A little disappointed in this Marriott. The property has some potential but at the same time needs some attention. We were told when booked the pool area was just remodeled. Nothing about the pool area seemed remodeled and it was actually very dirty in the floor with dirt, grime, fake nails, hair just nasty all 3 days of our stay. If you stay on the conference side of the building it does not feel like they turn in the AC in the hallways and potentially a long walk from parking and they had "no" luggage Cart. The bar restaurant area was nice and the buffet was decent, and staff friendly. But definitely not a good representation of Marriott. read more

I say okay because the pasta could've used some more sauce it was dry. It was also really cold inside here. I had to keep my winter coat on due to how cold it was. Do not stay at this hotel!! I stayed here 2 different instances, a year apart. Both stays were a complete nightmare. They overbook and treat you like you're the problem. Some of the staff are pretty awesome, but unfortunately they do not make up for the incompetence of the rest. The manager at the front desk will lie to you and promise to compensate you for your troubles; and pretty much tell you whatever you want to hear just to get you to go away. Stayed recently for a church convention. First, the hotel is located by several hotels and fast food restaurants. However the area seems to be changing. In the past, I imagine this was a beautiful hotel with a gorgeous courtyard in the center of the hotel. But now ... well it needs a lot of love and repairs. The house keeper who helped us to the room did mention they're planning a renovation for next year. I hope so since our church booked the place for two years. This could be bad! So the room is basic and for an accessible room was quite tight. I was surprised by the amount of furniture and limited space to move round for my mom's scooter. The house keepers were very friendly. We only had our restroom cleaned since I also attended a virtual conference at the same time and needed to use the room desk. The house keeper office was just down the hall and everyone including the supervisors were attentive and friendly. Our first night and one morning we ate in the on-site restaurant. It was all good but pricey for this level of hotel. If it was up to me I'd probably would not returned due to preference being in newer hotels and a different area but I'll probably be back since our convention is returning next year. Let's hope they're able to complete a significant portion of the renovation. read more

First time coming here, this place is big and spacious upon first glance. Checking in was a bit difficult with pulling up my reservation. Please make sure that you put the parking pass on your car. The rooms were okay, I had a first floor room so I had a cool sliding door to go outside if need be. Perfect if you're a cigarette smoker. Beautiful pool and hot tub. What I was dissapointed about was that there are no microwaves in the room and you have to haul your way down to the front lobby, and use that microwave! It smells really bad too. Gorgeous, gorgeous girls believe in collecting their Bonvoy rewards, so gorgeous, gorgeous girls book Marriott at all costs. I typically try and book a Mariott property closer to the city/airport but, given the one busy weekend of the Indiana calendar year (Indy 500) there weren't any rooms available. So I booked closer to the east side and stayed at Marriott East for 2 nights in Spring of '22. It's obviously outdated, giving all the Shining vibes, and was also hosting a youth Christian retreat so I heard trust falls and worship music deep into the night but, didn't mind. I was very impressed by the gentleman who checked me in, he went above and beyond to communicate hotel layout, basic parking instructions, and elevator access. The gym is truly tragic but, there is equipment in it and it does work. Is it Le Meridian downtown? No, but, it works and I'm now a few nights closer to Bonvoy glory. read more

