I've been here several times. It's bar food-nothing crazy. The pepperoni pizza we had was alright. It's very thin crust. The drinks come strong, which is good. They usually have pretty good soup specials. I loved the French dip sandwich I got here. Lots of meat and the au jus was piping hot and nice and flavorful. It's a fun place to watch any game at. It gets packed and they run plenty of drink specials. During COVID they were running a lot of great food specials for pick up and we ordered a few times for burgers. I've ordered from them through DoorDash twice now. I really enjoyed their philly cheesesteak so much the first time, I hankered a craving for another and ended up getting the same thing. It is nothing spectacular, a simple one that was tasty. The meat was cooked nicely with no gristle. Very melty cheese. The bread and cheese teetered on the low quality side, but for some reason it just worked great. To me, based on food alone, this place is a tad underrated at 3 stars. Do not go here!! The bartenders/waitresses are extremely inattentive and unfriendly. We sat down and no one said anything to us even though the bar was pretty empty. There were 3 bartenders behind the bar and one of them was leaning up against the counter on her phone with a stir straw hanging out of her mouth. I had to go up to them and ask if we could order. Stopped in yesterday for a quick burger. The bartender to be honest earned a 5/5 but everything else here was mediocre. The menu is currently limited so no healthy options to be seen. I dealt with that and ordered the abbey burger and sweet potato fries. It took a long time for the food to come out and sadly we were in a hurry due to a softball tournament we were attending. Once the food came the burger was really good I liked it slightly pink. The fries had no seasoning at all and were cold. They only carry Pepsi products so the bartender was kind enough to add some cherry to my diet Pepsi. That lady deserves a raise running the whole place alone on a busy Sunday afternoon. I really want to like this place, but the food is so bad that I just can't. Service is great, drinks are reasonably priced, but their already limited menu is even smaller due to staffing. Our party had pizzas. They seemed undercooked. The menu could use some healthier options. Nothing on it looked good which is why I got pizza. Suggestions we have for the menu would be a few seafood dishes. Maybe stuffed shrimp or scallops for fish fry? More salads would be great, they are pretty fast to turn out. Good place to get some bar eats and drinks. The decor is your typical Wisconsin bar, beer signs, etc.. they also have the normal bar games, pool, pull tabs and the like. Plenty of seating throughout the place . Got the French dip and was impressed with the nice French roll it was served on. Also got the big cheese basket, in a word amazing, mozzarella sticks, cheese curds, fried cheese ravioli,fries and poppers. A Wisconsin cheese lovers dream! Our server was very friendly as well. When I'm in the right mood, I like going to the Abbey. It is a college bar as it's right by St. Norbert College, so I guess I usually go when students are on break (boy that makes me sound old). At the same time it does attract a lot of different people as you can get lunch and it makes a good happy hour spot after work. They have plenty of craft beers. The tapped beers are more larger craft brews and several Green Bay brews. Be sue to check their daily specials. As you can get some deals on food and beer. Mondays are $1 burgers, Wednesdays are $4 craft beer night, and my favorite personal favorite $1 Hamm's after 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's a great spot to meet up and not worry about it being loud and crazy busy, unless you're there on a Friday or Saturday night (oh geez, still sounding old). read more

I have been coming here for the last 3 years and just realized I never wrote a review. The service here is great. Kerry is a great guy and always helpful. He recognizes you when you come back and when they started the rewards program, he added some poimts for is because we didn't know about it. The reason for the 4 star is because the food is hit and miss. Thinking more so on the kitchen side. Sometimes the food we get there isn't correct but they are quick to fix the issue and that is one of the reasons we come back. I find that they have one of the best Wing deals always and I really enjoy them. The Nachos are huge and lots in it. This is primarily what I always get. I also recommend the chicken sandwich, it is delicious. The atmosphere in the place is nice. Lots of fun pictures on the walls. Pool table, darts and a Shuffleboard. Went here for lunch on a Saturday during the Badger game. It was pretty much empty. The layout is pretty interesting and the restaurant the building is in used to be a grocery store. I ordered the Fishermans Platter which came with fish, shrimp, salad and fries. The salad was a subpar typical side salad. The fish was OK. Nothing special and pretty bland. The shrimp was good and I would order it again. The fries were pretty bad and tasted like they were generic frozen fries that had freezer burn. The staff I interacted with were friendly and the food came out extremely quickly. One thing I didn't like was they have two tip lines on the receipt. One for the service and one for the kitchen. I don't like having to decide how to tip each one. Our server didn't really have to do much and the kitchen got the food out quickly but the food was meh for the most part. I did tip each at least 20% but really dont like that I would have to tip less than normal so the kitchen gets a tip as well. Overall this is a nice little place to grab lunch. They could use a menu redo and maybe rethink the server/kitchen tip. I will be back again and try something else and most likely wont get the fries unless they change them up. read more

