Adorable restaurant! The woman working was wonderful, she offered me a free Thai Tea and chatted with me while I ate. I tried their Thai papaya salad which was a large portion, vegetable soup that reminded me of clear soup with tofu and crab rangoons. Hate to do this. Thai Aroy Dee just isn't very good. I've had it a number of times now, thinking that the day I got it they were just off their game. Unfortunately, 3 times is a trend, and each time it has been really bland, no matter what we get. The people are friendly, however. So that is a feather in their cap. I don't really have much to say or add here. Thai Aroy Dee is a 2.5*, rounding up or down whichever you prefer. Gosh, what a strange place and a disappointment. I had read the reviews and knew I was walking into a small restaurant that presumably did a lot of take out business. I was shocked on a Saturday night at 6:30 that it was 100% empty. They showed us to a table and put lovely menus in front of us. We brought wine and beer, they asked if we wanted glasses and we accepted. They brought glasses with ice for the beer. Weird for sure, but we dumped the ice in our water glasses and carried on. Upon opening the menu there were a series of inserts and additional papers. One was to warn people that they have to pay for their food even if they don't like it. The other was to tell me not all dishes were gluten free. There were a few others like specials. So I said to our waitress, "I see your note about gluten-free, can you tell me which items on your menu are gluten-free?" She told me "none". I said well I understand that you probably can't guarantee GF kitchen but are all of your sauces made with flour? She said "I don't know, the chef just said no gluten free". So I asked if it would be possible to speak with them. A woman came out and glumly asked me what I needed and I told her I don't have an allergy, but an autoimmune problem and I was looking at what options I had that didn't contain gluten or share a fryer. She told me I could have steamed vegetables. At this point I just didn't want to have to be the reason all four of us have to leave and go elsewhere. Ok, I can live with that. I asked if every sauce and curry was made with gluten she said no that the curry was fine. It was a longer conversation but that's the gist. Her answers had to be pulled out, she clearly didn't want to accommodate anyone. So short story, I found something after all, but it was super unpleasant. My husband ordered chicken satay for an appetizer and a peanut dish for dinner as well. The descriptions sounded vastly different but he swears it was the same sauce. So he basically had chicken and peanut sauce then more peanut sauce. He was disappointed. Our dining partners had similarly mediocre dishes. The bad attitude, the lack of care and the preemptive warnings to limit complaining should have been a red flag for sure. Food quality is average. I ordered takeout. Pho and wonton noodle soup plus an appetizer. The won ton noodle soup description says it comes with "egg noodles, bbq pork, shrimp dumplings and bok choy". I got straight jipped! My order came with a small container of broth, carrots, bok choy and a few dumpling. No bbq pork, and NO egg noodles. The place was dead empty when I picked up my food on a rainy Saturday evening. Come on man! First and last time ordering from here. After reviewing my receipt, I also noticed the menu pricing isn't accurate either. My number one rule of Yelp is: Would I go back? For Thai Aroy Dee, that's a No. It could have been better. There are plenty of Thai places in Delco and we happened to pick this one because of proximity. We've tried Heng's and Viman and a few other places, and have had Thai dishes at Chinese and Pan-Asian spots too in the past year. Those dishes at other places were far superior to what we had here, and those were just basic dishes. While the online ordering process and pickup were OK, the food was the letdown. We picked the tulip dumplings to start. Think shumai as the equivalent. These were OK but not worth getting again. For entrees we sampled Thai Fried Rice, Pad Thai with Shrimp and Pad Thai with Tofu and Chicken. My wife loves, loves, loves shrimp. She gifted me half of her leftovers. That's not a good sign. Both pad thai dishes just didn't have much flavor. You can still do flavor with a mild dish but these didn't have it. The chicken looked and tasted like it was breaded. The tofu was firm and didn't really absorb much of the sauce. The fried rice was OK but I wound up just finishing it with some soup. It didn't stand out flavor-wise until I added some chili sauce to it. Parking was convenient and I didn't have to wait too long for my order. Overall: No, we wouldn't go back. Plenty of other Thai places to choose from including newer spots in Havertown and Drexel Hill plus the ones mentioned above. read more