Let's just get into this review. Cons: Was given a room key to a room that was already occupied. Very awkward when I walk in to see a man sitting down The door to the new room we were assigned didn't completely close. I had to push all my suitcases against the door and lock the top. The wifi didn't work. Zero internet access, my laptop warned me of a high threat level and would not allow me to connect. Unsafe area and unpleasant smell in hotel. Hallways are decorated with a yellow floral wallpaper. The building is very, very old. The AC was extremely loud when it kicked on. Paper. Thin. Walls. Oh lord. I did not sleep but three hours in this hotel room, guests were so loud into the wee hours of the night. A group of drunk girls literally fell against my door. They were giggling and attempting to get into my room but quickly realized they were on the wrong floor. Black marks everywhere in the shower and a blood stain on the curtains. I cannot believe this was a Marriott. Room was dirty. I was scared to sleep in the bed. Almost $20 for 4 small butternut squash stuffed raviolis and they forgot my fries and my water. The Mac n cheese was an abomination. It shouldn't even be called Mac n cheese. $10 for Rigatoni noodles in a gritty watery cheese like sauce. Pros: The young man at the front desk was very nice. No bedbugs. Conclusion: For $195 a night, you can stay up all night worrying and feeling gross in your room. For $50 a night you can stay in a motel 6 and feel the same way, but save $140. I came here for a banquet so Im only reviewing the banquet service and food. The banquet staff should be retrained on how to properly service a large event with a plated meal. Half of our table was served and then they moved on to other tables instead of making sure the entire table is served first. We had to flag someone down to get the last 2 plates for the table. Then after getting the food, I had regrets. The dinner was a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and asparagus. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The mashed potatoes were thick and gummy. In town for a volleyball tournament and this location was the closest to the venue. Our team coordinator called 3 times to get a group rate, none of which were returned. Strike 1. We got to the hotel the night before to find a football clinic being held for high school football. The lobby/bar are was full of men drinking, to the point that conversations got so lively that the local police & sheriffs were called in later that night to break it up...in the lobby. Get to the room & find 1/2 a 2L of Dr Pepper in the room fridge...not mine. Strike 2. While sitting in the chair putting my shoes for dinner, I happen to look over and see a BOOGER on the wall!!! It's so big with 3 hotels connected and large meeting halls in this Marriott center, sharing the garden, swimming pool and fitness. Marriott East is hotel not residence inn, upgrade suite for us, quite spacious and comfortable. Room is clean and well equipped, but elevator is old and slow. Lounge is quite small, but with good quality of food. Easy and free to park. read more

