Thaipan Kitchen is located inside the famous Pyramid on Miramar Rd. They are the sister location to Ping Yang Thai which operates a vendor booth at the Market on 8th Food Hall in National City. The suite was tiny so if you wanted to dine on-site, there were several tables scattered in the atrium on the ground level. The place is currently open on weekdays from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Breakfast service ends at 11:00. The menu was a blend of Filipino, Japanese, and Thai cuisines which differs from its older sibling. The diversity of offerings ranged from tocilog to musubi to karaage to tom yum soup to pad thai. The chef had to be quite skilled to be able to produce such a variety. I showed up near the end of breakfast hours and picked a Spam Musubi and the Spamsilog. The former was decent in size and priced at $3.50. The Spamsilog was a bowl of garlic fried rice topped with three pieces of Spam, two fried eggs, and green onions. A small cup of vinegar sauce was provided on the side. This was a classic Filipino breakfast item that had lots of salt and acid from the Spam and sauce, respectively. The serving size was respectable for $14.50. I always thought the Pyramid was strictly office space and never knew that an eatery was doing business there until now. Most of the neighboring suites were being renovated which made it feel empty on the main floor. From what I tried at Thaipan Kitchen, the experience was around a four star rating.

Went in there. For a quick bite to eat was very surprised how great it was. I liked it so much. I told my coworker she asked me to bring her a to-go as well. And she loved it as well. We will be back again.

The service was really good, the guy came out to give our food, the ambiance is pretty nice, it's quiet and there wasn't a lot of people. The food also came within a reasonable time and was delicious. Nice and hot, very fresh tasting. I got the tamarind chicken with rice and chicken gyoza. I also had some of their tom kha soup, very delicious and flavorful. Only thing is that there's airplanes nearby or something, but delicious food, will definitely be coming here again.

I think the people there were also surprised to have us come by, because they asked how we came across the place. Apparently it's recently gotten taken over by a new owner and remodeled. The interior and exterior is super cute, with kawaii Japanese decorations all throughout. There's also a cute cat theme throughout, with a little paw print stamped into the wasabi and little ceramic cat chopstick holders. The food was reasonably priced and also delicious. My favorite was the Inari set, which were very plump and full of delicious fish and juicy tofu skin. The Ajitama eggs were also yummy, and the sauce it's marinated was good enough to drink up after. When it came to the rolls, there were so many good ones to choose from, I'll have to come back to try more of them. We went with the Sanji's roll and the Buldak roll. Both of them are really well done, but I still think the Inari set was the star of the show for this meal. I also saw they sold other rice dishes/dons, which looked good, and I'll have to try that another time. There was also a selection of sakes and beers to try. Didn't try it this time, but there was a yuzu sorbet that I would want next time. Overall, this place is a hidden gem, the staff is friendly, the interior is cozy, and the food is affordable and good quality. I almost hope this place doesn't become too popular, but I'll be happy for them if it does.

There was ample of parking in the lot surrounded by breweries. We were immediately seated at one table by the speakers. The music was blaring right at us, it was a bit loud and the owner noticed and turned it down a notch. Service is an area of improvement and could use a little more support. Nonetheless I think they are family owned and really tried their best! I thought the rolls were a bit on the pricier end. This is what we ordered: - Daruma Roll (5/5): This was my favorite dish of the night! I like scallops and might be a little biased but this worked out perfectly with the ikura and yuzu aioli. - Citrus Hamachi Roll (4.5/5): This was my fiancés favorite and my runnerup. I wished it was salmon on the inside instead. - Protein Roll (4/5): Solid but nothing spectacular, it's just like any other protein roll but the price was a bit steep. - Inari Set (4/5): Flavorful, great for sharing, and perfect introduction to inari - Shrimp Tempura (3.5/5): Would pass on this next time - Annin Tofu dessert (4/5): I love almond tofu but I'm not sure about the granola and it's a little on the sweeter side. The crunch adds texture but perhaps something else besides granola might suit it better like

The sushi is consistently fresh, the service is excellent, and the whole experience just works. For an all you can eat concept, the format is really well run. You have two hours at the table, which is more than enough time, especially because the food comes out quickly. They are busy, and rightfully so. The typical wait on arrival is around an hour, which sounds like a lot but honestly reflects how good this place is. If you want to skip the wait entirely, show up about 20 to 30 minutes before they open. Get there early, get right in, and start your meal the moment the doors open. If you have kids, the wait is genuinely not a problem. The surrounding outdoor mall complex has a park area where little ones can run around and burn energy while you wait. There are coffee spots, boba spots, shopping options including Marshalls, Burlington, and Five Below. An hour goes by faster than you think when you have somewhere to wander. As for the menu, everything is good. I mean that sincerely, there is not a bad item on it. My personal favorite is the Ex-Boyfriend, which is exactly as memorable as the name suggests. Order it. You will not regret it. Little Sakana is the kind of place you recommend to everyone you know and then feel slightly possessive about when it gets too popular. Five stars without hesitation.