I don't know if it's because the weather is cold in Green Bay or just the people over all are not happy but I have come here twice the last couple of days because it is very conveniently located near the hotel and they have lots of TV's and sports playing. I succeeded in finding the worst nachos I have ever had. 1000 chips 6 pieces of lettuce, olives and jalepenos. I asked for shredded cheese (rather then processed) and all 10 shreds that were on it were cold . I asked the waitress don't you usually bake the cheese, she just said I don't know. Clearly Unhappy I told her she could take the nachos away....she still didn't get the hint and charged me for them. The second night the staff just walks past my table several time finally I had to ask if I could order. If you ask for another beer do not ask for a new glass...it's a touchy subject with them. After a day at the game and fighting the traffic from the stadium...my son and I, from California, had a hard time finding something open at 6pm on a Sunday. Thank goodness for The Abbey!! We were cold and wet and looking for a fairly low key place to get some food, a drink and watch the Sunday night game. What a gem!! We were allowed to just linger at the bar. It was a spacious building and there were quite a few people but it wasn't noisy or rowdy. It felt like a local pub. We ate and drank simple, got the tomato soup and the chili excellent and tasted home made, not out of a can. We both had a shot of top shelf bourbons and the total bill was well under $20. Having lived on the St. Norbert campus for four years, The Abbey was a staple watering hole in DePere for students and locals alike. But, I recall I was never overly impressed with their service or their food. On a recent visit back to the area, I was reminded of this. My friend and I popped into the Abbey for a quick bite during lunch. The place is a bar on one side and has a dining room on the other side. We walked up to the host stand at the dining area that indicated we had to "wait to be seated". It took us a while to realize that neither the man behind the bar next to us nor the sole waitress into the dining room where noticing us waiting there. We asked the bartender for a seat and he indicated we could grab a seat ourselves and the waitress would be right with us. So, we sat down in a booth and proceeded to wait for the server. There were only two other occupied tables in the small dining area, one of which appeared to be just finishing their meal and a larger group that had not yet received their food. The waitress approached our table with menus and asked us what we wanted to drink -- just water for us both. She left us and indicated she would be back to take our order. The bartender delivered our drinks shortly after, but the waitress forgot about coming back to get our food order. She not only sat another table (albeit it was a large group), but also took their order, AND delivered their food to them. She even had time to box up the food of the table that was finishing up when we arrived and bring the bill to the other large table. I understand she was the lone wolf on the floor, but she could have asked the bartender to help her out as the bar wasn't crazy busy. We were so hungry, we finally had to grab the bartender and tell him what we wanted to order. The food didn't take a long time after we finally got the order in, however it was nothing to call home about. Had I known this from the start when we were forgotten, I would have left with my friend and gone somewhere else. The chili was just meat in a tomato-y sauce (no beans or chunks of onion), and my friend's burger was over cooked and looked rather sad on the slices of untoasted thick white-bread it was place between. If you want a place for cheap beer, the Abbey is probably fine, but don't waste your time or money on a meal here. read more