Alright where to start. We visited this establishment a year ago, beautiful visit review on google. So here we are 2023 and a new review. In my integrity, I must be honest. 1. yes I still five star the Indianapolis Marriott East because there are still very good quality in this establishment. One being that the staff are extremely professional, friendly, assistive and courteous. 2. The parking lot, smoke area and entrance to lobby is well kept (Please don't complain about the debris that makes it into the lobby for it walks in with us). 3. Even though many complaints about the slowness of the elevator just keep in mind a fast elevator could become a problem the faster the elevator could burn a cord and you're stuck or will drop. So I see nothing wrong with slow movement of the elevator. 4. Alright I admit the rooms needs some work just like any dwelling over years of usage but if you the guest would inquire you would learn that the Indianapolis Marriott East is going soon under remodeling, trust you me the staff and management are aware of the issues that the establishment is going through. As a reviewer I do read others review but I don't solely base my choosing on others negative reviews those are the reviews that may bring me to checkout those establishments out myself because some complaints are truly isolated that only happens with the writer, I do believe with integrity as a reviewer we should be honest on an isolated situation and not ruin a business because of one or two that presents unprofessional behavior giving the establishment a chance to rectify and handle the employee/employees . Customer service was on point. As soon as we checked in, any questions I had were answered. The room was clean and comfortable enough for me and my three daughters to have a girls weekend. There are. It many places in the bathroom to put towels and shower needs. I chose this hotel based on the location to the children's museum. However, The pricing is considerably higher compared to hotels on the same street. The pool area was nice but needed attention and cleaning. The tiles are extremely slippery. My littlest fell just standing and was hurt badly. The restaurant is convenient but the buffet is not included with your stay and is pricey to add on. Recently stayed for pool tournament 4 nights. Had a mouse in our first room. Have video proof. Jeff at front desk was nice and moved us to a Presidential suite. Problem was in their construction zone for remodeling. We play till late hours. Construction started at 7:30am. Not supposed to start till 8 which wouldn't have been much better. We stayed here when we went to watch the Big-10 championship game in Indy last year. It is a large and comfortable hotel. And when I mean large, I mean it's a walk to your room from the front desk :), depending on where your room is. They have a nice bar near the lobby area and the room itself was very comfortable, nice, and clean. A working HVAC system, The hotel staff were friendly and efficient. First and foremost, the staff was great and was very helpful. The issue is the building itself. Age has taken its toll and this building needs repairs and updates. Pieces of hardware on the furniture were barely holding on in some spots and parts of the ceiling are chipping away in the pool room. The toilet burst from the side as you can see in the picture as my wife flushed it later into the even. The issue was handled quickly and we were relocated to another room on the same hall. The bathroom vent was also next to the showerhead and we got a perfect view of the dust build up and probably mold. I've had multiple occasions to visit Indianapolis Marriott East, though nearly all of the occasions have been related to conferences rather than actual stays in the hotel given that I live about 10 minutes from the hotel. My most recent visit about 3 weeks ago really revealed how much Marriott has upgraded this hotel space despite the inherent challenges of a large hotel with an awkward floor design and a neighborhood that presents definite challenges in terms of being an inviting area. However, despite the upgrades there's little denying there continues to be work to be done. Accessible parking, for example, is woefully lacking. I nearly always struggle to find a decent space here and my most recent visit was no exception - I finally found a spot along the side, a more isolated spot and one that required I wheel all the way around to the front of the hotel and along a modest incline. It's simply not adequate. As a chain, Marriott tends to be one of the more disability friendly. While certain chains may say "accessible" and you'll arrive and find it woefully lacking, this is seldom the case with Marriott. However, I will note that I've not stayed in a room at this hotel and cannot speak to their accessible rooms. The front door is automatic and you won't go anywhere without passing the front desk. The employees are open and friendly and hospitable. They have 25 event rooms with just under 90,000 square feet of event space. Breakout rooms are nicely designed, though the carpet can be just a wee bit challenging for some wheelchairs (I heard this from other wheelchair users, as well). Marriott offers attendee booking tools, modern AV equipment, and high-speed wireless. I found the high-speed wireless to work impeccably. I do find it funny that they advertise being "minutes" from Lucas Oil Stadium - don't be overly deceived. "Minutes" actually equals about 30 minutes or so on a good day. So, don't think that you're getting a hotel close to the stadium - you're not. The food was solid, the staff was never less than friendly, and I found someone nearly always available when there was an issue. I found Marriott also very open to the diversity focus of the conference I was attending including more fluid restroom arrangements that allowed for gender identity. There's little denying that this Marriott, despite major upgrades, continues to be on the lower end of the Marriott spectrum. This hotel is VASTLY improved from its old days, but lacks the pristine comforts of your usual Marriott experience. There's solid decor to be found, but if you look a little further you'll see more than a little wear and tear within the bones of the facility. However, that said, it's an affordable and convenient conference space and the numerous non-profits I know who've hosted events here have all found the space to work well with good customer service and affordable rates. They seem to have carved out a niche here as just that - a safe, affordable conference and event option in a city where that's not always easy to find. I'll easily return here without hesitation. read more

Let me start by saying the staff is the only saving grace of the Indianapolis Marriott East. Every person I dealt with, restaurant, front desk, housekeeping, engineering, such great people. I'll also say that I waited two weeks to see if I'd hear back from hotel management before posting my review. Nothing. Family and I visited for spring break, because it was so busy we paid about $175/night. Here's what that got us: Ants: Our first room had them crawling up the walls. I asked to be moved to another room, staff was great, moved us to the only open room which was a handicap accessible room. Guess what? That one has ants, too. Dirty Room: Cob webs around the doors that looked like a haunted house. And it looked like someone barfed on the wall. Dirty Pool: The swimming pool was so dirty you couldn't see the bottom. The hot tub was broken, not that I would have gone in because it was equally dirty. Outlets: Our first room had one working electrical outlet. And this hotel doesn't have USB ports like most hotels updated in the last decade. First world problems, I know. TV: First room didn't have a tv that worked. Parking Lot: My 4 and 7 year olds had to walk around needles and syringes in the parking lot. What?! Do not leave anything of value in your car. The parking lot has security guards (should have been the first warning sign) but there's sketchy stuff in the parking lot at night. The next time we stay in Indy I'll pay the extra and stay downtown. The Marriott East is on the outskirts of town and while easy to get to, not worth whatever you're spending. I've stayed at dozens of Marriott hotels and this is so far below any of them. read more

