Epsom Thai is in a little concentration of restaurants on South Street. As its name says, it's…read moreliterally a Thai restaurant in Epsom. I think it's a good restaurant for families as it's child-friendly but for adults and for flavour, I prefer Mae Ping by the train station. All the usual dishes are on the menu but everything tastes a bit toned down, perhaps to appeal more to kids. So the curries are a bit muted, the zing of fresh lime and creaminess of coconut which defines this cuisine is somehow lacking that crucial edge for me. It's edible but average. Service is always very hospitable but the food only merits an average 3 stars.

The aptly named Epsom Thai, as others have pointed out, is indeed a Thai restaurant in Epsom. It's…read moregenerally been our go-to destination for Thai curry takeaway, and we haven't been disappointed yet. The red prawn curry is my personal favourite, though if you enjoy a bit of heat, the green curry is quite tasty as well. I've only actually sat down to eat in the restaurant once, and unfortunately I wouldn't necessarily rush to go back. The décor is very comfortable and well suited to a Thai restaurant, and the food was still delicious, but the staff seemed disorganized at best. A manager or owner was mostly ignoring his customers, instead just shouting at the waitresses instructing them to shuffle tables around to pack in as many diners as possible. Unfortunately this resulted in half of our table being taken out from under us halfway through our meal, and my wife being virtually trapped in the front corner of the restaurant by another bizarre choice in table placement. Luckily, the food was still delicious, and as it was a busy Friday night, we simply shrugged off the service oddities and enjoyed our meal. To sum up, 5 stars for takeaway, 3 stars for the dine-in experience, 4 stars overall.

They are polite, efficient and very friendly. The food is delicious and always presented very nicely. It's obviously cooked by someone who knows what they're doing and cares about the food they serve to people. If you want to try somewhere new this is by far the nicest thai restaurant around. I paid approximately £70 for 3 people (including a 10% service charge) and that was a starter, main and dessert each with a few bottles of beer and a lots of pineapple juice. It is easily worth much more than that for the atmosphere alone. There is always nice calming music playing softly in the background and the décor is nice. It's not breathtakingly beautiful but it's nice. Take Away: Delivered within the specified timeslot and for Just Eat that seems to be a herculean task so I applaud them for that :) Food was piping hot and just as good as the food I'd eaten in their restaurant. Not much else to say really other than: eat it is good food! Please try this restaurant if you're looking for somewhere nice to go of an evening. I'd love for them to be around for years so give them your business!

A well recommended "smart" Thai restaurant with delicious mid-priced food…read moreThai Secret is undoubtedly one of the best Thai restaurants in the Surbiton/Kingston area. The food is delicious, the portions are generous and the service is friendly (you can even practice your Thai should you wish, but the staff are all fluent in English of course). Starter wise, the soups can be a little mild occasionally but if you ask then they are happy to make the heat more authentic for you. The other starters are mostly the usual that you'd expect to find, but the Tuna Carpaccio deserves a mention, being extremely tasty and a break from the norm. Mains are again what you'd expect to find, but are executed really well. The Pad Kra Pao is always good and, like the other stir fries, is available containing a good choice of meats and veg. A nice touch is that you can have most dishes with pork (which I find is often the best for Thai food) and even with minced pork, which I'm informed is even more like traditional cuisine. The Pad See Ew noodles are also exceptionally tasty, with the noodles and vegetables cooked slightly al dente. I haven't tried the Pad Thai noodles but they look very good indeed. The restaurant is more "smart" than the average Thai restaurant, as they often tend to be either sparse or a wooden clad affair. Thai Secret is tiled in dark colours and mood lighting and has a sophisticated feel to it. There is a good selection of wines too. I'm really glad I tried the place on a whim some time ago. It has certainly become my Thai restaurant of choice in the area. Highly recommended!

We've probably tried 10-15 dishes by now and everything we've eaten has been excellent from the classic green curry to the pad Thai to the pad see eew. My husband is a vegetarian- they do a great job of accommodating- huge menu that doesn't put fish sauce in everything so there's a lot more choice than at most other places. My absolute favourite is the crispy duck. If I could, I would eat that dish every day. It is divine. Perfect mix of crispy salty sweet. Service is excellent. Atmosphere is formal but cozy. Make sure to book in advance though. It's a small restaurant and they're often full even on weekdays.
