While house sitting for family, we had a taste for Thai. Thai Ocha was a delicious find! We opted for take away, and ordered cashew chicken, sesame chicken and pork egg rolls. The chicken dishes were seasoned to perfection, and the requested spice levels were spot on. I don't usually have much to say about an egg roll, but Ocha's was delicious. Fried perfectly with hints of ginger and lemon grass, the struggle not to eat the whole order was real. The pick-up was easy, and the team friendly. We stumbled onto this hidden gem with a bit of Yelp-help. Easter Sunday lunch, place half-empty, got great over-the-river patio table. Had assortment of appetizers & the flat noodle special w/ pork. Crab Rangoon had a slightly old-fry-grease taint, everything else was super-good. Partly shaded off street parking lot. Nice waitstaff. The purple rice pudding dessert was a real treat. We visited Thursday 3/20. We asked to sit outside because it was nice weather. Our food came and tasted fine, but it was impossible to enjoy because the table next to us was letting their children run unsupervised all over. The reason for my 1 star isn't the kids though, it was our server. He was missing the entire time we were there. When he finally walked near our table, I had to call to him to ask him to bring our check. He did and I gave him my card and when he came back I reached for the card and he threw it on the table and walked away. We did nothing to warrant this rude behavior. This is the Green Curry w/beef from Thai Ocha in Kerville, TX the food was amazing and, this curry had green beans, eggplant, bamboo shoots and greens in it. It had a nice kick of spice to it but not overwhelming, you can taste the lime/cilantro flavor as well a hint of sweetness. It was very rich and creamy, the service was perfect our waiter kept our drinks filled and it didn't take long for us to get our food at all. read more

I came to this establishment with a friend in June as I was treating him to a father's day lunch. We decided to have an early dinner on the water. What we had- Massaaman Curry I am not the biggest curry fan but am a fan of this curry because this type of curry is sort of fusion dish. Massaman curry originated in southern Thailand and has Malaysian and Indian influences. The bird's eye chilies are a signature ingredient of curries from Thailand and turmeric gives it a more yellow color. The use of whole spices (coriander, cumin, and cardamom) makes it more like Indian curries. This curry was mild, slightly sweet, tangy, and delicious! The flavors in this dish brought forth warm spices, had crisp vegetables, and hints of coconut milk and curry paste. My friend enjoyed the sweetness of this curry, which is understandable because as with most Thai curries, coconut milk is the main component of the sauce, which helps create a rich, creamy, and naturally sweet base. Grilled Salmon This grilled salmon was grilled with coconut milk, sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. This salmon was crisp, flaky and sweet. Khao Pad Sap Pa Rod This is one of my all-time favorite dishes. I used to eat this weekly when living in South East Asia. This rice is made with fluffy grains of jasmine rice, colorful veggies, sweet juicy pieces of pineapple all tossed in a savory, slightly sweet Thai fried rice sauce. This rice was nut heavy which was not ideal as it takes away from the sweetness of the rice. Aside from what seemed like a circus bag of peanuts in the rice, it was nicely done. Tom Yum Goong This is my favorite soup ever around the globe. The version made here was tart and tangy, with an incredible shrimp flavor. With each sip, fragrant herbs and aromatic flavor were apparent to include galangal, lemongrass, makrut (AKA kaffir) lime leaves, and Thai bird's eye chilies. After visiting the "cross", I wanted something hot and spicy to warm me up from the cold weather outside. I searched on the Yelp's and found this place not too far from where I was. Decided to give it a shot and boy, was I glad I did! The place is hidden but it's nice decorated inside. With an option to sit inside or outside. Of course I stayed and ate inside :-) The waitress was prompt, sat us down, and gave us the menu. A few minutes later, the waitress asked if we were ready and told her that I wasn't sure but wanted something spicy to warm me up. She gave us two options and that's what we went with. We had the spicy fried rice plate and their special spicy food soup with side white rice and additional spicy seasoning. We were very pleased with the food and service. They offered us military discount and I gave discount amount plus the regular tip to the waitress. Just found out that San Antonio has the same restaurant so I'm planning on visiting to get all my spicy cravings met! read more

This review would be 5 stars easy, but for a kitchen mistake. While in Kerrville, we're trying for every meal on the patio, on the river. We arrived just before dusk, and were seated on the patio. Beautiful view of the river. Glenda got her usual fried rice dish. I ordered Pad Kra Krow seafood, specifically with flat noodles instead of rice. My order came out with a side of rice. I said no. She quickly returned with a plate of barely warm rubbery flat noodles. Since the noodles weren't cooked with the dish, they didn't absorb any of the flavor. I tried mixing them together, but that was a fail. The seafood was delicious, but the noodles a complete failure. This could have been a fantastic dish if prepared correctly. Still, we throughly enjoyed our visit and sitting outside on a beautiful evening. We will return. read more

