My aunt, uncle, and I came from out of town to visit Laramie, and while we didn't expect authentic Asian food here, we were still very disappointed with both the food and the service at this restaurant. The food itself was below average, but what really stood out was the poor service from a waiter with long hair. He seemed inexperienced and inattentive. After we finished a shared dish, he cleared not just the serving plates but also our personal plates without asking. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like utensils. He also appeared to pick and choose which guests he wanted to serve water to, ignoring others at the table. When we politely asked for water, he seemed annoyed, and even placed items on the table with unnecessary force, as if to show displeasure. At times, his facial expressions made it clear he was not happy serving us, especially when we spoke with an accent. That felt very unwelcoming. Despite the service, my uncle still left a generous tip because he didn't want to give 0 at any restaurant, but we left with a bad impression. I truly hope this staff member gets retrained. If you're working in hospitality, basic respect and professionalism should come with the job -- no one should feel like they're being a burden just for dining in. read more

We were in our way through the area and stopped by this amazing restaurant. The historic downtown area was pretty cool and the restaurant was making great use of an old building. The walls are bright the room is small enough that sound bounces around so it can get noisy quick. However, the service was quick, and friendly. Now for the important part, the food. The food is the best Thai food I've had in more than six years. I love Thai food and I always judge a Thai restaurant by its curry and this place did not disappoint. After 35 minutes of waiting with 2 kids, turns out they lost our ticket and never made our food. It happens, truly it does. However, NOTHING was done to remedy the situation. At the very basic level of customer service, you'd think they would have given us the $7 crab rangoon complementary? NOPE. We couldn't wait any longer; I have 2 kids under 4, we had to go. Thai Spice has reliably tasty food, and I haven't tried something I don't like yet. The bubble tea place (Boba Cafe) is attached so it's nice to order some food and bubble tea at the same time. The service is much less reliable. Not sure if this is just a Laramie thing, but they often don't answer their phone, and the service is pretty chaotic (but always friendly). I'm not a big fan of eating-in at Thai Spice as the tables are pretty close together and it can get packed. Plus, their food lends itself well to carry out! While waiting there was someone that had waited so long for their DoorDash finally came to the restaurant at 7 after ordering when they open (4:30) and the owner told her to go home and it would be there soon (I'd question if it had even been made at that point) Another man came in that had been waiting for about an hour and a half he had said to the owner and he had asked for a refund totally reasonable in a situation like this. At first the owner said no, and then he said he wouldn't take the food with him because half of it had just been sitting for over an hour and the other half hadn't even been made BUT HEAR THIS as he was waiting they finished up his food because the owner was trying to get him not to get a refund and then after he got his refund they offered him his food still and said sorry (AGAIN TOTALLY REASONABLE AND THATS WHAT I WOULD DO AS AN OWNER) But this is where us gets bad ( at least for me and all of my college roommates ) So then considering they just gave that guy his refund and offered him his food that he declined because the owner literally told him half of it had been waiting and the other half wasn't ready yet I thought I should do the same thing considering I had been waiting in front of the restaurant for 2 hours for my food which was taking even longer than the other man that got a refund. So I asked the owner if she could give us a refund since we had waited longer and wasn't yelling at her for a refund I figured she'd be a decent human and refund me Nope she actually just gave me 4 gift cards for 10$ (half of my check not even the whole check) So I am like whatever, she's had a hard night I am just going to get out of the way and I will come back on Monday since they aren't open Sunday. I end up getting home Saturday with my food this was about 3 hours after I ordered and realized I didn't even get 2 orders of dumplings that I ordered So I call and ask to leave a note so that I can come back on Monday and just get a refund for the whole thing Come back and ask to talk to a manager and the owner was there again so I was like perfect you gave us these gift cards would you mind refunding us like you had that other man that was being super rude (hoping that she would be considerate because of the fact I wasn't super rude and didn't make a scene on Saturday like the other man had) I showed her my 4 (10$) gift certificates and said that we would like a refund she replied with no And I told her that I was trying to be considerate and patient unlike the other dude who she ACTUALLY REFUNDED and then she told me that he didn't take his food and that was her entire argument even though she literally offered him his food and he didn't want it because it had been sitting out for over an hour Then I said okay dude I guess we took the food whatever can we atleast get refunded for the gift certificates you gave us in exchange for half of our bill to which she also replied no. This seriously confused me considering she gave the other guy a refund for his whole check and now she is not even offering me a refund in the same situation Then I am like okay this establishment is an absolute is super unprofessional (in my head) AND THEN THE OWNER STORMS OFF INTO THE BACK (Don't know why just don't think she had the mental capacity to handle this situation) To which then the owner must have sent up a manger to refund me for my dumplings and then I literally only got refunded for one of the orders if dumplings that I was missing and at that point I just left, couldn't be wasting anymore time at this place. We visit Laramie at least twice a year and always want Thai food. My daughter stopped in (she lives in Laramie) a short time ago and told us about Thai Spice. Her enthusiasm required us to stop and I'm very pleased we did. It was the day after Christmas so it was nice and quiet. Other than the group that left as we arrived, there was only one other group tonight. We were immediately welcomed and seated by a server who was friendly. We kept it simple (a wise move after feasting on Christmas) and had only chicken satay ($5) and the big serving of soup ($14). The satay was easily cut with the edge of my fork and very tender. The soup was FANTASTIC. We had a full quart of soup that we brought home. I asked about gluten free menu items, as my mother (not with us) has celiac and is highly sensitive to cross contamination. The chef, who is the owner, came and talked with us, recommending specific items. She even knew so much about gluten that she knew even gluten free items that were fried would be cross contaminated by the oil. So if you're going to be calling in for a take out, it can be kind of a drag as them picking up the phone is usually a hit or miss and you'll almost always be put on hold for at least a minute. It is difficult to compare two different Thai restaurants in Laramie. On the one hand, Thai Spice is slightly cheaper than Anong's, but I do favor Anong's as well. The staff is friendly and it's never too long of a wait to grab a table. On one occasion, I got the chicken pad thai and a friend got the sweet and sour beef. Both entrees were enough that we had some to take home. Another time, I decided to call in an order for chicken pad thai and they had it ready to go in the short travel time from near the stadium to the restaurant.
