I'm not a fan of chains but I couldn't find any locally owned restaurants nearby. Texas Roadhouse was recommended by the hotel and is a busy place. There was a little bit of a wait but not long. Warm rolls are brought to your table when seated. Kyle was my waiter and kept my tea full and even got me a new steak when the first wasn't the way I ordered it. I went with the Dallas Filet but whatever I was brought out first was a well done sirloin. My replacement was not cooked as long but still not really a filet quality but much better than the first steak. The baked potato and Caesar salad were great and the rolls. The steak was ok but not the quality I expected. Overall this is a good option in Gastonia to dine. read more

Came to this location for the first time pretty busy Sunday typical around noon. Wait time for 2 was minimal 5-15 minutes. Checkin host was amazing greeted everyone with a smile & efficiently. Waiting section inside is way to tiny for the weather and all the elderly anyways. Hanna was our server absolutely phenomenal! She was on top of everything had great suggestions very accommodating for the requests when they didn't have the first option requested. She didn't rush us through anything was very patient funny & kind. Felt like we was visiting a friend instead of just a server doing their job. Definitely will be back and requesting her EVERYTIME. For my daughter's birthday she wanted to go Texas Roadhouse and since we're all in love with their yeast rolls this was a no brainer. Upon arriving it was a packed so a little of a wait but that's expected but once seated we were promptly greeted and drink orders was taken and 2 bread baskets was placed in front of us. I ordered the BBQ chicken plate and steamed vegetables and my wife and daughter split a plate of ribs and steak and bowl of chili. The chicken was juicy and not over cooked and the vegetables was cooked to perfection. My wife really enjoyed her ribs but said the chili was just a tad spicy but was food. Went to Texas Roadhouse for the first time and was really pleased with the whole experience! When you enter the restaurant on your right is a meat counter that has tickets on the outside glass that correlate to a steak in the counter with the same ticket. You can choose from a hand cut steak from 16-26oz or you can order from the menu. I chose a 16oz NY strip and my guest had the 26oz steak - the largest one! We were seated and a if you happen to sit in Nick's area you are in for a treat. He was just awesome! Helpful with menu selections, drinks and sides. He served us promptly and checked back just enough for us to know he was there, but not intrusive. It was nice when Jonah, the manager, came to the table, asked me if it was my first time and made sure we were satisfied with our meal. Several people were celebrating birthdays and it was a nice vibe in the restaurant. You do have to wait a bit, as they are cooking these steaks to absolute perfection. Mine even had a char on it that was amazing!! Don't pass this place up whenever you're on the mood for your next best steak!! First, and last, time to this store. Sat at the bar, not all that busy before the big dinner rush. Fairly prompt welcome from the bartender Mikaela, and then that's when all the good things stopped happening. Ordered the 16 ounce prime rib at medium temperature. Had the house salad and broccoli for my sides. Salad came out after about four minutes. The prime rib showed up less than two minutes after that. I was concerned about the temperature of the meat given how quickly it came out after being ordered. It was nearly rare. I couldn't get the bartender's attention for more than 15 minutes because she was dealing with another upset customer who didn't have a properly cooked steak, and then trying to figure out why Angry Orchard was coming out from the Bud Light tap. The gentleman to my left sitting next to the service station was dealing with insects crawling on the bar. By the time Mikaela got back to me I was thoroughly disgusted and had no interest in eating anything else. I spoke with the manager, who confirmed the stake was still rare. She offered to take it off the bill. Imagine my surprise when I got the bill and only 50% was taken off. I didn't fight it because it was the only impossible to get anybody's attention due to having to switch all of the beer taps around because they were all incorrect. The rolls are good, but not that good. Go to outback down the street, or Cracker Barrel across the parking lot. read more

