Free street parking. Bonus points for sure This place was very lovely, you ring the buzzer to get buzzed in and you get to explore the wonderful creations from so many artists using many styles of art. These were like some I have never seen before and it made me realize why fashion icons love their work. It was neat and clean, and customer service was informative read more

This was a very interesting experience. We came here for a birthday party and honestly i was amazed on what they had to offer. The birthday party made bandanas using smashed flowers that were picked from around the building. The gift shop was very clean and had a lot of different items to pick from. The staff everywhere was very nice and friendly . There is also an art gallery which was neat to look at. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different or that is used to this type of hobby. read more

If you're into weaving or fabric or experiencing artsy things in general, definitely come to this textile center! There are lots of pieces to look at with detailed descriptions included! They have classes available, I saw two rooms filled with looms that made my heart happy as well as a basket weaving class with a Mexican food carrier in to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! There is also a cool, little gift shop! read more

If urban scavenging and crafts are your jam, you'll love the annual Textile Garage Sale put on by the Textile Center. Nothing is more refreshing than to watch dozens of mostly women flip though patterns, peruse magazines, and forage through mounds of yarn, fabric, and more. It's even more fun when you are part of that throng. Pluses are spotting patient partners, who are mustering their utmost courage to stand by their beloved and also hold all their found treasures. You can go early on a Friday, pay $25 and first pickings. I thought I was losing out by coming out on a Saturday and paying a buck for entry, but still found AMAZING THINGS. Vintage wool and silks in pleasing patterns and a boss ikat scarf. All for $30. Easily would have cost me over a hundred bucks. I'm pretty sure they were putting MORE stuff out throughout the afternoon. If you do have stashes of fabric, yarn, or patterns, this is the perfect time to unload. Face it, that bolt/spool/machine is pretty cool but you're never going to do anything with it. So why not let someone who would use it come across it? You will be like an anonymous fairy godmother. You will need to patience and an allergy pill. Also it's BYOB (bring your own bag). Location varies; last year it was at the Textile Center, this year it was at the UMN ReUse warehouse. But if you are a crafter, it's totally worth it. read more

I ride by this place on the bus everyday to and from work and finally stopped in over Christmas to check it out. Wow! They had a great holiday artists' market set up with wares from many local artists. Scarves, kids' clothes, jewelry, ornaments, etc. Some things were a little spendy but definitely worth it due to the quality. They also run some great classes for reasonable prices including a class on upcycled materials. Sounds awesome! read more

This was my first visit to the Textile Center. I saw the Prince themed exhibit and all of the.quilts were amazing. The area was brightly lit from overhead lighting and the floor to ceiling front windows. There is an amazing shop close to the front entrance. They have a library and classes. read more

I went to see the Artists in the Kitchen exhibit. This is a beautiful art show where artists where connected with chefs; the art pieces are very creative and unique. It runs until May 19. Take the green line to the Prospect Park stop and the Center is right across the street. Lots of other fiber and textile stuff there too. read more

Looking for a gift, a class or art - this is the place to stop. Add to the experience by joining and you can even check out books. Great place to take an out of town guest. There is always something interesting to see and do at the Textile Center. read more

Textile Center is a national nonprofit dedicated to honoring textile traditions and promoting excellence and innovation in fiber art. The center serves over 150,000 people every year through educational programming, exhibition opportunities, and community outreach. Textile Center offers support to fiber artists, textile art guilds, and fiber art collectors. Membership has grown to 900 individuals and 39 guilds and businesses, representing a collective membership of more than 7,000. History

Established in 1994.

Textile Center, located in Minneapolis, is unique as the only Twin Cities' center for fiber art. Fiber artists and visionary arts patrons started the organization in 1994. Before Textile Center was founded, local artists and guilds operated in isolation and faced limited opportunities to exhibit work, expand participation, or pursue advanced training. Textile Center's first decade drew disparate groups into a coalition and answered fiber artists' need for space to meet, exhibit, teach, and learn. The successful effort to identify and unify a base of fiber art practitioners and supporters resulted, during our second decade, in large-scale expansion of membership and enlargement of our space. Textile Center's facility, located in Minneapolis' Prospect Park neighborhood, opened in 2001 after a successful capital campaign.

Someone reminded me of this newish gallery that I had heard about but hadn't been to yet. Thank goodness for this place! They have art and crafts made by local Southeast Asian artists that you can buy in the spot. I bought some lovely drawings by Tori Hong for just $30 each. They also have a good stationary selection. I got some thank you cards that say "thank you" in Hmong! I saw aprons with Hmong designs, cute pillows, stickers, mug coasters and more. The space felt airy like a gallery and the folks running the store were super friendly. Do you need gifts for friends, family, or coworkers? Are you needing things to make your office space or retreat space more fun, colorful, & inviting? If yes, you def got to check out XIAART & support some awesome local artists at the same time. I loved these figures that were formed from piano parts. Much of the art was created from things we might consider trash but to Allen it transforms into beautiful, and sometimes odd, works of art. Allen's imagination is limitless. I enjoyed seeing something from afar then stepping close to it to see individual screws, bolts, brushes, computer keys, or syringes. So cool. I also enjoyed meeting Allen and seeing him practicing his craft. What a fun place and gracious host.

I took a group class at Northern Clay center and it was amazing! We had 11 brand new students…read morelearning about throwing pottery for the first time (so we all needed individual attention) and the instructor was so friendly and able to help us all! I thought maybe we would each make one piece, but we each got to make 4 or 5 bowl-like objects (you got to pick) and to paint them. We also used the break room to order food, since pottery in the morning was hungry work. Northern Clay is giant inside- I had not idea looking at it from the street. There is a parking lot right by the building, so you don't have to worry about street parking. We had a great time, and will be back to pick up or art in 3 weeks! I definitely recommend the group classes or private parties, which came out to ~$50 per person.

The pottery is grouped by artist, which made it easy to limit my browsing to only the styles I liked. I will note that (at least on the day I visited) they very heavily feature artists whose style is natural and rustic, which isn't bad, but for the prices they charge I was looking for something more sophisticated. I know all pottery takes a lot of work, but I'm not going to spend $80 on a misshapen mug. The items do focus pretty heavily on dishes and cups/mugs, which made gift shopping a little difficult, since I wasn't about to buy a surprise dinnerware set for someone. The person manning the front desk was very helpful and brought out more pieces from the back room of artists I liked. She was also able to share with me which pieces were and were not dishwasher safe. I left with a good selection of gifts and would definitely come back again.

There are also individual art spaces that people rent to create their work. I have met a few artists who were there working while I was viewing some paintings. It's also a space where people gather for writing workshops, tai chi and other events. Outside there is street parking right out front, and places to lock up your bike. There is also a tiny library stand, where you can borrow a book. Take one and leave one for someone else to read. Enjoy this gallery monthly for a different experience each time.

That, a high back armchair that has seen better days, an old Sleep Number mattress that has been replaced by a new mattress, and some miscellaneous foam strips that I tried to use to stop the trough in the middle of the Sleep Number air chambers had to go. I reached out to Junk360 via their website request for estimate and got a prompt response. A couple emails later a pickup date and time was set. On the day of the pickup I received a call, as I was told to expect, telling me they were on the way. The crew was on time, professional, courteous.