Sure I'm a little bias because I am an SNC alum, but at least I have a place that I will always feel welcomed. The bar is extensive and surrounded with televisions. Perfect place to catch a game. Lots of beers on tap and plenty of bar food to satisfy your hunger. Also have a lot of bar games to play-especially the shuffleboard! The service can get busy but Kerry always takes care of you. I was attending a conference at SNC and the Abbey was a convenient place to catch a cider and a few innings of the Brewers game between sessions. This was after graduation, so I have no idea how the place looks when school is in session. The waitress was friendly to me, but spent time ditching different groups and trying to pawn folks off on her coworkers. Groups came in wanting to watch the NHL playoffs and the acrobatics needed to change channels were so ridiculous that she just told people to sit elsewhere where the game was already on certain tvs - this wasn't her fault, but if you're a bar with 20 TVs and there are only two sporting events on that night and the college you serve is chock full of national champion hockey players, you probably should be able to turn the hockey game on. My $1 burger was above average, there were lots of options for a potato-based side dish and there was cider on tap, so I was satisfied, but mostly the Abbey was close and convenient. read more

We loved Abbey the first night we went. Tonight, there was a good dose of snowfall, but nothing totally treacherous. We arrived 6 hours before official close, and they had locked the doors on us with no response. Open sign was on, lights on, employees inside... but locked doors, despite knocking. This is a poor way to run a business. If you want to keep customers, it's not a big deal to keep the doors open until close. The moment you close the doors without explanation, you lose trust with customers who might have been otherwise regulars. Not cool, Abbey. read more

There are a lot of "favorite places" in the Green Bay area, and I can't get to them all as often as I would like; however, this is one of the acceptation's, especially during football season. Usually visit during the afternoons, or on Monday night (with our MNF gang). Love the great choice of craft brews (at reasonable prices), especially the $3 pint Beer of the Week! Every night has a different special, but Monday they offer special beer prices after 8pm, and $1 burgers all day long. Service can be spotty on occasion, even sitting at the bar (either they're busy or shorthanded, which is understandable, OR visiting with customers). But never when Kerry is there! And he's (almost) always there Monday night. Love the local, college, & sports décor and the "feel" of the place. read more

I love this place. It is a staple in West DePere. I have been there twice in the last month, after many years away, to enjoy their wide selection of tap beer. but it all has a terrible aftertaste. Very good tasting, cooked well and the prices were very reasonable, not to mention the owner is very nice and outgoing. I love this place, and I've been coming for multiple years now. I would like to take a moment to correct the 1-star rating from below... All of that is entirely BS. I was sitting close to the woman who wrote that, and watched everything that happened from the moment she got there to the moment she left, and then came back for a second time! Her husband was offered a drink immediately upon sitting down, but refused for he said he had to wait for his wife who had gone to the bathroom. The woman then returned, demanding food, in such a hurry! The bartenders took her order, and she got her pretzel in no time. There was no one on their phone behind the bar. All persons were busy making drinks or helping other customers within the bar. And I saw a cook once maybe, come out of the kitchen... with glasses once or twice but there's no room for food in your hands to munch on if you're bringing out glasses! I find it ridiculous how someone takes the time to fabricate such things. And trust me, I am the first to complain about something when it needs to be complained about. The bartenders were friendly, respectful, and kind... as are the servers. It is so hard to work in a business like this nowadayss. People are always looking to complain or looking for a free handout. The Abbey atmosphere is welcoming, so inviting, and their pretzel is very good (I might demand I have that pretzel right away too lol, it's so good). Their pizzas are all so very tasty too read more

I went in there with high expectations and I would say that I was a little disappointed. We were one of the only customers in there and it took them forever to come to our table.(the bartenders and waitresses were talking among themselves constantly and ignoring us) I got the famous "Harry and Al burger" and it was nothing special. Worst French Fries Ever! My sister and I went to this bar/restaurant yesterday for lunch and we ordered the Wisconsin Cheese Platter, but received the cheese curds. They were served in a basket with fries in the bottom and the cheese curds on top. They. Both were so greasy, that they glistened and were very saturated in oil. Despite this, we did eat some of the cheese curds (I know we should have sent them back, but we were hungry). Cheese curds did taste ok, but the fries we could not bring ourselves to try because they were so soaked in grease. I also ordered a gyro and my sister had the Philly cheese steak, both with side salads. Both of the sandwiches lacked any seasoning. The highlight of this meal was the salad, sad to say. Will we come back, I don't think so. Stay away from this establishment if you have a heart condition or do not have your gall bladder. You will pay dearly. The special burger was dripping grease and was supposed to be a bleu a cheese burger but had no bleu cheese and our kids hot dog had a bun that was hard as a rock and stale.
