We were puttering around Chinatown Market when we decided to grab some dinner & discovered Thai Better. Little did we know, Thai Better is part of a chain with 2 other locations in Utah. The menu is easy to follow with simple offerings. I had tofu pineapple rice, my husband had red curry, & we shared a side of chicken satay. It was all hot, fresh, & delicious - very flavorful. We enjoyed the casual dining experience & colorful surroundings. Staff was attentive. I would recommend this place particularly to those with heat/spice intolerance (you can add more or less heat/spice as you wish) or who are starting to explore Thai dishes.

Five years later we are back and eating inside. We loved this place so much we made sure to put…read morethis on the itinerary for spring break. This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. If you happen to stop by the largest Costco in the world, make a pit stop here to refuel after all those steps.

You have to know what to order here or be looking for authentic food. Here is the thing that makes…read moreme happiest. I love the fried rice. I couldn't tell you what they put in it other than to tell you, it doesn't matter. Well I could tell you that it has green onion and char siu. The thing I order every single time is the beef roll. It is an onion pancake wrapped around beef, cilantro, and green onion with a delectable sauce. I can't stop tasting it. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the noodle dishes. Be prepared for a culinary adventure, you won't be disappointed.

Valentines dinner never felt so special. For an occasional like this, my date and I ordered more…read moredishes than normal and some were a first for us. First, was the Poor Man's Noodle. What an incredible dish. The slight spice and abundant flavor in every bite makes me want to go back just for that. The Panang Curry was tasty and well done but it did have a slightly overpowering taste - we deemed this to be from the fish sauce. Still recommend, but not quite as smooth as other Panang Curry we have frequented. The Khao Ka Moo and Yum Woon Sen provided some variety in the typical Thai Dishes and they were phenomenal as I attempted to broaden my Thai cuisine palate. The variety of food choices gave off an authentic experience when paired with the traditional Southeast Asian decor found around the walls and ceiling. I sat near a wood panel divider that separated us from the front door and it provided exceptional separation from the happenings at the front of the store despite us being rather closing to the register and door. The service was slower than expected but the house was packed and our original server was sent home after a burn from the kitchen so they were understaffed on an absolutely crazy Valentines Day night. My Fiancé and I highly recommend this restaurant to all!

Great portions. The flavors of the poor man's noodles were very good but slightly bland. The…read morenoodles themselves were cooked very well. The edamame and calamari were good too. Easy to walk in on a Friday evening for a group of three at ~7 PM. Service was very nice; however, our table was blasted with cold air every time the door to the entrance was opened, which was a bit uncomfortable.

Five stars for this magical keto paradise that somehow managed to trick my taste buds into…read morebelieving cauliflower can be fried rice without filing a formal complaint. I mean, who knew a vegetable could cosplay as carbs and actually pull it off? I ordered it fully expecting to be disappointed (because let's be real, cauliflower has betrayed me before), but this stuff was legit fire. I almost proposed to the plate. The food overall? Stupid good. Like, unfairly delicious. Portions come in "medium" and "large," which I appreciate because apparently "small" is now a hate crime against hungry people. Both of us demolished our meals and briefly considered licking the plates, but we're classy... ish. Service, however... honey, the servers must've been trained by sloths on Xanax. I think our waiter teleported in using dial-up internet. At one point I wasn't sure if he was our server or just a very committed performance artist practicing the art of disappearing. We got our food eventually, though, so I'll let it slide (this time). Ambience? It's giving "dentist's office that secretly serves banging Asian food." Quiet, clean, zero frills, fluorescent lighting that makes you look like you need vitamins. But honestly? I'm not here to be romanced by chandeliers. I'm here to inhale keto fried rice without spiraling into carb shame, and this place delivered. 10/10 would awkwardly hover near the door waiting to be seated again.