I read some of the reviews about how basic the food is but decided to give this place a try anyway. I'm just sad. Everything we ordered was pretty flavor-less. We got tulip dumplings, crispy duck pad thai, chicken pad kee mow (drunken noodles), a chicken eggplant stir fry dish, crab Rangoon and a side of brown rice. We were excited about the crispy duck pad thai but the duck was dry and overcooked. Just nothing special about every single dish. I added soy sauce and some sweet chili sauce I had in my house to the dishes to make them have flavor. We were planning to have leftovers for the next day but no; we'd have to doctor up the food too much. As my entree, I ordered the Basil Fried Rice with chicken as my protein and medium spice. It had a pleasing appearance, with nicely sliced apples. I have to agree with my Yelp friend, P.E., this place is 3 stars, maybe 3.5 stars. Tried this place tonight because my go-to Thai place was closed. They have a good selection on their menu, including all the Thai standards, as well as some unusual dishes, like wild boar, and Yakisoba noodles. But to compare apples to apples, I went with Drunken Noodles, which is my standard when I crave Thai. We got everything to go, but when we opened it at home it didn't look promising. Just not the fresh happy food I am used to from my local Thai place, or two new ones I've recently enjoyed in NJ. Still, I reserved judgment for the taste. It was a Drunken Noodle taste, but a little on the cafeteria food side, meaning it tasted like a batch had been made up and this was spooned out from it, after sitting a while. Noodles were more brown than I am used to, like they'd had time to marinate in sauces rather than just being thrown around in seasoning. The noodles were also shedding some of their taught form, breaking apart a little, and getting mushy. Broccoli looked like it had been frozen. Just not what I am used to. My husband said he needed to salt his curry, which he's never ever done before. The mango sticky rice was very good in flavor, but the mango had some bruises on the underside, and elsewhere, was really light colored, like underripe. But it tasted good, so it was more presentation. Prices were on par with the other Thai places in my recent experience, but I'd have to say portions were probably the smallest of all of these places, and quality was definitely lower. If you have a Thai craving, Thai Aroy Dee will satisfy, but in a basics way. Nothing will wow you, and there are a lot of options nearby that will provide a better experience for the same price. read more

I have NEVER had a bad meal here. The lunch specials are outstanding. The service is friendly and fast. There are maybe 5 the places near me and things one is a constant treat. The curry chicken, the woon Sen, the pad Thai. You made it. I really have not much else to say. They have exceeded my expectations time and time again. It totally hit the spot for me and I wish I had ordered more. It was perfectly seasoned with a nice, sour, refreshing taste and not too spicy. The minced chicken was mixed with a variety of spices and it made for such a nice dish. I could have drank the dressing out of the bowl! We have continued to come here and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Our favorites are the Bamee noodles, the pad Thai, and general Thai chicken. We also often order the Penang and massaman curries. Thai food can be pretty spicy and they will ask how spicy you want it. Medium spicy can be pretty spicy to proceed with caution because if it is too hot for you, it's on you as the warning in front of the menu states. We avoid the Penang now since they continue to use the frozen veg. Service on our last few visits has been less than stellar. read more

So the lady goes to the back for another lady to come out with an attitude no no only cash ATM across the street.. now if it was really across the street I may have been willing to compromise BUT IT WASN'T.. I had to put my daughter back in the car and drive to a bank that wasn't mine just to accrue fees just to go back and try it again (NOT HAPPENING). Now this cash policy would have been fine if on the window of the restaurant it didn't display all major credit cards.. In conclusion.. I was looking for something new to try and found this place in the mix of Yelp reviews. I stopped in Sunday night to give it a try. I love Thai food and was hoping this would rank up there with some of my favorites. The reviews looked great so I decided to give it a try. Overall it was ok. Nothing that really blew my mind. I was the only customer there and was able to sit wherever I wanted. The service was good. I had ordered the Tom Kha, Beef Salad, Gyoza Dumplings, and the Drunken Noodles. Whenever I order Thai, I need to order the Tom Kha. I am a hug fan of this soup. Unfortunately this was the one item I ordered that was a total disappointment. It seemed as though it was watered down. You can see in my picture that it had clumps of white stuff floating around in the soup. Normally the broth is smooth and creamy. This was not. Everything else was "ok". Nothing really stood out. The dumplings were a little dry and it was hard to taste any flavor. I asked them to make the salad extra spicy and they nailed it. The drunken noodles were also good. A 3 star review isn't a bad review from me. It means they were good and I recommend them if you want a quick fix. 4 stars would be exceptional and 5 stars is mind blowing. If you live in the Drexel Hill area, go ahead and give them a try. *edit* Those of you who gave this place raving reviews, I recommend you get out there and try some of the other places that I have reviewed. What really got me was how the one waitress, Mae, really encouraged me to try other things as opposed to just letting me get the common item among customers, pad Thai. Love this place. There are so many great options but in our house the Crab Rangoon are the clear star of the show. They are masterfully formed and the bit of curry creates such a wonderfully savory taste. My partner loved his Crispy Duck Pad Thai. The Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles didn't disappoint. It's an unassuming spot, with plenty of parking. It's BYOB, and the server was amazing about filling up our water as we ate and sipped our wine for 2 hours. When I called to order the tofu pad Thai with no egg, the person suggested no fish sauce, to make it truly vegetarian/ vegan before I even had to ask! Some Places make you feel like this is a hassle. I do like spice, but the medium spice was too hot for me. I would recommend mild spice that you can taste the other flavors. I REALLY want to try one of their desserts. We had been going here for a couple of years pretty regularly and loved the food and the service. About six months ago, we went here and the food was okay but the service was mediocre. We decided to go here tonight for my birthday and we had a table of 14...to say that I am disappointed is an understatement. We sat down and were served glasses of ice...no kidding, no water. We had wine but had to ask for glasses (and we were brought 6 glasses for eight people)...the worst thing (maybe) was that we had two people whose entrees weren't made...when I asked (because I love to go and ask ), they seemed surprised. Um....14 people, 12 orders. I have waitressed in many restaurants. The owners need to train the staff...the food is decent but the staff is seriously awful. They had awesome staff before. read more
