A Rule of Tum Burger Shop - The menu is simple but I like it

A Rule of Tum Burger Shop

Where to begin with this place? It really is incredible and every bit of food was so tasty! Rule of…read moreTum isn't your typical run-of-the-mill burger joint. First off, you'll notice simple, but sophisticated, decor in the restaurant. It's an old building featuring exposed brick walls, hanging lights, and hand-fashioned wood stools and tables. When it comes to environment/atmosphere they've definitely nailed it! As for the burger - my wife and I both had the Hereford Hop burger and it was insanely delicious! The beef itself is tender and tasty. The patty is formed gently rather than being smashed together, so you get the full texture and flavor of the beef. This particular burger comes with local Hereford cheese, onion rings, a mustard/mayo, and served on a fresh brioche roll. Literally, it's mouth-watering! We also tried the fried cheese curds and the sticky wings and both side items were LIGHTS OUT! The chicken wings were slathered in a BBQ sauce and I'm not lying when I say they were legitimately fall-off-the-bone tender! The breading provided a perfect crisp, crunch on the bite and with one bite all of the meat came off the bone easily. The cheese curds were also incredible and a must! All in all, you're expectations will definitely be met and I would say this is the best burger place in town.

My first thoughts of rule of Tum was the size of it. I had to share a long table with two customers what I personally didn't enjoy I did ask to move but we couldn't but this in no way ruined my time at these burger joint I also loved how I could see the kitchen. The staff were very friendly and fast responding . I ordered a burger, sticky wings and a coke after a short wait the food arrived. The burger was amazing, it was good quality and quantity, it didn't fall apart. The wings...they were something else, by far the best wings I've ever had. The chicken fell of the bone so easily, the sauce and spice was delicious you must get the wings. I would most certainly go here again.

The decor was quite fitting for a steak house, lots of leather and deep red material haha. We had to wait about 5 mins to be seated which was odd considering it was empty (we went about 4.45pm which is why it was quiet) but other than this, the service was great. We had a couple of gins, and the waiter fulfilled other halfs request for soda and cucumber with his though he thought they didn't have any cucumber in the kitchen. The starters were great, I had the tempura king prawns and other half had the pork belly. Both were absolutely lovely and came very quickly. For mains I had the 8oz sirloin and other half had an on the bone rib eye. Each steak comes with a lettuce wedge which was a little odd. Nonetheless I had bacon and honey mayo and the other was garlic mayo and Parmesan. These were ok I guess but at the end of the day.. It was a wedge of lettuce. We also ordered sweet potato fries and these were lovely, and also a mashed potato which i loved as it was very like the one you get in Nandos lol. Ordered a lobster tail which was well cooked and also some garlic mushrooms which were nice and fresh and covered in loads of melted garlic butter. On the plate was a kind of deep fried onion log.. This was kind of strange and like the lettuce wedge.. Didn't really add anything to the meal. The cut of meat I had was ok. Quite tough but they do provide you with a steak knife so not too much bother. I asked for it blue which is always a risk in a restaurant as you tend to either get it cold or over cooked. I had high hopes for Miller and Carter but nope. It came cold. Come on you guys. You are a steak restaurant !! You should be able to provide me with a warm steak. I know cooking blue is hard but if I can manage it I am sure you can too. Each steak comes with a blob of garlic butter on. Other halfs was melted all over his steak while mine remained in a solid block kind of indicating to the chef that my steak probably wasn't that warm.. But never mind. I would come back and give it another go, hoping that as this place is still quite new these may just be a few teething issues. Will choose a different steak next time !

The food and coffee were both great and it was so fun to sit and visit in this cute shop. If you're ever in Hereford or just passing through. This is a great place to visit. Surrounded by boutique shops, other cafes and a great looking cheese shop, it's out of the way and easy to miss. It might, however, be the best place in the whole town to get brunch. After walking around Hereford for half an hour on a Saturday morning (it's a small place), we'd given up on finding somewhere decent to get breakfast. It was only by chance that we decided to take a shortcut back to the car that we ventured up one of the small alley ways off the square towards the cathedral that we found La Madeleine. The main room is small and is overlooked by the small kitchen at the back. Filled with a mix match of wooden chairs and tables, the dining room is comfortable and would be great place to meet up for breakfast or take a breather from shopping. The real draw is the small garden at the back. Secluded and lush, it's a brilliant hidden oasis in the middle of the town, and a perfect place to sit out. We both ordered eggs Benedict which was very good. Served with bacon as opposed to ham, and a slightly unusual, buttery hollandaise, it really hit the spot. Two eggs Benedict and two strong coffees came in under twenty quid. La Madeleine is open Monday through Saturday for breakfast and lunch, and is licensed. It loses a star only for not being open on Sunday when we wanted to come back with the rest of the family.

There's recently been a whole load of new development in the city centre giving way to this place, other restaurants, shops, cinema and even a waitrose. The area is lovely, very modern and clean. Considering it's been around for about a year, the place still looks brand new ! So.. Chimichangas.. I had great expectations of this place and upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our seats. The interior is done well, spacious and modern with plenty of booth seating as well as tables The menu was pretty extensive offering all sorts of Mexican favourites (fajitas, burritos, quesadilla) as well as various meats and paella etc. Prices are not cheap but are fair. Good drinks selection too and a great cocktail menu. The food came and I had opted for a chimichanga considering I hadn't actually had one of these before. Other half opted for enchiladas. You could choose from a variety of meats as filling so I went for the pulled pork which I haven't eaten for about a year so had good expectations and other half opted for beef. Great portion sizes, both of these meals came with rice and black beans which were lovely. In terms of the actual star attraction though.. The meat didn't really taste of very much.. It was stuffed full of fresh veg etc. But it kind of felt like I was eating nothing.. This may have been a one off though and I am more than willing to come back and try again!! We still left happy and with full bellies so not all was lost. Regardless of experience this time, j love Mexican food so much I have a feeling this may become a regular stop for me when I am in town !
