Best dining experience in Warsaw to date. Honestly. After an evening in the old town for the opening of the Christmas market, my friends and I were in search of a place to eat. We came up empty-bellied after a number of other places. Tired, hungry, and in need of a toilet, we were about ready to pack our bags and was home. The place previous to our arrival was terrible, by ill save that for its own review.
As we neared the end of Nowy świat, I quickly mentioned I knew a Thai place down on Foksal. I'd passed it a number of times on my way to and from a language school close by. We were so happy when we walked by the windows that there were plenty of tables available.
Upon our arrival, we were promptly and pleasantly greeted by the manager. We were seated upstairs at a comfortable table for four. A large party was in the same room, and a few other large parties were downstairs. I was surprised that there weren't more patrons given that it was a Saturday night and the city was hoppin'. Maybe it was a sign of poor service or bad food but not at all.
Placemat menus offer descriptions in both English and Polish. And additional drink menu was brought immediately. My Tuk Tuk cocktail was fantastic and I would totally order that again.
Our server was kind and accommodating. His English was quite good and he more than tolerated my still rather poor Polish. We got our drinks and then ordered our meals. There was no waiting around like in some other establishments in Warsaw, and this speed felt more acceptable to American sensibilities.
I ordered a the lab gai salad, and I think it's probably the best I've ever had. It's my favorite Thai salad, and it offered just the right about of spice. The chicken was fresh and mostly while meat, and the texture was perfect too! For my meal I went with the chicken and bamboo. It was tasty and the portion large enough for two meals.
Bathrooms are downstairs and quite cool and funky! Actually, the style of the whole place was great... Fun, fresh, spunky! This is a pleasant and relaxing space, perfect for larger parties, and the monkey light fixtures are an added bonus!
It was a fantastic dining experience, and I may have found my new favorite place in Warsaw. It's funny too that is has the same name as my favorite Thai place back home. Coincidence? I think not! read more
