I really wanted some fried rice. So, I got sesame chicken with fried rice. They have lunch specials, that really drew me to them. I don't want to spend $20.00 for lunch. This was $10.00 GPS was trying to take me to the building in front of Public's. But it's in the same building as Public's By the UPS store and Great Clips I was greeted as soon as I came in. The dryest red curry I've ever had. Barely any sauce. I got spicy, but can barely taste any spice, it's maybe the equivalent of a 2 or 3 out at another restaurant on a scale of 1-5. The dish also has mushrooms and cilantro which is a little weird, but I can deal with that. It's the dryness that makes this dish inedible for me. I tried and got about half way, but I seem to have eaten the tiny bit of liquid I had with my dish already and I used it sparingly with my rice as there was barely any to begin with. I'm not sure why this place has such rave reviews by people. If you like authentic Thai, this is definitely not the place to go. Chicken wasn't very good; pork was very tender and good. My issue with both dishes was the execution; instead of adding the cilantro leaves to the Pad Thai, they just threw the entire sprig on top. For the Panang Curry, the vegetables were gigantic chunks; would've been better if they were diced into easier bites. Pricy for the portions. The Fried Egg Roll were nothing but under cooked wrapper with nothing inside. Tom Yum has none of the standard flavors or even lemongrass in it. No alcohol or soda fountain, so drinks are bottled water or cans of soda. They were accommodating in making my Thai Basil chicken a bit spicier and with the veggies I wanted, but the only rice available is Chinese white rice; poor substitute for jasmine rice. Rather disappointed. Yes, it appears to be a typical strip mall quick Chinese place like many Public shopping centers now have but they also have Thai dishes, I presume because the owners are Thai. The interior is bland, small, and typical to this type of Chinese take-out, but I only hoped the food to be decent. For that matter, I only stopped here because I'd been to a basketball game at Oakleaf High School and this was about all that was open that I knew of after that game was over. They're doing a lot of construction right now around Oakleaf and if you're not from the area it's nearly impossible to navigate at night. However, one gripe is that in the past, we've waited way past time for them to deliver. Anywhere from 30 min to an hour *over* their estimated time. So we stopped ordering for awhile. Today was the first time we ordered in probably years, because it was my birthday and I had a taste for it. Everything was fresh, delicious, and it was here under an hour. There are coupons on the menu for an appetizer or 2 Liter soda. My favorite is the chicken and broccoli. In the Oakleaf PUBLIX strip mall, seems more suited for take out that dining in the restaurant. Small kitchen appeared relatively clean but certainly not spotless. Employees appeared disinterested and more focused on the TV. Curry was good but not enough chicken meat although it was not overcooked as is so often the case. They only have white rice, no brown. Egg rolls were uninspired and Tom Kha Gai soup was fair, mostly broth and not enough coconut milk.
