The restaurant is located on Henley high street and is close by to pubs which is ideal for a pre dinner drink. The restaurant is small and cosy with several rooms and is authentically decorated. The menu is mouth watering and after deliberating for a while I opted for the duck spring rolls and soy sauce. A great start to the evening meal. Next up was Thai Prawn curry with Jasmine rice and I hardly muttered a word to my partner other than mouthing ummmm's and 'tasty'! All of the dishes were presented beautifully with flowers carved out of vegetables. The service was top notch, with the waiters and waitresses being attentive and friendly. The restaurant could probably seat at least 70 people comfortably. They have a fixed price buffet lunch menu, and a sizeable menu in the evening, including set meals and a myriad of other dishes. There were 15 of us with varying tastes, so everybody chose independently, either with individual dishes or to go with the set meals - A,B,C or D or varying price, the cheapest being around £20 a head. They roughly went up a £5 per person as you ascended the alphabet, the latter two being for a minimum of 4 people. I however, shared Set Meal V with a colleague, the vegetarian set menu (£20.50 per person); I am no vegetarian by any means, but its always a good test of a restaurants credentials to see if their vegetarian food matches up to the rest of the menu. Lets just say I was most impressed! After perusing the menu and the waiter taking copious notes of our order, the starters arrived very promptly and thanks to some most impressive note making, everybody not only got the correct dish, they was also given directly to them, very impressive. Our mixed starter was a real triumph, won-tons, battered vegetables, vegetarian fritters was some of the highlights, all accompanied with a rather spicy fresh salad, resplendent with chilli seeds. A great start; other starters included spicy broths, chicken satay and a plentiful basket of won-tons in a potato bird's nest. All dishes on the menu had a guide to spiciness, one, two or three chillis, whilst most dishes had none. Some of our party were brave enough to try the three chillis, quite warm apparently! Our main courses, of which there were four as part of our very impressive set meal, were mixed vegetables in an oyster sauce (a good accompaniment to the other dishes), mushroom, cashews and vegetables in black bean type sauce, tofu in a the most wonderful sweet and sour sauce and spicy Thai green curry packed with crunchy vegetables. All fantastic dishes, but the tofu was a real highlight, the accompany sauce was wonderfully flavoursome. All washed down with a couple of bottles of Singha. What a great restaurant: attentive service, a relaxed atmosphere, good company and some of the best Thai food I've had for a long time.

However when the food arrives the Thai Garden really stands out. Well prepared dishes range across the whole gambit of chinese and South Asian dishes, using fresh ingredients and herbs. The waiting staff are friendly and approachable with a willingness to assist in dish selection and dietary considerations. The bill at the end may be on the top end but it is well worth it if you want a decent Asian meal. I strongly recommend you give this place a try.

Quite uncomfortable. We then had deserts (not included in price). My husband had a Ferrero ice cream, so when he found crunchy bits in it he thought it was nuts but no it was broken glass!!!! The edge of the bowl had been smashed. We immediately pointed this out to the staff who seen bewildered . My husband went to the restrooms to spit out the glass and rinse his mouth. They replaced the desert which he then enjoyed. We followed this with the included coffees which were also good. We were however extremely surprised when the bill came and we had been charged for everything. At a minimum I would have thought they'd have discounted my husband's desert and maybe as a gesture of goodwill maybe even his whole meal. But no. We had to convince them it was the right thing to do. But they said ohh it was an accident, but ok by you, but one of your customers ingested broken glass. We were made to feel like it was our fault that we'd done it on purpose. What for £6 of a £180 bill??? Shame but we won't be returning.

Yes, you read that right - the Thai Boathouse in Stratford *England* is where I was served the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Walking up the stairs is like walking into a different country; lush tropical plants hang from the ceiling and drape over carved wooden panels and Thai statuary. It's amazing that this restaurant is located within a Tudor style boathouse! The views overlooking the avon are stunning and a wonderful way to spend a meal. The Thai Boathouse could try to rely on their location and decor alone for business, but they do not allow their meals to fall by the wayside. Meticulous presentation, beautifully crafted food and friendly service raise any meal here to a full experience. I look forward to my next visit to England so I can eat at the Thai Boathouse again. Bravo!
