I will only endorse those I hold in great esteem. The longer story of how I came to find such admiration and respect for this family practice can be read in detail below. My father had a brush with death so close that the ICU attending told him "sir, if 0 is the least serious case we see in this unit which handles the most severe cases, and 10 is the worst, you are an 11." That's an exact quote. Here are the details of his pre hospital visit thru discharge. Dr Rivers office and staff played a crucial role in his being alive. For that they have earned my eternal gratitude The infection likely entered his bloodstream around the time of his office visit yet hadn't proliferated systemically sufficient for detection by medical professionals via his symptoms and vitals. Sepsis is pernicious, elusive, cunning and dreadfully fatal. It must be said that Geneva URGED him to go to the ER out of an abundance of caution yet he outright refused (especially considering the national IV bag shortage). His symptoms initially emerged Saturday 11/09/24 in the evening, he had an at home IV administered Sunday, went for the first available appointment Monday 11/11/24 and Tuesday at 5:30 AM I called the ambulance as I happened to see him go into septic shock (I stayed in his room out of caution concerned by worsening symptoms following the first antibiotic dose). Dean, from Dr. Rivers office, stayed available through the weekend (when the clinic was CLOSED and he was OFF THE CLOCK) while my father was in the ICU with septic shock to hassle the lab to forward the sensitivities of the culture that was taken while he was at their office the day before his hospitalization. NOTE: The PA gave him the PRECISE antibiotic MOST sensitive to the strain of bacteria he was infected with based on the urinalysis culture. It's likely the sepsis would have killed him that evening without that first dose of Cipro. The PA (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) that saw him gave him the exact dosage recommended by his attending hospital physician on his discharge. Basically, complete the course Geneva set. I'm seldom impressed by physicians. There are so many cases of both experienced and inexperienced doctors who are stubborn in their ways and who do not keep current with the latest publications on novel approaches to familiar or unfamiliar maladies. Dr Robert Rivers mind is sharp and his faculties keen. I imagine he's seen so much over his lifetime as a board certified general practitioner and surgeon. Dr. Robert Rivers wears a humble guise for a man possessing such adept powers of observation. He is comprehensive in his examination which is a largely abandoned practice in our modern era. Another of his gifts is the breadth of his knowledge combined with an open and agile mind. He listened intently while I blabbered on about my father's unique history. He listened to a suggestion I offered based on a case study that pertained to a new condition my father has following his hospital discharge. Dr Rivers was familiar with the underlying condition and knew of a similar case that went untreated and resulted in a fatality. He gently probed my father for more information then patiently went over his medical history landing on each area of crucial concern with an effortlessness that can arise only from experience. He then ordered the necessary diagnostic testing that would ensure insurance covered the therapeutic approach we discussed exploring. After blood work was collected he administered a first dose to commence this course of action. His staff is simply amazing, Lindsey at the front desk, Dean, the PA (who helped save his life)...I thank you all!

I have an ear infection and went on antibiotics last Friday (that were prescribed not by my primary care doc in Evanston, but by a doc in the Glenview NM office who was able to do a telemedicine visit with me since she was the only doc available on short notice). Fast forward 6 days -- I still have lingering ear issues, and I really want to see someone in person to make sure there's not another underlying issue, and I wanted to have my ears cleaned out because my PCP told me I needed to have that done the last time I saw her, and I was lazy and never did so. I figured that might be part of why I'm not getting better. Despite that they have all my medical records because they're part of Northwestern Medicine, and that I went to FVFP for the first 26 years of my life, they won't see me because I'm not a current patient at their specific office and since I'm not planning to switch to them permanently. My entire family still goes there. The doctor I was trying to see delivered me 33 years ago. I'm in the suburbs and can't drive 2 hours to go see my PCP in Evanston right now, especially with the protests going on that make it really hard to get out there. They told me to go to immediate care instead, despite me saying I really don't want to go to a walk-in clinic in the midst of a pandemic. So, I'm now my only option is to schedule an appointment with my PCP when I'm back in Evanston. Hopefully whatever infection is still lingering doesn't become a major issue before then. Also, it was impossible to get ahold of the doc's office. If you call their main number it reroutes to NM's central answering service. The two women I spoke to there were perfectly nice and understanding, but it's not possible to call FVFP directly. And the nurse from FVFP who called me back was quite rude as I tried to explain the situation and why I couldn't go to my primary care doctor.

Some of the doctors work also in the Wheaton office, but there is always plenty of people around to help. I had a gallbladder removal in November of 2025. My experience at Northwestern Delnor could not…read morehave been better. My primary doctor was Dr. Tieman. She and her team of residents were wonderful! I have an unusual condition, ME/CFS. In the past, I've been afraid to go to hospitals for fear they would force me to do things that would make my unique health problems worse. Few doctors understand my condition. Dr. Tieman listened carefully, collaborated with me, and advocated for me. I felt safe and seen. My surgeon, Dr. Jaclyn Wierzbicki was also terrific. I was there during a busy weekend and she had back-to-back surgeries. Despite that, she stopped at my room at the end of her long day to reassure me about the surgery scheduled for the next day. My surgery was laproscopic which is usually less painful, but I feel she did an unusually good job. The pain was mild and lasted for only 3 days before I felt much better. I only took Tylenol twice, and I am someone with a low pain threshold. My anesthesiologist, Dr. Pan, was also great. I've had trouble with anesthesia in the past because I am unusually sensitive to medications. He listened carefully. I don't know what he did, but I had no effects except for a slight feeling of nausea the second day. When I looked into the eyes of a Delnor doctor, I saw high intelligence and deep caring. There was little doubt in my mind that I was being cared for by the best the profession has to offer. The nurses were amazing! I've nominated two of them for Daisy awards. Every person I encountered was friendly, skilled, and made me feel like an honored guest. I am a quiet person not usually comfortable in group settings. Northwestern Delnor made me feel as comfortable as I do at home! Each person I talked with - from aides, techs, nurses, residents, and doctors told me that Northwestern Delnor treats them very well. I know that many large conglomerate hospitals these days are so profit driven that employees and even doctors are treated like interchangeable parts. Many hospital employees I personally know are just waiting for the clock to run out until they can retire, find a better hospital, or change careers. They work under so much stress. Northwestern Delnor treats their people well and it shows. At times I almost felt like I was staying at a nice hotel. There are blanket warmers along the corridors. Whenever I felt chilled, a warmed blanket was wrapped around me. These small touches had a way of making me relax. I have no doubt the kindness and safety I felt had a positive impact on the positive results of my surgery. In the past, I have been afraid of going to a hospital. After this experience, that fear is gone. Northwestern Delnor is like a safety net that brings me peace of mind. After years of fearing hospitals, it's hard to even say how much the care I received means to me. I am so grateful!

I had to give a pee sample (that had blood in it) in the public bathroom that you have to walk all the way through the waiting room to return it. It was honestly a horrible experience. It's embarrassing to come to this ER. I had an IV in my arm waiting in the waiting room. Nothing is private in their ER. Pretty sure this is a HIPPA violation. I would have recorded them doing this to me but I didn't get discharged from the ER. I had surgery after being in the ER about 4 hours. I stayed 3 nights in the hospital.