Legitimately the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Our power went out in the winter storm and we had a few options of where to stay and picked here due to proximity and decent reviews. We have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old. Their website made it ridiculously hard to book -- the site was clunky and not letting me type my details into the boxes. I finally called and the person on the phone got me almost booked before saying she was unable because all available rooms were restricted. We were in the parking lot at this point so I just went inside. The rate was higher than on the website. I just accepted it. Parking in the nearly empty lot cost. Cool. We got into our room and my husband got a text the power was back; I stayed with the kids and he went to check on our pets. We decided we had paid and would stay in the hotel because we paid for it and "it could be nice". Famous. Last. Words. I noticed the room was getting cold. My littles' hands were cold too. It was 63° and dropping. I call the front desk, explain the heat isn't working. They said "oh can't have that I'll check on that" and just... wasn't on the phone anymore. I hear a knock a few minutes later and they check the thermostat to make sure I'm not just an idiot. Turns out I do know how to operate a thermostat because in the walkie talkie he says, "yes it's broken". They say they'll come back with new keys. I get them, no offer to help me move all our things to the new room 2 floors up. I get there... new keys don't work. Have to call the front desk. Get new new keys. They make sure the heat works. It does (kind of. Later it was blowing cold air). We finally settle in, get the littles to bed. It's nearly 11. We go to sleep and... wake up to the loudest, most painful fire alarm I've ever heard. Both kids are screaming. We don't know what's going on but it's negative wind chill outside. We pack them in blankets and carry them down 4 flights of stairs to be told it's a false alarm. Finally, I get the littles back to sleep and settled in. And at 7 am the baby wakes up... and the fire alarm goes off AGAIN. He's shrieking, terrified. I call the front desk and... it's another false alarm. I ask for a manager. No manager on duty. Will be in at 9, she says. I tell my husband we are getting out of here. We should've gone home and ate the loss after the heat was out. We go to check out... no manager yet. She says to call. I call... she says still nobody. She says to call later. I call a few hours later and get another person who is not here for my annoyance. He won't give me a straight answer on if somebody will be in touch by Tuesday. I want a refund. And an apology. I'm abysmally sorry to be a Marriott member today. AND... all this happens on CHRISTMAS EVE. Do. NOT. Stay. Here. read more

I was only here for a market research study in the conference center so that is the extent of this review. I had driven by many times and new this was a conference hub on the east side of Indy. I was actually pretty impressed once I walked in. This looks like a full scale operation with a nice restaurant and all the bells and whistles you'd expect at a 4 star hotel. The hotel is modern with nice rooms and comfy beds, BUT don't eat breakfast here. They have a $25 buffet that is poor! Barely warm dry scrambled eggs, pale sausages, greasy limp bacon, and tasteless unripe fruit. They had 2 English Muffins available for toasting but they were dry and hard. No wait staff around to help. The waitress who seated me checked in with me while I was eating and I asked for some fresh eggs and was told "they don't that. Thursday night there was an incident with someone in the hotel with a gun, authorities came and the person was arrested, but those of us who were downstairs out in the open were never made aware of what was going on, we had to hear from other hotel guests what was going on. I feel something that important we should be made aware of it. The "bistro" manager needs some serious training, I myself am a manager of a restaurant and I was absolutely bumbfounded by how everyone was treated. He's rude, picks and chooses who he wants to yell at and make rules for, stares at you so much and closely you get extremely uncomfortable. The night they kicked us out (Saturday night because they closed at 11 and it was 11:25) of the restaurant two servers and the manager surrounded each table one by one to kick everyone out, leaving us feeling extremely ganged up on. I understand wanting to leave work, but if you're going to be in the restaurant industry you need to understand that sometimes you aren't going to get out at the exact time you close. Sunday morning we all woke up, my father slept on the couch, come to find out the pillow he used was covered in god knows what this is, there was red marking all over the furniture, it was absolutely appalling. I didn't rent a hotel room here because an Airbnb was cheaper, even though I'd be sacrificing the convenience of the conference just being downstairs from where I'm sleeping. Jeff checked us in during Indianapolis 500 weekend. Didn't seem very busy considering this was the biggest annual event in this city. Upgraded to suite but the room was very far from the main entrance. Room was nice and the same as all other marriotts. Two TVs and big bathroom, coffee maker and refrigerator, view of parking lot. Windows were very dirty from the outside so a cloudy view at best. Staff was the best quality of this hotel and were cordial and friendly. UPDATE! Changed 4 star review to 1 star! Day 2 may 28th around 7:30pm, we returned to the hotel and I wanted a cup of coffee, it appears you can only get coffee from the bar or make it yourself in your room. I went to the bartender and asked for a medium cup of coffee, she's said you don't want to drink that it's too old! And she wasn't going to make another pot just for one cup! I'm thinking to myself, am I not a customer? Are you refusing me service? Is this a racial thing? If any of these white patrons wanted a cup of coffee, is that how you respond basically saying I'm not going to waste my time or a pot of coffee because I just wanted one cup and not the whole pot? So basically she refused to sell me a cup of coffee, I was forced to go back to my room and make it myself! I was going to let it go but figured, why should I? I didn't get what I needed at a Marriott hotel and I think any guest should get whatever they want. In this case, I couldn't even buy a cup of coffee in this hotel. I was refused service! read more