Little Sakana employs like a thousand people which is awesome because there is always someone there to take an empty plate, drop off more food, refill your water/beer, and whatever else you need! These people are working just as hard as you're working so tip them well!

Pricing: * Adults: $25 * Kids (10 & under): $13 * 3 and under: Free There is a 90 minute time limit which we have been reminded on our last few visits. It also includes self-serve drinks like coffee and tea. One of the best parts is that it's not always the same menu--another reason we keep going back (honestly, every Sunday if we could!). Some of my favorite items: * Bangus Fried seasoned Milk fish * Ube pancakes with house-made ube butter THIS is a must-have every time! * Arroz caldo Super comforting, reminds me of my mom's cooking whenever it rained, when I was sick, or slightly got cold in Hawaii. * Lumpia Both Shanghai and vegetable are so good! * Lechon Kawali Fried pork * Sinagang My kids favorite item. Filipino soup known for its distinct sour and savory flavor, typically made with a tamarind-based broth, and different meats. Kare-Kare My husband favorite! This luckily has been here every time we come. * Champorado My lola made this. Champorado is a sweet, thick Filipino chocolate rice porridge made from sticky rice and chocolate. It's topped with milk. It's served hot which I prefer. We've also dined here from their regular menu, which includes Filipino food, Hawaiian local dishes, and sushi. Parking: There share a lot with other business. When we come at night during the weekdays we don't have to worry. Sunday's during brunch other businesses are closed so its not too bad. Overall, my family and I absolutely love the Sunday brunch buffet. If you're looking for a place to celebrate... or just need an excuse to treat yourself, this is the place.

When I take the kids for sushi, because it is so pricey we go to Little Sakana across the street for the AYCE. But of course when we went, it was a 40 minute wait. It was time to eat, no one was going to wait 40 minutes. So we came here instead. We were served instantly. And truly I don't know why I didn't think to come here first. I ordered the sashimi plate which I shared with my kids, fried calamari, mango habanero roll and four Philly rolls for my kids. The soup and salad came out fast and I was instantly impressed with why I knew this place was always 5 stars. The ingredients are just superior and fresh. That salad never tasted so good to me as it did that day. And that's just salad. Now my kids usually don't eat sashimi but they DEVOURED what I gave them. It was salmon, tuna, yellowtail and I think albacore. That's saying a lot. What kid eats raw fish? Mine apparently. But the quality is why they didn't find it gross. I've had sashimi before that I never would have given my kids. This was just great. The mango habanero roll was spicy. It was just like the server said it would be, if you like spicy you can handle it but you will pay for it later. The flavors were great but I did pay for it later. Haha! My kids ate and were full and so did I. I have to remember this place not just for take out but to eat in too. Only problem is there is no bathroom. I think that might be true for Bobalicious and Sayulita's as well, I could be wrong. You would have to go to Target for the nearest bathroom.

This was a thick curry, chicken, and pork broth sauce. Tasted fantastic with a rich velvety texture. The tonkotsu on the other hand was a let down. Overcooked. Thin. Dry. My mom ordered a miso ramen with pork belly. She liked the pork belly a lot. Said she liked the broth. Hates egg so gave it to me lol. I thought it was solid. Fair warning, my spice tolerance is high and I handled the "extra hot," but even then I would probably go with regular hot next time. The creaminess of the tonkotsu broth deserves to shine, and the heat can overpower it a bit. The chicken cutlet is a great touch. They place it right in the broth so one side stays crispy while the other soaks up all that rich flavor. Really nice contrast in texture. Menya Ultra's version was straight up sad. The black sesame Dan Dan noodle didn't stand out either. I did order an extra egg, because it wasn't included. The quality of the egg was interesting, that the egg white was immediately fragmented when I tried to pick it up, and the yolk did not have that half liquid half solid texture either. The food was not great, not worth the price and does not live up to the hype. I don't get why people still come here when there are many great options available in SD.
