The most delicious prosciutto and mozzarella and mushroom flatbreads
    MaDonna W.

All things delicious this catering company supplies the best and the most beautiful display of foods. Last night they catered a party with the most delicious paella! The most creative martini mash potato short rib bar... with all of the Little extras that go with it( Bacon crispy, onions , red peppers , Parmesan cheese) And delicious hot prosciutto flatbread pizzas and mushroom flatbreads. The bar was set up beautifully and the staff had generous pours flowing.... Champagne , wine , beautiful cosmopolitan cocktails in the most gorgeous glasses.... If You are in need of an outstanding catering company- " thank goodness it's Sophia" is the company you need to call.

I got the opportunity to visit the TGIS (Thank Goodness It's Sofia) HQ for a food tasting. TGIS is the one stop shop for catering for your upcoming event. This is also a family business. George, the CEO, gave us a tour of the facility and the options TGIS can do for your event. They can do boxes meals to plated options. I also loved the grab and go option! This team is diverse in experience, culinary skills, inclusive of celebrating cultures though different dishes, and mindful of dietary restrictions. We also loved how they shared where their food comes from here in the state of CA. If you're looking for a catering company that can also support sustainability practices, TGIS is your team! They showed us their compostable plates and utensils. I love this option. I'm happy to say that I personally booked them for our upcoming event next October! The process of booking was easy and transparent. Staci is a wealth of knowledge and made sure to listen to our needs. I'm excited to write an updated review next year about our in-person experience! If your company is looking to do a tasting, contact them! The team will welcome you with open arms.

I hired TGIS catering for my wedding on 10.12.13 as they were a preferred caterer for my venue. All in all, I would hire them again as we were, for the most part, very pleased. Mark Rivera is the contact for weddings and he is prompt with communication and sent us the various food menus and pricing quickly. This is an extremely well-priced caterer for all things considered when it comes to weddings and the variety of food options is endless. They do a once a month tasting event for potential clients which my fiance and I did attend since food quality was right at the top of our list when it came to spending money on our wedding. We were very happy with the food we tried at the tasting so went ahead and decided to book with TGIS. They use a event production company (Signature Event Rentals, see my review of them separately) to bring in all the tables, linens, tableware, glassware, utensils, etc. so we had to have a meeting at the venue to go over everything a few months in advance (take note brides: another day off off work). My original quote for 75 adults and 15 kids (4 buffet-style stations and 3 passed apps) with all the linens, tableware, etc. included was $7500, exactly what I wanted to pay (~$100 pp). However, once the meeting with Signature happened, the price escalated to $12,000 because they now informed me that they have to build a kitchen on site and there are a bunch of other odds and ends that weren't in the original quote. Luckily, Mark was able to work with me and we got the final quote to be $9,000 (I had to give up a few things and TGIS lent Signature their stove ad made some other concessions) but that was so much added stress with the back and forth of red lining quotes that was SO not needed for this poor bride. I do have to say that TGIS more than made up for the price difference with how happy my guests were with the food and the added effort from their waitstaff to help my mom set up, break down, and clean up the reception area. They also let me bring in all my own alcohol and provider a bartender to serve it. This was a huge cost savings and the bartender was even so accommodating to make my signature drinks with the recipe I provided to him. Reviews on the food itself: We were SO happy that TGIS could accommodate our wishes which was to have food ready and available for people to grab and take so they could mingle and chat (both with the apps and with the buffet stations). We also wanted a lot of variety from different cultures and vegetation options as well which they delivered on. Passed appetizers - loved all 3 of these! I could have eaten them all night long!!! 1) SPOONS OF SOFT POLENTA topped with Maple Glazed Duck Finished with Caramelized Onion Confit And Chives 2) FRESH PEAR TOMATO BRUSCHETTA with Yellow and Golden Halves Tomatoes Over a Herbed Ricotta Served atop a Char grilled Ciabatta Finished with Balsamic Syrup 3) SPICY TUNA TARTARE served over a Crispy Wonton with Creamed Wasabi, Soy Sauce and Topped off with Black Sesames Buffet-Style Stations: 1) RISOTTO BAR MARTINI - Tossed With Choice of Parmesan or Gruyere, Sherried Mushrooms or Creamy Spinach, White Wine and Lemon Chicken or Garlic Marinated Shrimp, Finished With White Truffle Oil Accent. This was so popular at my wedding, I didn't event try it. Lots of people were telling me to just cut the line but I was so full, I just waited for cupcakes :) 2) TACOS LOCOS: A "NAM" GOOD TACO - Caramelized Pork Belly, Cilantro, Pickled Carrot and Jalapeno Finished with chili crema or a green chile glazed tofu and veggie taco with Avocado Cream And Feta. The pork belly taco was so tender and delicious! The tofu was good too but the pork belly just hit it out of the park 3) "CURRIES AND OTHER SAUCY SLOW BRAISED MEATS - Chicken Tikka Masala in an East Indian Creamy Tomato Curry Served With a Naan Triangle or a thai tofu green curry with Thai Chiles, Shallots, Garlic and Lemongrass With a Splash of Coriander makeup the base of one of Thailand's Most Famous Curries This was probably the least impressive of the 4 stations but enjoyable. 4) THE CHEFTENDER SALAD - Salted roasted yellow beets and wild arugla salad with pistachios and Valbreso Feta with a White Balsamic Vinaigrette and a Mediterranean ceviche salad cocktail in a martini glass with Fresh Shrimp, Artichoke Hearts, Green Olives, Garbanzos, Buffalo Mozzarella, Red Peppers, Shredded Cabbage, Tomatoes, Capers, Hearts of Palm, Avocado tossed with a Lemon Shallot Dressing and Pita Points My husband loves salad and beets so this station was necessary but glad there were two choices and one was ceviche to satisfy my love of seafood without breaking the bank. So for the price and quality of food, I would definitely recommend TGIS to other brides, just beware the hidden costs!

I wasn't expecting fried chicken, but I have to say this place offered way more healthy options and variety than I was expecting. The highlights of my experience were the fried chicken, corn bread, and the super cheesy mac n cheese. The herbs and the crispiness of the chicken was definitely a league above any thing I've had at fast food places that serve fried chicken. The seasoning was done just right without any of bit of saltiness. I am not sure what kind of cheese was used, but the mac n cheese had a firmness to the cheese that was refreshing (I don't like my mac n cheese too runny), and the flavor profile of the cheese tasted of a high end caliber. Corn bread was just the best darn corn bread I've had, with mild sweetness, strong corn flavor, and even good bits of corn mixed in. Very moist and tender, yet crumbles a bit when you handle it. Mixed greens were crisp and fresh and really balanced out the meal with much needed fiber for me. I felt the mushroom and string beans were pretty good, but nothing earth shattering. The shrimp on skewer sticks I felt were a little dry and plain so I don't recommend this as highly as the other items. Sheperd's pie was made from a ground beef layer along with a top layer of mashed sweet potato. The potato layer was very delicious, but the bottom meat layer could have used a little less salt IMO. Overall I had a very positive experience, and even my kids sampled a little of everything. They echoed my sentiments, except for the sheperd's pie, which my daughter was not a fan of.
