Since that moment, after we watched every single one of their trailers on their website while drowning in tears, we KNEW without a doubt who we wanted to document our wedding! This was before we were even engaged! Once my husband did propose, our first call was to Nathan to check their availability. We based our date on their openings! Somehow, our favorite venue was available on the same day. We immediately booked and planned the wedding in 6 months. We were anxious to start working with Nathan, so we decided to do a "save the date" trailer to send out to our guests. WIthin a week or 2, we were shooting all around the city and having an amazing time with Nathan and his crew. The video was done in just a few days and it turned out better than our already high expectations! We put it on our website and sent it out via email. Our friends and family were sending it to others and everyone was talking about how amazing it was! It certainly gave our guests the feeling of something to look forward to! Our wedding day quickly arrived, and the anticipation for our "same day edit" was intensifying! Our guests did not know that a same day edit was taking place. After the first dance and speeches, my husband and I introduced the video. It was absolutely incredible. The entire room was in tears, and it was so amazing to see the day that had so quickly passed us by, captured in such a beautiful way. The crew was working diligently the entire day and even though it was done so quickly, it looked like something that took weeks to create! From the music, to the hollywood angles, flawless execution, and emotion in every scene, we couldn't have been more pleased with the results. We cannot wait to see the full video that Nathan and his crew at Delack have created for us. He has kept us updated and we hear it is just about finished. I came across one of his trailers on Facebook before my now-husband and I even got engaged! His work was so beautiful that it reduced me to tears (and I didn't even personally know the bride and groom!); I knew right away that Nathan (the owner and lead videographer) was a special talent and that I wanted to work with him. From our first contact, Nathan was extremely pleasant, professional, and responsive! I'm a little on the OCD side, so I loved how thorough he was and his amazing attention to detail. What's even better? On our wedding day, he and his team were so unobtrusive that we didn't even notice they were there! His rates are fairly expensive, but it's definitely some of the best money we spent. We cant wait to see our full film!

Wow videography has come a long way! I recently met with Jeff about my daughter's bat-mitzvah for…read moreNovember 2023. Yep, crazy we have to plan so far ahead! I visited their office in Northbrook and was shown to their super cool movie theater room. There Jeff explained the many options for videography and had so many video examples to show. One of the options was a cinema style video, which is basically creating a movie out of someone's bar-mitzvah. The videos were so amazing that I found myself glued to the stories of random 13 year old's special days and when Jeff turned one off after a few min I was bummed I wouldn't find out what happened to Drew! Drew's bar-mitzvah kept me as engaged as some of my favorite TV shows! They also take photo montages to the next level. Jeff showed one example of an art themed bat-mitzvah where the young artist basically walked thru one of her paintings into a gallery of all of her art. I was sold and came home brainstorming many ideas for what we can do for my daughter's montage in a few years. Xpress was the only video production company I looked at and I immediately decided they were the one. Between our initial meeting, the Yelp reviews & glowing review from our planner I think they'd be tough to top!

I don't even know how to start this review. Brittania Drew is great. Our first meeting was via…read morephone- we had 3 photographers lined up to have calls with and the energy and enthusiasm that Laura and Stephen showed was unmatched. We immediately felt that right connection and moved forward with the process! Next step: engagement photos. For timing, the initial phone call was in June and we wanted a more fall-ish vibe to our engagement photos, so we waited until the end of September to do them. It ended up being about 95 degrees out. I did a trial with my hair and makeup artist that day, and with all things beauty related, we ended up running late. So Stephen and Laura waited for us, on a 95 degree day, in the middle of a field. We finally pulled up, about 40 minutes late and super apologetic, and they acted like we were 30 seconds late- not even a glimpse of grump or inconvenience. We did some photos, did a quick outfit change, then did some more into the sunset. I should mention that from the time we signed our contract in June to the time we took our engagement photos in September, I had been back and forth over whether or not to add video to our package. I've always read that it ends up being a big regret- and I just wasn't sure!! So Laura and Stephen offered to chat with us after the shoot to see if we could make it work. Because we had been running late, they had to get home to take care of their son, but invited us to their house to discuss- what a nice gesture (especially when we were the jerks for being late)! We went over and they were able to slice and dice our photography package so our photography addition didn't kill our budget. We were at their house for a little over an hour and the photo/video conversation was probably 5% of it. They were just great hosts and it was wonderful to get to know them a little better! We left knowing we made the right choice in who we hired... until we got the pictures back. Then we ABSOLUTELY knew we made the right choice. The pictures came back with quick turnaround and every one seemed to be better than the last. We thought we did pretty good for our first time in front of the camera- turns out it's the people behind the camera that work all the magic. We have a few back and forth a between the engagement shoot and the weeks leading up to the wedding- mostly just any changes or updates to timing. The week before the wedding we had our final call with them where we nailed down the final timeline and the things most important to us to photograph. They had a worksheet we had filled out to assist with this that was super helpful. It also included the family photos we wanted to have taken. They were, as always, calm and friendly during the final call- and we were so excited for the big day! So the day comes and Laura and Stephen are there on time, with bells on, and we are, of course, late (however long you think is enough for hair and makeup, add an hour!). As soon as we got there, I felt rushed because of the lateness but Laura and Stephen kept me calm and insisted we still had plenty of time to remain true to our timeline. Phew. They took my dress and rings and went off to make magic with them. Once she returned, Laura stuck around to get the pictures of the girls helping me dress, final make up touches, and shaking out the nerves. Stephen went off to photograph/video the groomsmen. I won't bore you with the details of the whole day but Laura and Stephen were there shooting for a whole 6 hours of it! They left as the party started (we decided we didn't need photos of everyone getting drunk- that's what the photo booth was for), and my husband and I danced into the night. As the wedding date passed and we enjoyed our honeymoon, smaller details of the day started to escape us. We were so excited to get our pictures back to remember every detail. It took about a month and every single photo is so worth the wait. The photography part seems to go by so fast, but they manage to capture every photo you could want! We made an event out of going through all the photos- it was like reliving the day! We remembered the emotions we felt in those photos- and we laughed and cried all over again. Can you ask for anything more from your photographer? We haven't received the video yet, but my expectations have been set! I cannot wait to see it, and I imagine it will be as wonderful as everything else they do. I'll be sure to update if not. :) Laura and Stephen were a dream to work with and I'm so glad we found them!!! Stop looking, you found them too!

