Picked up a to go order. Got two different Pho and was good as always. However the Pad Thai was very strange. It had a weird pink color and very strange taste. On top of it all, looked like an omelette. It's supposed to be integrated in the dish. We are there for the first time and found the place very nice and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and had several diners. We were seated right away and had our food served promptly. I'm from out to town and craving for some Asian food. Walk-in and the front desk lady was arguing with another lady about the candies/cookies that were at the front counter. One said to display it and the other said no. They went back and forth for a while. That should've been my cue to walk out away, but I didn't. Tried their fried dumplings. Dry and tasteless. I'm very picky with my Pho! But damn this place knocked it out the park. I was skeptical at first because this is a Chinese restaurant, but man they killed it Chicken Pho was absolutely delicious. My wife and I will definitely be coming back soon. Job well done gentleman. read more

I concur with Paul S. They are in my contact list. There was a time when I was getting takeout all the time... lunch got and sour soup and then more recently for dinner eggplant garlic sauce. I actually asked one of the waiter persons today if they were under new management. Answer, yes. And it shows!!!!!! I spent almost $20 the other night and they wanted to explain to me about their chili oil and when I requested another so that I might actually be able to use the chili's I was charged .50cents. obviously the new management isn't aware that they might want to keep their regulars. I've heard rumor that bonsai took them over. The. Ive heard that they a china bowl have merged. Been to both places unimpressed. FYI...if anyone from chine town is reading this, which I would doubt, I will order one more time for old times sake.. P.S. and you really messed up my order today. Disappointing. Portions were not exceptional large and taste was honestly nothing special. What was infuriating was ordering take out and not getting the entire order ESPECIALLY after asking them to check to make sure I did, I would think a $150 order would be important enough to them to do. We were in the mood for Chinese for lunch and went to China Town for their lunch specials. This place has been here as long as we've lived in the area - 20+ years and it is still good. I got the lunch special General Tso with egg roll, soup & steamed rice. The egg roll was delicious, crispy and fresh, soup was good and my entree was well made, hot and fresh. The only reason I took off one star was the cook was a little too heavy handed with the hot red chile peppers for my taste, it tends to cancel out most of the other flavors. I like a little spice I just wish they would back off on the red chiles a little. The service was prompt and friendly. read more

I rate China Town in Kerrville, TX, as poor at best. I ordered takeout & while I was waiting I asked about adding some extra chili oil to my order. I was told that would be $1 extra, so I declined. Then I saw a small bowl of very small Andes mint candies, with a sign that cautioned to take ONLY ONE per customer. Both these things were insulting to me! I opted to get 2 egg rolls instead of the one egg roll & soup because I love egg rolls. However, they were "spring rolls" & were stale, tasteless & about the thickness of a thumb on a hand. I took two bites & tossed them both. I felt they were bought frozen from the grocery store & were very low quality. The plastic knife & fork were melted, bent & useless. The Duck Sauce & soy sauce condiments were unbelievablly small. My Kung Pao Chicken did have an adequate amount of chicken, but the veggies were sparce. I'm glad that I only got food from there for the lunch price instead of the dinner price because I would be much unhappier about my eating experience there. The whole experience made me feel like the management doesn't care a flip about the customer & doesn't mind insulting them. The very first time that I went to China Bowl was 7 years ago, and it was an awful experience. The food was sub-par and cold, the staff was rude, and I swore I was never going back. For nearly two years, I didn't. And then one day a friend wanted Chinese food and demanded that we go to this one particular place - and it happened to be China Bowl. It was like an entirely different restaurant. The food was hot and fresh and tasted wonderful. The sushi was really good. The staff was friendly and quick. The portion sizes were large enough for left-overs for the next meal. It was wonderful. Since then, we ordered take-out more times than I can count and ate in as well. I can honestly say that after that one single misstep, we never had another problem with the food that we received. It's been good every since, with good service behind it. read more

Tonight I returned for more sushi. This time I ordered the tekka don and an Alaskan roll. Furthermore, I also had intended to order 2 pieces salmon roe nigiri from the a la carte menu but was served a salmon roll instead. Clearly an honest mistake. I didn't complain, I consider myself fortunate enough to eat at all. The salmon roll was very good, for what it's worth - I like simple rolls so I can taste the most important part -- the fish. It tasted very fresh! The Alaskan roll I suppose is really just the same thing except with some avocado and cucumber, but the salmon was delicious again so I was happy. This used to be our go to for Chinese food but the last several months the quality has greatly declined. The egg rolls are tasteless with a mushy center. The last time we ordered Pad Thai the noodles weren't cooked. Got lunch take out today. The House fried rice was extremely salty and had way too much soy sauce. The eggs were scorched. Won ton soup noodles were severely overcooked. I've heard that there are new owners. They need to up their game. read more

This place use to be a good place to eat at about a year ago, but It seems a change of management happened cause the food and service has gone down. I have given this place many shots to redeem itself with me but frankly after today I had the final straw. Between a Waiter telling me to tip about 3 times on a older visit and when I ordering a Eel roll only to have a roll be filled with Salmon with eel sauce was just the end of the line. If they were out of eel they should have come out said "sorry were out can I offer you something else" instead of trying to mask it like I don't freaking know what Salmon taste like.. We are new to the Texas area. Because of the reviews on Yelp! We tried this restaurant. BIG mistake. Without a doubt this is some of the worst service we've received. Let me start with how we were seated. We were brought in and set in the dining area with menus. While we considered what to order, a waitress came by and this is how we were greeted. "Hey, what's up? What kinda' drinks?" We ordered, then quietly went about surveying the menu yet again. When our server appeared (it took nearly 15 minutes to get a server), we ordered two appetizers (crab rangoon, and spring rolls), two dinner entrees - which was served with soup and fried rice. The spring rolls were delicious. But the crab rangoon tasted like cream cheese tar and spoiled seafood. We didn't say anything, we figured that because those around us were enjoying it, it was perhaps a matter of personal taste. About this time, a couple across the way finished eating. They cleaned the table of dishes, but left the tabletop dirty. Immediately after, they seated another couple there, who looked disgusted at the dirty table top. (This was just an outside observation.) Upon receiving our dinner entrees, the house lo mein was delicious but my fried rice was definitely missing. The wonton soup tasted like the onions it was filled with. I didn't enjoy it (again this could be personal taste). My best friend had sesame chicken - it tasted and looked like it had been burnt (I tried it) - so we called the waiter back and he got an affronted look on his face. The conversation went a bit like this. "Well, ma'am, what's wrong with it?" "It tastes burnt. And rubbery. Something is very off with this dish." "Well, next time you should specify if you want white meat, or dark meat." "Excuse me?" "Nothing. I'll take it and remake it." "No, nevermind. We'll share my dish. Just take it off the ticket." When the restaurant owner came out to talk about the dish, we got much of the same reaction. "What was wrong with it?" "It tasted burnt. And a bit rubbery." "Burnt, rubbery? Really? I don't....all right, I'll void it." When it was time for the ticket to come round, the server slammed it down on our table and walked off. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant again, and if you know what's good for you, you won't either. read more
