This place can compete at the highest levels when it comes to Thai cuisine in Jax. I stand behind them. Snapper was fried beautifully. I ate the tail so it was fried right. Thai Tea was sweeter here but paired well with the spicy sauces they brought out. Tons of veggies as you can see. Service was spot on. There's a reason why I keep patronizing Lanna Thai and it's because the food is so good. The Tom Kha (coconut soup) has the perfect balance of sweet, savory, creamy and textured. I seriously can eat this every day and the portions are generous. They do it right here! The fried calamari appetizer recommended by my server was cooked perfectly. So tender and flavorful and I would definitely order this again. The Curry Dumplings appetizer was very filling and had a complex blend of spices and richness. This appetizer was so comforting and satisfying and enough to share with others. The Drunken Noodles were good and although I'm accustomed to a more wet and saucy version of this entree, their version was still delicious, but different from what I've had. I ordered it with shrimp, but I probably should have gotten the beef. I will try that next time. Their Pad Thai was also tasty and the portions are very nice so menu items to me were worth it. However, the Lunch Specials are a great deal if you happen to go during their lunch window. The service was fast, friendly and efficient while dining-in and calling ahead for take-out was also a great experience. Very pleasant waitress, Pad Thai chicken sauce was very good. They did run out of the regular thin noodles, but she did ask us if this was ok to order with wide noodles while we were ordering. Mmm, mmm, mmm! I could not say enough good things about this place. I tend to have a hard time eating curries because a lot of places put cow milk in them, but they make theirs with coconut milk, the way it's supposed to be. I've been here a few times, and haven't had anything that I didn't like. Including chicken sate, spring rolls, Panang Curry, Massaman Curry, Pad Thai, and I just tried the basil rice. I think this is under new ownership since the last time we came. The waitress/host Petchie has a great attitude and was great frequently checking how we were doing and refilled our drinks The food was hot and in my opinion some of the best I've had there in a long time. We had fried bananas which is a dessert and is little bananas rolled in a lumpia wrapper and fried. Served with dallops of whipped cream. My wife had Scallop Bang Bang. She liked the size of the scallops and they were cooked and a sweet/sour method on veggies which she liked. She also had the rice and chicken soup. It's a simple recipe but tasted really good especially since it was 36 degrees outside. There was a lot of chicken in it too so it's a well loaded soup in a large bowl. I had Drunken Noodles with pork. An unusual flavor that I can't pin down but I really liked it with large flat spaghetti type noodles. We stopped in for lunch today and I was starting to get hangry, so we opted for the lunch special and the chicken rice soup was exactly the thing to take that edge off. Very generous amounts of chicken and rice. That with the Thai Tea, Curry Dumplings, & Pad Thai made for a sumptuous repast at midday. Service was, as always, wonderful. I stopped in just to grab a quick bite and treat myself to lunch and it was a delightful break to my workday! The restaurant was quiet but there were about a dozen other patrons. I got my usual Pad WoonSen when I go to Thai restaurants because a)... I know I like it and b). I know how to pronounce it. The staff was very quick to bring me a menu my drink and shortly after I ordered I got my starter ... chicken and rice soup. Staff was very attentive and friendly. I told my server I would like it medium spicy, however it was pretty mild. I wish they would keep true to their spicy scale. It's 1-10 I ordered a 2, and my shrimp pad thai is really spicy like an 8! It was hard to not have my eyes watery while I ate it. A friend visiting from Arizona wanted Thai food because she said she didn't get to eat it much where she lives. We looked on Yelp and Swarm for a Thai cuisine restaurant that would be near us and found Lanna Thai. What a hidden gem! Even the entrance is nicely decorated. The food was superb. I was able to order items without onions (allergy) and my friend was able to get tofu. The Pad Thai was delectable in a tamarind sauce. My fresh veggies with chicken was light and tasty. The chicken satay appetizer was excellent and the dessert, sticky rice with peaches, was luscious. Friendly service and reasonable prices. It's all good! (My photos are of the food to-go. You're watching a stage show. You're there specifically because of the lead actor. However, something is off. The set has been saturated, amplified, and over-designed to the point of being gaudy and offputting. I went to this Thai eatery for a "basil fried rice" lunch. It was around Thursday noon and a couple of other tables were occupied. I drank water. The dish arrived with ingredients that were lubricated to the max by Thai chili paste (oil). It felt like eating regurgitated food. I don't need to eludicate, just see the photo (which shows that much oil even with most of the food already eaten). I came very close to letting my inner "Bob Ross" urge--Thai food style--take over. Of course, one tragic result was the star of the dish (hint: it's the Thai basil) unable to shine. A normally bright/aromatic plant but, this time, had been cruelly drowned in a sweet liquid. As though the chef had physically used his own two hands to squeeze the life out of the poor herb, until only a few degenerated and dispirited leaves were left to pity this customer. read more

We went when this place first opened! Having been to Thailand, we thought the food, the service and the atmosphere was ON POINT. We used to go at least once a month then we heard the owners sold the restaurant to locally. Tried again but in my opinion, a change of head chefs made a huge difference. This place was amazing.., now it has gone down hill fast .. there was a change in staff or ownership and food has suffered bad. Like with most Thai restaurants seem to have good reviews from most people that are completely unaware of the quality of eating American butchered Thai food. I ate the volcano shrimp at $24.95 it's was a pile garbage of my plate .. "jumbo prawns"= Tiny frozen shrimp vegetables= frozen bag of nasty vegetables Sweet and sour sauce that was a soup of god knows what ... I'm done spending good money on garbage restaurants that expect a tip for delivering junk food to your table! read more

This was just another fine example of previous people who reviewed this restaurant and not knowing what Thai food really tastes or looks like. Over priced to make you feel like you are getting something authentic. People have written reviews for a lot of Asian restaurants in Jacksonsville and they have been extremely misleading. This only tells me that the majority of folks have never even been to a country in Southeast Asia and truly experienced the cuisine and/or just accept what is placed in front of them and say it's great.
