This is no longer Mimi's. The new name is Kham Koon Thai Restaurant & Lunch Buffet…read more Today's lunch cost $18.07 with tax (buffet & water) I tried them when it was Mimi's once and didn't go again. I decided to give them a try under the new name. It was no different. The positives is that everyone is pretty friendly and the place is clean and orderly. I will say that both times i went I tried the buffet so maybe the food is tastier from the menu. I tried several different items on the buffet and just found that it really lacked flavor. The best item was the fresh spring rolls but I was disappointed that they don't have that good peanut butter sauce to go with them. Instead, they offer what seems to be a sweet & sour sauce from a jar. The noodles were dry and bland. Both of the curry sauces were watery and didn't have much flavor at all. The meats (chicken & beef) are the typical Chinese buffet style meats instead of pieces of chicken that look like chicken. The cucumber soup and the coconut soup are both savory (just fyi). The mango sticky rice with coconut sauce dessert-not a fan at all and coconut and mango are two of my favorite flavors. Overall, it was a decent experience; no regrets for giving it a try. But, I definitely won't go again. Sad, too, because I REALLY wanted to love it!

I ended up getting the pad thai which was okay. Definitely not the best I've ever had but it was pretty good for Lafayette. I've definitely had better at places where it was more authentic. I also ordered the fried soft shell crab which came with a dipping sauce. That was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend it over the pad thai. I think my total bill for this particular place was $30. I did get this meal to go and even after a 25 minute drive the pad thai was still warm when I made it home. So was the fried soft shell crab. The service was good . Sorry about not having a photo of the fried soft shell crab. It was so good I completely forgot about it taking a pic.

This place is not wonderful, but is clean, popular, & conveniently located for us. Parking is in the slightly peculiar private lot, a few shaded places. May not be open evenings. Check before going. We'll be back. Rick

Ambiance- 2 (10%) very small with only 5 booths and 4 tables. Painted walls and ceiling tiles…read morereminiscent of a school or office. Cleanliness- 2 (20%) The tables on the upside were clean, but if you look anywhere else beware. Dust accumulated for at least a month, does not elicit confidence in eating there. Service- 3 (25%) Giving the service a 3 is being generous- but the waitstaff consisted of two teens and a ten year old boy so I'm inclined to give them a break. I had to wait 5 minutes before anyone helped me. The 10 year old boy was engulfed in a computer game and didn't acknowledge my presence though no one else was there. A 14 year old boy came out eventually and was very pleasant. He took my order to go, telling me it would be at least a 30 minute wait for take-out. An order time of 30 minutes seems a bit long for take-out, but the food came out at the appointed time- as promised. Food- 2 (35%) We ordered the Pad Thai, Basil Rolls, and Yellow Curry Shrimp. Nothing special, temperature okay. Nowhere near what a Thai restaurant should be on flavor. Value- 2 (10%) The cost was $10-14.95 on entrees. Didn't really have it going on for Thai in my book, so the value is not there.
