Siam Village remains one of my top Thai restaurants in Melbourne. I have been there so many times…read moreand I have never been disappointed. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and size of the serving you receive. The curries are spot on flavour wise. They are not too hot, and have the perfect balance of heat, sweet and sour. The meat is top notch too. My favourite dish is the pad thai. The combination of spices, fish sauce, noodles and vegies is perfect, and I am always left full. There is usually enough left over for lunch the next day too, and it is just as good reheated.

I would never have expected to find such a nice Thai restaurant at Pinewood. But I have been…read morepleasantly surprised by Siam Village. I'm one of those people who really seeks out the best curries. I'm not too fussed about other Thai dishes. Don't get me wrong, I'll wolf down bucketload after bucketload of pad thai, but it's the curries that keep me interested in a restaurant. The curries at Siam Village are excellent. I usually grab the massaman curry with beef. If you know the dish, you'll know that the potatoes in that dish can really seem a bit underdone at many restaurants. Haven't had that experience here. They're exactly as you would hope. The décor is really quite nice. Although the furniture itself is dark, the whole restaurant seems quite light and airy. I really like the place and will be going back very soon.

I've been eating Thai food from Rose of Thailand since they first opened quite a few years ago now…read more It's pretty much hidden away off Blackburn road, opposite the Syndal train station. I've been going there for very good reasons. The food is excellent. It's got acceptable décor. Service is usually pretty fast. Did I mention that the food is excellent? It's pretty well priced too. I usually grab a red beef curry, and that's under $15. A bit of coconut rice and maybe an appetiser, and you've got a nice dinner for two for around $25. Occasionally there are mistakes made when you order, like getting chicken instead of beef, and that sort of thing. But they'll bend over backwards to make things right. That's part of the reason I like them. They're very customer satisfaction focused. Give them a go. You'll really like the food. Especially if you get off the train at Syndal after a hard day at work.

Whenever I come to visit Melbourne from the States, Rose of Thailand is an absolute priority…read moredestination in terms of eating out. The food here is outstanding, and absolutely the best Thai available anywhere that I've been. The service is excellent and due to the price of dining out being pretty insane in Australia, I would say that the cost is just about right where it ought to be. I previously came here during a vegetarian phase and found myself attached to the vegetarian options on the menu, including fried rice, peanut curry, and a spicy noodle dish called Pad Kee Mao. I highly recommend any of those three, as the flavors are really outstanding. Being that I am yet to try any of their meat options, I can't speak to the quality of those, but the vegetables are fresh and the overall flavor of everything on the menu is really good. I would also recommend the Thai beer Singha with just about anything on the menu, as in my limited experience it is the best Thai beer that is widely available, and drinking an Australian beer at a Thai restaurant is just stupid.
