I mean she was friendly but when I told her I didn't like it she didn't offer to trade it out. The shrimp were over cooked. The sauce was just bad. Thai Kitchen does a lot of things unfortunately none very well. The menu is extensive covering many types of sushi from nigiri to common and unique rolls to Thai curries and stir fries. They also boast a large drinks menu. The menu is huge, so if you're dining with a large group with varied taste and on a Sunday (as there are few options for dining out) then Thai Kitchen might fit the bill. We had the crispy tofu nam sod which was the only highlight of this lunch and was unique in the very crispy fried lardons of tofu and clean fresh flavors of ginger and lime, however we were given almost inedible pieces of tough cabbage with which to eat the nam sod. We also tried the Tom Yum soup which while having numerous shrimp was greasy and tasteless, which was the same for both items of dim sum we ordered. My partner ordered sushi which never arrived and we had to ask that it be removed from our bill. The service was swamped as there were only 2 servers with a large party and many tables. The servers were friendly but several things were missed. I wouldn't recommend Thai Kitchen if you like Thai food, even on a Sunday I'd suggest making the effort to find another spot. read more

First time trying curry and the yellow curry did not disappoint! The cabbage rolls were great, the spring roll was tasty and fresh, the sashimi was delicious and fresh. it's okay. there aren't many good thai places in baton rouge, so i decided to try this out. i got the lunch special drunken noodles. i got takeout. it comes with an egg roll and soup! i got the chicken lemongrass, which was similar to a tom yum. it was good: sour and sweet, with mushroom and chicken. the egg rolls were very good, filled with cabbage and maybe a meat and super crispy. the drunken noodles however, were so greasy! flavor wasn't bad, and i liked the veggies in it but it was covered in oil. also the portion was kind of small. it was only okay, i might try to order something different next time if i'm craving thai food. otherwise, meh. read more

Looking for a decent Thai restaurant in Baton Rouge. Thai Kitchen is definitely not it. The place is large and clean. We were greeted and seated quickly. Unfortunately, service was painfully slow. The first round of cocktails was pretty good: I had the Garden Martini, and she had the Tiki Twist (a real girly drink). We had a second round of Garden Martinis, but they were not nearly as well-made as the first. The appetizers were pretty good: shrimp toast and fried shrimp. We were starving though. My entree came out well before hers: I had the Green Curry Shrimp, and it was delicious. She shared it, as she was waiting for her dish. We waited way too long for her entree, the whole cooked red snapper. By the time she got it, it was so overcooked to be inedible. We mentioned this to the server, a diminutive Asian lady, and she just said "that's the way we make it". If so, they can't sell very many of these, and only once per customer. We won't be back. They feature a lunch buffet, which is a good way to try out a number of dishes and become familiar with Thai cuisine. In the evenings there is a fairly extensive menu to choose from. I personally like the noodle dishes, like Pad Thai, or Silver Noodles. There's lots of other things to choose from, like curries, stir-fries, and rice dishes. Keep in mind that in Thai cuisine, when something says it is spicy, they are not kidding about that! Service is always great, and prices are very reasonable. Given the proximity to the College Drive Exit on I-10, Thai Kitchen is even a good choice for people passing through to stop by on their way. read more

This is a cute little spot off the beaten path. A couple of my friends had taken me for my first visit here and the portions were great. The food was amazing and the ambiance was both casual and romantic. First let me start by talking about the ambiance. When you first drive here you can't imagine how nice the place is Inside. The inside is full of wood carvings a huge bar. The tables are super ornate but the place is very bright. Why romantic then you may ask? Because the outside patio area is beautifully lit up and there is a waterfall. Nothing you would expect but awesome. I have officially had the best papaya salad of my life, man. Yo... like I could drink the dressing juice alone by the cup!! It's so dang delicious.. light, citrusy, spicy, umami, salt and sweet tang.. with delightful strands of green papaya and carrots, green beans, tomato.. topped with crunchy peanuts. I selected medium spicy which was the right call for me. Oh my lord, if only I lived in this town... this restaurant would be frequented by me once a week. Nice and clean place but the food was a bit on the disappointing side. I ordered a Thai tea and a green curry... I'm going to have to give this a 2/5 for the curry. Most curry has a distinct taste that is the same at most Thai restaurants, this was completely off and different. Just by looking at the picture it looks like there was a ton of grease and oil that just sits above the dish. I can't quite explain the taste but it was not with $14, sorry. All lunch special come with a Thai egg roll and your choice of soup or salad and a entree. I recently went at lunch and ordered the cream of coconut chicken soup, yellow curry with chicken and potatoes I got spice level 3 but I love heat so I should of got 5. You choose the protein and the heat level on your lunch special. I had them bring me the trio of pepper spices. I'm the kinda of girl that always wants it all, lol so I also ordered a side salad with ginger salad dressing. Well I absolutely hated their ginger dressing it was nothing like the Japanese versions I'm in love with. As a drink, I started off with the lychee martini so good and strong. As appetizer, I had the tom yum (lemon grass soup) and the tom kha (cream of chicken coconut soup). The tom yum was spicy so be sure to tell them your spice level and the tom kha wasn't super spicy but you can add it but it was my favorite. We also had the volcano roll. Their sushi was okay to me. Well, I'm so glad I found the new Thai kitchen-I tried the papaya salad that was the special for that night. As always they asked me how much heat I wanted. I like things spicy so I got medium hot. This salad was great! Full of papaya green beans and marinated cabbage like slaw and peanuts and a tasty spicy dressing. They give you cabbage leaves and lettuce leaves to use as wraps.
