We both agreed that it was completely inauthentic rubbish, but after a long hike during the day we were famished, so it's edible enough to keep you from dying of starvation, but far from an enjoyable experience. The beef pieces looked like the type that you find in microwave meals (and even those are better!). Theirs had an odd texture and taste. I expect more from a restaurant charging $17 for a dish that would be cheaper everywhere else in Melbourne, or at the very least I'd expect freshly cooked beef and not some artificial crap. San Remo is not that far from civilisation that real beef would be a scarce commodity. I'm almost certain the pad thai 'flavour' came from a home-brand ready made sauce purchased from the supermarket. And I'd know this coz I've bought one or two to try, and gave up on making it at home using these sauces as they tasted so bad. My friend requested no beanshoots in her dish, but they also left it out on mine wtf?! I almost cried. Finally, pad thai is normally served with a lemon or lime wedge, but it was nowhere to be found, so I had to ask for it. At least they had fresh lemons and not the pre-squeezed lemon bottles. If I was able to turn back the clock, and had been given a choice between starving for another hour until I got home (where a $5 microwave meal was awaiting), or taking up an offer to eat here for free, I'd choose the former.

I have finally found their competition. Excellent food for amazing value. My husband and I went to Fai Thai for dinner two nights in a row during our short trip to Phillip Island. The owners are Thai and the food is authentic. I'd visit every week if they were closer to home!

The decor is lovely and the service was good. There was six of us, and each of us enjoyed what we ordered. Everything went right (other than forgetting one side dish of coconut rice which came out promptly after reminding them), and otherwise it was a good experience. I got curry puffs and chew chee salmon, and both were scrumptious. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here again. You do need to search for it, as it's in a shopping complex and tucked in towards the back, but it's worth giving it a go. And once you're done eating, especially in summer, just take a minute stroll to the lake front where it's just beautiful and serene. Definitely come here if you're in the area ... or if you too have friends that live closer to it than you do, but it's a hike. It's truly worth it.

And in 2015 a new owner has kept the same successful menu, but undertook a complete stylish refurb that opened up the space and populate it with dark-woods furniture and beautiful Thai ornaments. I keep hearing that other Thai restaurants in nearby suburbs are amazing, but nothing I've had comes close to the quality and consistency of this place. I love the Coconut Soup and the Duck Curry.

Food was delicious, great variety on the menu and serving size was very generous. Was able to BYO but also noted they had some good staple wines available for selection. Highly recommend, we'll be returning for sure! Was very quiet for patrons (maybe because it was midweek?) but takeaway seemed to be flowing in and out of the door.

It is seriously good, and reason enough alone to head to this Thai restaurant in Rosanna Village. The décor is calming and stylish and the second level makes this small space appear bigger then it is. The service is charming if not a little erratic and there is a limited beverage selection so BYO. Now to the main event, the food. It is consistently delicious. Have I mentioned the roti? Please don't be dissuade by my obsession with the roti, the rest of the menu is great in itself. Thai curries mingle with spicy salads and noodles. Everything on the menu is good, no great. The dishes taste as they are made from the freshest ingredients and the flavours are simple yet complex, like all good Thai food should be. Baan Thai also delivers in the local area and the quality of the food is maintained here too. Check the website and phone your order through, it is popular so on Friday and Saturday nights make sure you leave at least an hour. Baan Thai is a consistent and welcomed addition to my families birthday dinner rotation. And did I mention the roti?

I first started going here when it opened in 2007, and since then it has gone from strength to strength, even opening up in a bigger, more central location on Springvale Rd. The food is fantastic, and the prices are really good. I particularly love their satay vegetable stir fry with chicken, and their green chicken curry. Possibly the best thing about this place is that they deliver, which is awesome for those nights you just can't be bothered cooking. And lets face it, sometimes going out to pick food up is almost as much work as cooking something.

They used to be in a really small little pokey place that only seated around 10-12 people. I would normally just pick up takeaway. But now they have moved to a new location around the corner facing Springvale road a couple doors down from the Discount Chemist. Much more modern setting, but the parking is a bit of a pain as you compete with The Glen shoppers for spots. But well worth the effort. My favourite dish is the Chicken Pad Thai. It has lovely light flavours and the chilli oil and crunchy onion condiments just top this off perfectly. It's a big portion, only costs $10 and I have it for two meals!!!! The staff is quiet, but very polite. Great for sit in or takeaway!