She immediately put us at ease (the photos show us so relaxed and comfortable) and the pictures look effortless, beautiful and memorable. I can't stress enough how wonderful the whole day and subsequent photos are for us as a family. It is so hard to find family photographers that don't subscribe to posed and stiff photos. Laura provided us with a variety of locations within a forest preserve (seated, standing, walking, wide shots, close-ups) and we didn't ever feel like it was "work" or even know what "type" of picture she was taking at the time. I am so excited to frame our photos and can't wait to work with her again in the future. I am in awe of how amazing everything turned out!

We wanted images that would take us back to our special day. We were unsure with where we wanted to get married, but our planning team had suggested Candace for photography. From the moment I saw her work, we had to hire her! Her photos were crisp, timeless, not overly-edited, and soft. Candace took our engagement photos and also photographed 2 of our 3 wedding events. We shot our engagement photos in 2 locations: Chicago Union Station and on a boat on Lake Michigan. On the boat, it was windy and freezing! But Candace captured absolute gems! From the detail shots to capturing our friends and family, every image told a story. I would recommend Candace to any bride wanting a timeless wedding photography look. My only regret? Not hiring her for ALL of our wedding events!

Hearing horror stories of couples losing out on thousands of dollars from wedding vendors who would not refund their money, wouldn't accommodate a change of date, or would vanish all together made us so thankful for having Something Blue by our side and allowing us to have peace of mind while going through all the changes. As far as the wedding day(s), we had 2. First we had a small back yard wedding with immediate family only during covid. Liz and Conrad were amazing. We did what we could with decorations but in the end, it was just a back yard, but Liz and Conrad made it look like a twenty thousand dollar venue with their pictures. The 2nd wedding was at our originally planned for venue and we once again had both Liz and Conrad. They captured the day perfectly. They were constantly coming up with great photo ideas that all turned out amazing. Probably my favorite part about hiring the Something Blue crew was we didn't have to ask them to do anything. They were always there for the best shots, came up with their own ideas, and best of all they blended in. A lot of photographers I see at weddings will stand right in the middle of everything to get a good shot disrupting the view of the guests and the flow of the wedding. Liz and Conrad were perfect in getting the best shots while also remaining incognito. Lastly, they are just great people. We've met at their studio a hand full of times now and every time we find ourselves getting lost in conversation with them. They will always listen to what you have to say and take all of your wants and needs into consideration when planning your day. Again, cannot recommend these guys enough.

We had a small,…read moreintimate ceremony with our closest family and friends in the Spring Valley Nature Park in Schaumburg, IL. Conrad was our photographer and he knocked it out of the park! For months before the wedding, their whole team was professional and quick with responding to any questions I had. They were transparent and well-organized. We had two phone meetings to meet with Conrad before the big day. Even before the wedding, Conrad was so sweet and eager to shoot our Medieval wedding. His own excitement made me look forward to the wedding even more, since he genuinely wanted to be apart of it. He is so talented! And he went above and beyond on the day of by not only getting photos at the ceremony cabin, but ALSO traveled with us to Medieval Times (even waiting in line with us while we checked-in) so we could get interior photos. He captured the magic of our day! I've only seen a few sneak peeks of images (it's only been 4 days since the wedding!) and they are incredible, right out of a movie. I can't wait to see them all! Conrad made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Bo, my camera shy husband, looks incredible and Conrad was able to bring out the twinkle that I see in his eyes. Looking back, there are some photos I wish I had remembered to get. Advice to couples: send a shot list. I had a couple but didn't think I'd need them as I knew the photos I wanted. David was great and handled our rowdy groomsmen with ease. We were able to get group shots before he sent the wedding party back to the bus allowing my husband and I alone time for personal shots which I loved. In addition, we had a little bit of a different type of music selections for our wedding and he was more then accommodating. My husband is into metal music and I am into country music so we wanted to make sure we could express ourselves in the music played at the wedding. David Fuller hit it out of the park! We had metal music played during dinner with country intermixed with top 40s for dancing, it worked out so well. Everyone is still talking about how awesome the music was at the wedding and we were married a month ago!
