A well recommended "smart" Thai restaurant with delicious mid-priced food…read moreThai Secret is undoubtedly one of the best Thai restaurants in the Surbiton/Kingston area. The food is delicious, the portions are generous and the service is friendly (you can even practice your Thai should you wish, but the staff are all fluent in English of course). Starter wise, the soups can be a little mild occasionally but if you ask then they are happy to make the heat more authentic for you. The other starters are mostly the usual that you'd expect to find, but the Tuna Carpaccio deserves a mention, being extremely tasty and a break from the norm. Mains are again what you'd expect to find, but are executed really well. The Pad Kra Pao is always good and, like the other stir fries, is available containing a good choice of meats and veg. A nice touch is that you can have most dishes with pork (which I find is often the best for Thai food) and even with minced pork, which I'm informed is even more like traditional cuisine. The Pad See Ew noodles are also exceptionally tasty, with the noodles and vegetables cooked slightly al dente. I haven't tried the Pad Thai noodles but they look very good indeed. The restaurant is more "smart" than the average Thai restaurant, as they often tend to be either sparse or a wooden clad affair. Thai Secret is tiled in dark colours and mood lighting and has a sophisticated feel to it. There is a good selection of wines too. I'm really glad I tried the place on a whim some time ago. It has certainly become my Thai restaurant of choice in the area. Highly recommended!

We've probably tried 10-15 dishes by now and everything we've eaten has been excellent from the classic green curry to the pad Thai to the pad see eew. My husband is a vegetarian- they do a great job of accommodating- huge menu that doesn't put fish sauce in everything so there's a lot more choice than at most other places. My absolute favourite is the crispy duck. If I could, I would eat that dish every day. It is divine. Perfect mix of crispy salty sweet. Service is excellent. Atmosphere is formal but cozy. Make sure to book in advance though. It's a small restaurant and they're often full even on weekdays.

I'm not sure how busy the restaurant is but the waiter seemed genuinely shocked when I walked in and he still looked surprised when I asked if I could have a table for one. I suspect a lot of their trade may perhaps be takeaway though that's a shame as the decor is quite well done inside. My heart rose when the menu arrived - it looked quite funky with a raised design on the front. My heart sank again when I opened it and the menu looked rather amateurly produced. With today's powerful publishing tools available to the home user, there's no excuse for not knocking up a classy design yourself if you can't afford professional services. Another alarm bell rang when I ordered. I used the names of the dishes which I wanted and the waiter looked through my menu and used the dish numbers instead. Even more connotations of takeaway. Anyway, my food did arrived promptly and all the dishes arrived together as requested rather than as a starter and main course. The weakest dish was the won ton soup. At £2.60, I wasn't expecting giant won tons but the Lilliputian dumplings in the terribly weak anaemic soup look like they had been shrunk by the shrinking ray in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! My main dish of mixed meat on crispy noodles was nice without being outstanding. The batter coating on the lemon duck was too mushy and lacked crispness though the sauce did at least avoid the usual sin of being too gloopy. Overall, the whole experience felt like what I experienced on ordering - an experience by numbers

Good service & can say most times the food has been very good. Sorry to say over the last few weeks China Blue has been closed & doesn't look like it will be opening any time soon. Will be sadly missed.

I can't even put into words how good this place really is !…read more We've driven past it many times, as we live jsut around the corner and have never paid much attention to it ... possibly put off by the bright pink exterior ! However, after eating many times at Regional Thai in Cheam which is by far the best Thai restaurant I've ever eaten in, outside of Thailand - we found out that Max's Thai Cooking is owned by the very same 2 ladies who founded and own Regional Thai in Cheam. So, we booked a table there for Valentine's Day and were blown away as soon as we walked through the door. It's a REAL hidden gem of a place. The interior is lovely, really well done and you totally forget that you're in Wallington whilst in there. The food is ridiculously good and really reasonably priced ... couldn't believe that a meal for 2 with a bottle of cava was so reasonable. For anyone looking for a good Thai restaurant in Croydon or Sutton ... you've jsut found your place ! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Thanks, Andy P.

I've eaten in many a thai restaurant all over the world and never in a million years did I expect to find the best one out of the lot right on my doorstep in humble old Wallington! I've been 3 times since and can't wait to go back again. I highly recommend the "Honey Jumbo Prawns" dish, it literally melts in your mouth and the flavour is just sensational. So pleased to have found this.
