Really like it the first time, like it again the second time, and then again the third time. Now I…read moresometimes make the trip to just come here, for some good old authentic Vietnamese food. This is a little gem in Leyton. What makes this Vietnamese restaurant stand outs, is that it has a slightly different added menu, it still makes the traditional food, but stuffed chicken wings? Saying that, the traditional dishes were just as splendid, full of mouth watering flavours, combining with the freshness and texture when taking that first bite. And there was no skimping on the portion sizes. I left that restaurant quite full. The venue itself was spacious and open. really cool modern and simple decorating, but it works. Even when the restaurant was full, still did not feel crowded, quite the opposite, relax with a buzz vibe. That was also due to the part of the waiters, who were very friendly, attentive, and on point. They have some really good lunch offers at the moment, so that really helps, but generally the cost is quite decent and value for money, comparing to other Vietnamese restaurants. Other than parking and its awkward location, one way narrow road, I would say this is a good place to eat.

I was in Brighton for a conference in mid-September 2023 and decided to try this Vietnamese…read morerestaurant for an early dinner (5:45pm) on a Wednesday. First, the food quality is good and reasonably priced (13 pounds). I ordered the big bowl pho soup includes noodles, meatballs, and beef with a side helping of bean sprouts to add. It was satisfying and hearty. The only blemish was that the broth had a bit more fat than I would have liked. Location is convenient for visitors to Brighton. It's on Preston Street near the Waitrose supermarket. From the Brighton I-360 tourist attraction, it's about 1-2 blocks north away from the water. From Churchill Square (near the clock tower), it's about a 5-7 minute walk to the west (along the street that is reserved for buses and taxis only). The restaurant is a bit tiny - I would recommend it for solo diner or couples. It's not convenient for a large group. Preston Street has a nice boba tea shop across the way and other restaurants that are worth a look-see. Overall, I would recommend "the Big Bowl" for visitors to Brighton who are looking for authentic Vietnamese pho.

I ordered the Bún cha combo which has vermicelli noodles, grilled pork, chicken and a spring roll. It comes with a dipping sauce that's a mixture of lemon juice, ginger, chilli, garlic and vinegar. It was tasty and cost just under £9. Service was very friendly and nice. I will definitely come back and try other items on the menu!

I saw that Pho Saigon was nearby when I searched Yelp, and I'm so glad I decided (after walking…read morearound the block and back) to go in. I was offered a small bowl of homemade kimchi to go with my Tiger beer, which I was delighted by! I've wanted to try Kimchi for AGES! And it was so tasty :-) I ordered a king prawn pho. Flat noodles; halved prawns; fresh coriander, basil and mint; sliced red chilli and bean sprouts on the side which I added. I also asked if they could give it a bit of a kick to try and sink my blossoming cold and they kindly obliged. Not too hot, but enough to give it some warmth. Omnomnom! Gorgeous :-) I spoke to the owner afterwards and he said they were quite new. I would definitely be back if I'm in the area.

I had one of the soups with rice vermicelli, beef and vegetables. It was good but no matter what spiciness I added, the broth still seemed too bland for my preference. Same for my wife's rice vermicelli with mixed vegetables. The little bowl of pickled vegetables that was brought to the table were delicious. Just the right amount of spice and pickling. The restaurant is very clean, nicely decorated and it's front tables open to the sidewalk, with a couple of tables outside. Also the price was very reasonable. I'd like to give these nice people 4 stars for all the above, but the main entree failed to satisfy.

Back at Pop Brixton as part of the Yelp event and found myself wanting something to warm me up in…read morethe cold and Viet Box seems like the most appetising one there. It's not hard to miss Viet Box but in case you do its in the middle row where Made of Dough is on the end. It's the perfect place if you're looking something fresh and hot and healthy. The decor is quite of quirky and colourful with its multicolour handmade pom pomade dangling from above, lanterns and rainbow coloured handmade signage. They're menu is short and sweet varying from the classic Vietnamese to the more creative modern and fusion, although I wish it could be a bit organised as items on the menu were just listed all over the place and the font face hard to read. Although they sell Banh mi, pho, salads, rice dishes, ceviche, chicken satay and coffee we could only really comment on the Vietnamese Rice Noodles with Beef - Pho Style as its all we had. Vietnamese Rice Noodles with Beef - Pho Style Genuinely surprised at how good our beef pho broth was though. It was full of flavour, complexity and depth like it had been made from many hours of stewing the beef on its bones. Seasoning was perfect too. Noodles were a bit overcooked though and became mushy in my soup but this was saved and contrasted nicely with the crunchy raw beansprouts and deep fried toppings of shallots. The beef came as chunks and were incredibly tender and flavoursome. We also paid the extra £1 for two large Vietnamese beef meatball that were nice and bouncy with a really satisfying chew. Not much to offer in flavour though and tasted store bought but I enjoyed it nevertheless. A good squeeze of lime that it came with and it added a lovely zesty note to make it even more appetising. The owner didn't really communicate much but was friendly enough. Be prepare to wait around 5-10 mins for your food as its not instant ramen here. But what you get in return is pretty worth its wait. If I'm back at Pop Brixton, Viet Box is definitely a place I'll like to revisit and try out more dishes as its not easy to find decent Pho with good broth in London, especially at £7 only.
