldhouse or Lucas Oil Stadium. Besides being in a convenient spot, it's artwork, ambiance, and hotel bar set it apart from the rest of the field. My wife and I have stayed at this hotel multiple times for events, concerts, and New Years Eve and have never been disappointed.

We absolutely loved this hotel! The staff was so friendly and helpful during our stay; they made us feel extremely welcomed. The room we stayed in was decorated for Christmas and it was adorable. The room was stocked with teas, coffees, and waters and plenty of towels. The attached bar and restaurants to the hotel are super convenient for happy hour and dinner as well!

We stayed one night in one of the two bedroom residence suites. The room was great and had the space we needed. Beds a little firm but I could deal with that. However the showers in both bedrooms were so small it was nearly impossible to feel like you were getting clean. If you are anything larger than average the shower is too small and made smaller by the bad placement of a shower caddy at chest height right across from the handle. The whole shower space was probably 30 inches square (see picture). Additionally one of the wash clothes in the shower, which had been laundered so it was technically clean, had make up stains on it from a prior guest which was very off-putting.

Deconstructed salmon bagel - $20 and 45 min wait

It's hard for me to imagine a more low class "high class" hotel. Rooms are comfortable but front desk staff were very unhelpful, multiple charges on credit card that weren't real, coffee maker not working in room and they wouldn't replace, and a weed smell Saturday night My "highlight" however was ordering breakfast room service. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel and it took 45 minutes to arrive. When it did it was DECONSTRUCTED. They put a bagel, smoked salmon, and cream cheese all separately on a plate and it took 45 minutes??? I gave my $20 The Alexander breakfast credit from my company in exchange for the bill and the woman said "I don't know how to do this"... uhh?

Other than that, I loved that it is a Hilton hotel, and the fact that it was lower in cost by a lot once I utilized my Expedia OneKeyCash rewards. I must mention parking because it was one thing that made me selective of hotel stay in the area. At Home2 Suites, valet parking is listed at $45.00, but if you want to take a chance there are parking garages in the surrounding area which cost around the same price. I parked at the garage located within Regions Tower and paid only $50.00 overnight. And there is metered parking in the area, if you are lucky to find a spot. My experience with the receptionist working behind the counter was nothing less than professional. Since my room had already been booked through Expedia, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing of what the hotel offers, and giving me my room key. For your information check-in starts at 3:00 PM and ends at 12:00 AM! And check-out ends at 11:00 AM! Home2 Suites, as expected, appeared immaculately beautiful! After locating and entering the room I stayed in, I said to myself "Lovely" once I took notice of the room and its kitchenet area. It came with a refrigerator, dishwasher, a sink with garbage disposal, plus cabinets with dishware and pots & pans inside. Now the furniture in the room gave the room somewhat of a homely like feel. The couch, and the carpet on the room looked like something you would see in your grandmother's house I swear, tehehe. The workspace in the room had a rollable table along with a rollable chair. And inside of the bathroom, there were liquid hygiene products inside of the shower attached to the wall. Seems like hotels are slowly doing away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that make great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in-between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I was satisfied with the water pressure of it, as well as being able to toggle with the spray patterns. Other things the room came with that I noticed were an iron, ironing board, an extra comforter, and a few lamps with electrical outlets. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Served from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM on weekdays, and from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM on the weekend; it was a relief to have the complimentary breakfast because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant in the area. Using a waffle maker for the first time ever was a fun experience I must say. Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of what was presented for the complimentary breakfast. I would surely book with Home2 Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Downtown again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of my interest in the city of Indianapolis. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G

That is poor customer service. Let me be clear. They were not busy. I woke up at nine a m with a paper under my door. I received a charge of $585!!!!! Now let me just tell you, i went in my room and went right to sleep, because I was exhausted for my day of travel. This letter told me that I had been smoking in the room and charged me this amount. I immediately called down a customer service and was told that they would take it off when the manager came in at eleven o'clock. I was somewhat relieved at this, so I went on with my morning and got ready and went down and waited. The manager assured me that they would not charge my card and that I had not been charged yet. They went ahead and charged my card for the room. I checked my card and I had only been charged for the room and a $50 charge for a deposit. I settled for some points to makeup for the "error". I'm also used to have a doorman at major city hotels of which there was none and so we had to rely on the kindness of the valet to get us a cart and helpunload all of our bags. On a plus side, the rooms were clean all the amenities worked. The bathroom set up was a little odd, however with the toilet right under and adjacthe sink so I can't say I've seen that one before. Also some standing water in the shower when in use. However, I did sleep very well. The blackout curtains were excellent then AC wasn't annoying making tons of noise. Having worked in hospitality, I understand that anybody can have a bad night, but overall our stay was great and we would definitely recommend this place for anyone coming in town from one of the major events or anyone just looking to have a fun staycation.

I was in town for a conference, and last year I booked a hotel two months before it and my hotel was about a mile away (oddly enough, a Hampton Inn co-located with a Homewood Suites), so this time I booked in January. Customer service here was superb, from start to finish. After checking in, I received a text asking how everything was going, and during my stay I was able to send follow-up texts if I had questions or needed anything. In addition, I was able to borrow/sign out an umbrella one day when it was raining - there's a $25 fee if you don't return it that day, but it's a very nice service they offer. I realized I forgot a shower cap one day, too, and the front desk was able to provide me with one. Pros: -Huge and unique rooms. The building is from the late 1800s and has been repurposed into this hotel. I think my room was bigger than my first apartment! -Nice sitting area with a couch even though I had a king studio suite. Huge kitchen with full-size fridge and freezer, plus flatware and even cooking utensils. -Large bathroom area, although no bathtub, just a shower. -Free breakfast daily, and they even had almond milk and oat milk for cereal - I have to drink non-dairy milk exclusively and hotels rarely have it available. -Free cookies at front desk -The staff was super friendly, when I returned every day from the conference I was welcomed back Cons: -Very few from me, but: no safe in the room -Towels are small but that's normal for most hotels nowadays -Wifi was a little wonky - on my computer and work iPhone it was fine, and also fast, but on my Android/personal phone, texts were delayed. I'm going to chalk this up to my phone being weird. Overall I LOVED my stay here and would 100% stay here again. If you're in town for a convention, it's only a two-block aka five-minute walk to the convention center, too, which was great.

Great stay and friendly service. Beds were comfy, had hot water. All the Hampton Inn amenities and traditional Hampton Inn Breakfast (but the share with Homewood Suites). The self parking situation makes me nervous, especially since i left and came back late. I lucked out finding a spot at the very end. I would have most likely had to switch to valet both are pricy but the self-parking is limited and no real close by options I could find. Hilton Honors members get member rates for both the Homewood and Hampton. I chose Hampton for the better price and bonus points are higher. I was not disappointed and would say pleasantly surprised. Rooms were great. Hotel was clean and loved it had the historic church incorporated into the hotel, as well as a great location. I even walked down to Kroger to pick up some snacks. For service, rooms, atmosphere, and overall quality I have to go with 5 starts here and would love to stay here again.

We stayed in Hampton section and room looked over to IU Indianapolis University which was nice to see since that's why we were here but it did come with noise. We were on 5th floor and the sirens definitely made an impression as they past by. It didn't negatively impact our stay but probably would choose a room away from busy roads. The hallways for Hampton were much colder than Homewood hallways but our room was nice and comfortable. I got to enjoy the pool which was really nice. And all the staff have been great. Raleigh checked us in and she was awesome.
