HyperSwole is a local owned Sports Performance Gym (Owned and Managed by Jacksonville Axemen…read moreMatthew Thornton). Matt Thornton is the Head Strength Coach/Program Designer for the Hyperswole Sports Performance Gym. HyperSwole also has Chris Philips (ONNIT Certified Trainer) and Sean Rutgerson (Head Coach for Jacksonville Axemen/USA Hawks Rugby League Teams). All the coaches are always available and approachable for Fitness Programs, tips, personal training. Hyperswole is not your typical gym. From a quick glance you may think that the gym is intended only for the hardcore fitness\gym fanatics. While the gym does have dedicated members, HyperSwole Sports Performance Gym has a program for every one regardless of age, fitness level and goal. The daily group fitness classes (that can be signed up online/mindbody app) are also posted on the main gym monitor. KidSwole Classes for ages 7-14 are held M,W,F as well a new offering for Senior fitness classes. You always have the option to follow your own workout OR work with one of the coaches to develop a custom tailored workout to meet your fitness goals. All of the artwork around the gym is by Coach Matt. It adds to the uniqueness of the gym and compliments all of the familiar gym equipment. There are rowing machines, xbex bikes, LifeFitness Resistance machines, cable cross-over machine, dumbbbell free weight area, squat and press rack area, and a dedicated deadlift area. Also available are heavy punching bags, weighted/fitness balls, kettlebells, boxes, monster tire/hammer, plate weighted push sleds and even an indoor basketball hoop! As the COVID-19 Pandemic is top of concern with many, all of the gym members and Coaches follow the best practices of proactively sanitizing equipment before and after use. The small group classes also allow to spread apart with space for each participant. While the gym can be busy at times, it is never overly crowded to the point where there is a concern or you have to wait a long time for equipment or machine. This is especially true for typical the peak times of other gyms or fitness clubs. HyperSwole also allows members to additionally sign up for 24 hour gym access (for those who prefer to work out on off hours or at their convenience). Definitely worth a trial! You can always stop by and talk to Matt or one of the coaches with questions. For an idea of workouts or more details check out the website hyperswole.com

Fitness by Fronk - cool personal training studio name and great staff! Think of a Concierge type…read morefitness "studio" which is primarily focused on delivering personal training in private and group "packages" in the areas of cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance drills, interval training and nutrition. Fitness by Fronk also offers Kinstretch, Circuits and Unlimited Classes as well as unique personal fitness assessments like (1) the functional movement screen and (2) Titleist Performance Screen for golfers. This personalized training offered by a young staff of Certified Personal Trainers, Nutrition Specialists and CrossFit Coaches is pricy but well worth exploring if you are seeking one-on-one and/or small group training shadowed and directed by a Certified Trainer. I was fortunate to meet with Tammy who explained to me that all the Certified Personal Trainers are independent consultants and work with members individually to develop packages that help them further their fitness and nutrition goals. Tammy also gave me a tour of the studio which is equipped IMO with the bare essentials like dumbbell racks, bench press benches, treadmills, gym rings- probably more stuff but those are the items that stood out. This is a very unique personal fitness studio model which differs from my experiences with other fitness centers and gyms. I'm big on entrepreneurship and Tammy was very matter-of-fact helpful in giving me a good baseline of decisioning info - with this positive experience, I see possibilities here and encourage you to check it out if interested.

If you're serious about growing physically and pressing past your boundaries safely and professionally, this is the place for you! Led by owners Catherine and Patrick Henigan, their passion and dedication set the tone for a phenomenal experience. The atmosphere is welcoming yet you immediately feel a sense of responsibility to put in work - bring your best. The best part? This facility has a smalltown feel with everything you need to bust your ass and breakthrough to the next level. There are no frills or places to hide. In Catherine's words "this is YOUR workout!" Excellent instruction is provided but the rest is up to you. You have to want it and if you do everything you need is there for you to break past what you think you're capable of and exceed your own expectations. I took the Booty Bootcamp class on Friday evening then got all bold and took the Striking and Conditioning class Saturday morning. I can say that both were tough for me but in the best way! I love the one on one attention to form and how I'm allowed to realize my own potential. Sure I was pushed beyond what I thought I could do. However there was a space where I saw that I needed to decide what I desired because that will help my trainers to better assist me in getting there. I showed up wanting to improve my health by improving my body. I left knowing that there's much more to this for me than that. I'm up for the challenge! It's all about smaller classes for a more personalized and individualized approach. There are also semi-private and private training sessions available in addition to Bad Ass Barre. It's been just about 7 months since the doors opened and I know Jax Fitness Academy will be around for decades to come.

Completely humbled by the hour long session here. Made me realize I'm not in as good as shape as I thought I was.
