Yes, I understand we all have opinions, and obviously, this review is not for heterosexual couples. My company is progressive enough to cover my domestic partner and the children of my domestic partner. I took my two kiddos and partner in for an eye exam. They all have different last names than me. The doctor must have noticed that because when he took our 14-year-old daughter back, he started questioning her about the relationship and who the mom was. Who I was in relation to her. It was just a very awkward conversation to have with any patient. Let alone a 14-year-old girl. I get people committing insurance fraud. But, call my insurance company after the visit. Don't question a young girl. Yes, I took into consideration that my 14-year-old could have been dramatic. But she has never said anything to this degree about any other appointments or doctor visits we all attend. Again, the front desk staff is great, and again, I'm sure "normal" families have more than a great experience here. This review isn't for the "normal" families.

After discussing with my husband his experiences, we noticed that it was different from mine where his optometrist placed the photos on the screen and deep dive into his eyes, while I never discussed mine. I had an overall good experience and I understand if people make mistakes. But it rubbed me the wrong way when I had to reach out days later when I wish it was proactive on their part to make sure I was getting the service that I paid. I wish they called me to inform me first about the mistake versus finding it out by my husband days later that I had to call. Imagine if other people paid for the service without even getting the true service done. I still overall had a good experience with everyone with the friendly staff and I'm glad the optometrist spoke with me over the phone about my eyes, which then informed me I needed to see a referral. Each step of the process was seamless. The staff is treated well, and it shows with how they treat customers. I observed them going above and beyond for myself, as well as other patients. In particular, Des is an absolute stand out. She is excellent in her role and clearly knowledgeable. With that said, each member of the staff was noticeably engaged in their job and eager to help. In regard to Dr. Davoodi, her expertise and communication skills stand out. She understands how to speak and engage with patients in a way that makes them feel comfortable and well taken care of. It has been hard to find one in the Houston area and I'm glad we found it. We came in for my husband's exam, but ended up getting a new set of glasses for my daughter. They had these cute glasses for kids with cat ears and since they were so great with my husband I decided to get her another pair of glasses. Dr Chen was knowledgeable, pleasant and I could tell he was focused on the customer experience. He took time to double check her current prescription and make sure everything was perfect instead of just rushing the process. There was also someone at the front desk that helped adjust my daughter's glasses and she was very helpful. She showed my kid how to properly take off her glasses and shared what kind of frames she should get next time so they do not slide down her face. I appreciated the time she took to do this. The office is in the Woodlands and I live in Cypress. Even though it is far, I will return for my own exam and glasses.

First, I was charged an additional fee that was not covered by my insurance, but no one informed me about the extra charge beforehand or asked for my approval. In my experience, if there is an additional charge for a service that insurance does not cover, the patient should be informed in advance and given the opportunity to approve or decline the service. More concerningly, they took my glasses to measure the prescription. When my glasses were returned to me, I noticed a very noticeable scratch on the right lens and two lighter scratches on the left lens. I immediately pointed this out, but they denied that the damage had occurred while they were handling my glasses. Every time I went out of the house I cleaned my glasses and inspected them carefully, there were no scratches there before. For the first time in my nearly 40 years of wearing glasses, my glasses were scratched by an eye care provider. Although I ordered these glasses last year, they had been kept in their case because I was still wearing my other old glasses. I have only been wearing this pair for about two or three months, and they are still relatively new because I am a very careful person when it comes to my glasses. Because these are rimless glasses, I take extra care when handling and cleaning them. I paid approximately $400 out of pocket after insurance for these glasses, which have progressive, high-index 1.67 lenses. I'm very upset and saddened by how this situation was handled. I'm considering seeking help to determine what consumer or regulatory remedies may be available. I will not be returning to Glimpse Eye Care. They have lost my family's business.