The service was excellent, and that's an understatement. The food was top notch. Ambiance was good, butceven nicer on the patio overlooking the creek. Suggestions: drink list. I personally recommend the Dragon Cry dish, but all of the dishes I've tried at Thai O'cha are amazing. The waitstaff is extremely kind, and the ambiance is great to. Had a craving for some Asian food and decided to give this pace a try. Started off with dumplings and were really tasty and had a nice sauce. Not so pleased with the cream cheese egg rolls though. hubby and I were looking forward to a feast and wanted to surprise my elderly mother with some yummy food. we got 2 pad thais, 2 pad see ews, and one choir lover with chicken in brown sauce. We eat thai all the time and dropped it off to my mother.We got home and tried our food. It tasted like nothing. no other way to describe the food. It was filler, no sauce, dry and tasted like nothing. We spent over $70 to throw it in the trash. worst food. awful and frankly will never waste money there again. Well, this started out to be a very bad experience. I'm in Kerrville for four nights camping at Kerrville Schreiner Park. After a really long hike on the river trail yesterday, I decided I had earned the privilege of having some food picked up from somewhere. I saw that there was a Thai restaurant in town. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines. I went on Thai Ocha's website, and the first thing I saw was a button that would take me to my online order. I ordered pad woonsen, green papaya salad, and summer rolls. I ordered everything medium spicy because you never know how serious a Thai place is going to be about their spice. I got in my truck, I drove over to the restaurant for my 3:47 PM pick up time, and the restaurant was closed! I didn't realize until later, when I was trying to figure things out that the restaurant was closed in the mid day and would re-open again at 5 PM. Today, while on another amazingly long hike on the river trail, I called the restaurant. They said they would make the food for me today and have it ready at 5:30 PM for me to pick up. I got there, picked up the food, drove back to my campsite, and had a really fantastic Thai dinner. Everything was very good. Next time I'm in town, I want to dine in at the restaurant. While hiking today, I saw a restaurant on the other side of the river. It had a beautiful balcony with people eating lunch. I saw the address and thought it sounded like the same one I had driven to. . It was! I have to eat some great Thai food out on the patio looking over the river. read more

This is the best thai food I have ever had. Top notch. I have been coming here for years. Chicken pad thai is amazing... fried bananas amazing... crab rangoon best I have ever had... all curry is the best I have ever had, and HEARTY!!! A sweet little ol lady works in the kitchen, and shes cranking out some amazing stuff. Hands down the best food in Kerrville... arguably best thai food in hill country... wouldnt be surprised if it was on par with best in SA, even the state.... Place is a gem... river view, right next to the library. MUST go. I've noticed another review about a particular staff member, and although I agree, I would also let the owners spit in my face to enjoy this food... But said staff member is not an owner (least I hope not), and I always get my food togo anyway, so I avoid any brush-ins. read more

Awesome Thai food in Kerville!!! Who knew... Thai Basil Rice is awesome. but tonight it's crispy fired duck! Shrimps in a blanket at a yummy app plus royal dumpling are also delish!!! Plus they are open on Sunday!! Hard to find that around here. The service is prompt as well with a good selection of wine and a smaller selection of beer. Bathrooms are clean as well!!! This is an update. The last time we visited we were totally ignored by the light-loafered dude who was more interested in telling another table about his moisturizing techniques than doing his f*rking job. To be honest I wanted to get up and leave. After 15 minutes of looking around and wondering WTF is going on, my dear wife- bless her patient heart- went to kindly speak to the manager/owner. It was then things started happening... quickly. She came over and profusely apologized for the poor service and personally took our order. Twinkle Toes- the dude who completely ignored our table and walked past us 3X without acknowledging our existence- got taken out of the equation. A very polite new server appeared with our drinks and meal. It became a very awkward situation. I hesitate to say we'll be back. Who knows if the dude didn't spit in our food while it was being made. I just got a bad vibe from this guy and if we ever go back there and I see him I will turn around and leave. Perhaps it's just me but eating out should not into a stressful event. It turned out to be a rushed and uncomfortable lunch and all I wanted to do was get the f*rk out of there. Am I being too critical? You tell me. How would you have handled sitting for 15 minutes and being totally ignored while tables all around us are being served and enjoying their meal? Read a review by a fellow yelper highly recommending the pad kee mao from this location. Since pad kee mao is my favorite Thai noodle dish, I couldn't wait to try it out. I guess when you have high expectations, disappointment will likely to follow. This is exactly what happened. Unfortunately, I didn't think that the pad kee mao is the highlight and I would not recommend. I am pretty sure there are other entrees on the menu that are excellent as this place is aesthetically beautiful both inside and outside. It actually resembles a Thai-esque building.