We had a very nice stay here last night. Check in was easy with Jeff Bobbitt, he was very helpful and even gave us complimentary vouchers to use at the bar. The room was very nice and quiet. If you're a very large person you may have trouble getting in and out of the bathroom, it was pretty narrow. The beds were comfortable and we had a good night's sleep after a long day of traveling. I stayed here in March while on a work trip and enjoyed this hotel. The room was clean, the parking was easy and the bar was a nice spot to relax. The service was satisfactory. The surrounding area is my only gripe. It seems kind of seedy at night, so take a cab/Uber if you need to go anywhere. Other than the bar inside the hotel, the food options around aren't great. It's mostly just fast food. I'll probably continue to stay here when I come to Indy. Hotels downtown are hard to find or ridiculously expensive when there are big events in town (and that's all the time in Indy). This place is right off the highway, so it's easy to find. This review is for the event space that we use for my full-time job's conferences. We've hosted a few conferences at the Indy Marriott East event / conference space areas. Each year, it seems to get better in terms of the food, the service, the assistance with technical issues, etc. We host at least one annual conference every year and this is by far our favorite hotel in the city, as it's affordable, a good size for our 300-350 conference sizes, etc. It's nicely located off of 465 and 70 so it's generally easy to get there. No, it's not the prettiest (especially from the outside) but it gets the job done. The staff are helpful the day of the event. It's affordable, so great for nonprofits to host events/conferences. read more

I may preface this review with I'm leaving 2 stars instead of one because the ladies at the front desk were so kind and helpful. This hotel is just in disrepair. I got an upgraded suite being a Titanium member and it was horrid. Stains on my bath towels, chipped gnawed furniture, no fridge (even motels have a fridge), burnt out light bulbs, noises AC that never cooled the room, and the clock wasn't even set. I just feel like even though this is a really old hotel, I should at least get clean towels, have the clock set, and have a fridge. Also, I hate hotels with adjoining doors. We stayed here for my sorority convention. The rooms are old! The toilet makes a noise like running water all day/night. When someone next door runs water we can hear it. The food service is horrible. It was an older lady bartending. I sat at the bar it least 10 minutes with no acknowledgment. A white gentleman sat and was acknowledged within 5 minutes and received a drink. I do not recommend Indianapolis Marriott East hotel. read more

I stayed during Gen Con, and the place was certainly busy. My check in took all of two minutes. My room was clean and pleasant, and was stocked with adequate towels, tissue paper, and toilet paper for my stay. The walls were not as thin as in some hotels. Whenever I passed through the lobby, I was greeted and asked if they could help me in any way. I was impressed by this. The evening restaurant area service was a bit uneven but the bartender himself knew his stuff and introduced me to a lovely new whisky I need to acquire for home. The only glitch I found was in the exercise room. I found where the gym was that first evening, then went to work out the next morning. I was surprised to see towels from the previous night were still in the floor; there were also no sanitizing wipes. I was happy, though, to find fresh fruit bowls there, and grabbed an apple. I returned there for fresh fruit on following mornings, too. Overall, I enjoyed my stay there, and I would return here for Gen Con or another event that brought me to Indianapolis. read more