While I've experienced both great and not-so-great service in the past--such as one visit where our table was never cleared, leaving a pile of dirty plates and empty glasses--about 7 out of 10 times the service is outstanding. Our waitress took 20 minutes to even come take our order, another 10 minutes to get our drinks, food finally came out and they didn't have all of it, asked 4 times to get more bread and she never brought it. I'm writing to share some concerns regarding my recent visit to your restaurant on July 22, 2025, which unfortunately fell short of expectations. We arrived around 7:30 PM and didn't leave until after 9:15 PM due to multiple delays and issues with our meal. While the restaurant was understandably busy when we arrived, it slowed down considerably soon after yet the service and food quality remained disappointing. * Our appetizer was served cold, and we were unable to speak with our server until about 15 minutes after our entrees arrived which were also prepared incorrectly. * My steak was cooked incorrectly not once, but twice. Even after a recook, it still wasn't right. I ordered it medium rare and have pictures for reference. The steak bites were given cooked wrong twice. * I ordered a loaded baked potato and a sweet potato. With the recook, I was brought plain foil-wrapped potatoes with no toppings, despite paying extra for the loaded option. These were brought to me by the manager, but by that time I didn't have the opportunity to eat them. * Our server was polite but clearly overwhelmed. It took nearly 20 minutes just to get his attention, and our drinks sat empty for much of the evening. After our order was taken, there was minimal follow-up or check-in. * Most of our time was spent simply waiting on food, corrections, or any assistance. The table by us had similar issue. While we did leave a tip and paid in full, our experience was frustrating and far below the standard we've come to associate with Texas Roadhouse. We're not writing to ask for anything for free, but to ensure that management is aware of what happened so that improvements can be made. This dinner was meant to celebrate a special occasion I had just graduated with my master's in nursing and I specifically chose Texas Roadhouse to mark the event. It was extremely disappointing how the evening turned out. We hope this feedback is taken seriously and that steps are taken to better support both the kitchen and wait staff during busy hours. When leaving reviews, I really like it to be "balanced" (pros and cons....IF any cons.) I genuinely cannot think of a pro.....the women's bathroom was pretty clean I suppose, restaurant was overall pretty clean. (Minus the men's restroom, my husband said the floors had puddles of water from the ceiling leaking.) As a former waitress and current restaurant partner; I really HATE to be negative towards places, but I was flabbergasted by this TXRH. I worked at the Roadhouse in Tyler, TX throughout undergrad and grad school. I've NEVER seen a roadhouse so dead, but after eating here - I can see why. Upon entering, the host never looked up from her phone. I had to grab her attention after standing in front of her for 45-60 seconds. Rolls were rock hard - not the waitresses fault, but we kindly asked for a new batch since they were too hard for our toddlers to eat. She brought a new batch, but those too, were hard. Unsure if they've been sitting out since opening (an hour before our arrival) or what. Manager didnt seem to take any Initiative with guests. Never saw her greet any tables. I watched her stand and chat with the host and then sit on her phone through the alleyway door. She was also VERY slow to get anything done. The table next to us complained that she never came back with.....whatever sauce they wanted. Service was next to terrible. The whole place had maybe 7 tables. I don't know where our waitress kept disappearing to. I had to hunt turn to another waitress for a refill after 20 minutes. After paying, I asked our waitress for a refill of milk for our kids. She assured me she would be right back - 15 minutes went by. I continued to wait. Unsure of whatever happened to her. I turned to the on duty manager for a refill. Again, another 10-15 minutes for milk. I don't understand since there was almost no other tables in the facility. read more

First off, the staff is amazing. Very friendly, polite, and fun. It is also a cool atmosphere. For this, five stars. Where it fell short was the food. I got the grilled BBQ chicken that was $13.49. I expected a nice portion but instead, I received a FLATTENED small piece of chicken. It was dry and rubbery. I asked the server if it was fresh, frozen, or old. He said it should be fresh. I didn't want it so the manager kindly took it off the bill. My friend got the baby back ribs, which we shared and it was good. The bread was so good and the sides were ok. Overall, the staff and atmosphere were great but the food was overpriced and not impressive. Unfortunately, I don't think we will return. read more

I'm absolutely disappointed in the service today, I had ordered a replacement meal 3 different times, first time I ordered I got a bacon cheeseburger and I had 2 hairs in the burger well I sent it back, the 2nd replacement came out and it was raw and I mean like the top and bottom of the patty was cooked but for some reason the middle of the burger was RAW it's like you just pulled it out of the package that's how raw it was, I ordered medium well and the burger was not at all the the manger Ally wanted to argue and say well that's what you wanted, um no ma'am i said medium Well not medium raw there's a difference so we sent that burger back and at this point I didn't eat, we went out for my farther in laws birthday. The only reason this isn't a 1 is because our waitress was great. I had a party of 8, it was a birthday celebration, it was a busy night, I understand that. But after checking in on the app, confirming on the phone, showing up early when they told me to, waiting an extra 48 minutes, they put a party of 8 at a table that can barely sit 6. When I talked to the manager about it, she very rudely said "I fit 8 in there all the time, deal with it or get back in the queue" (for an hour and a half...) 3 of our party had to go sit at the bar just so they could have a SEAT! The manager was not helpful at all, and the birthday was off to a terrible start. The ONLY redemptive thing about it was the fantastic waitress we had, she was kind, fast, and always there when we needed more break or drink refills. I wish I remembered her name, because she deserves a promotion! If it wasn't for her great service, we likely would've left. Again, I understand this is a busy store... but when someone calls, checks in online, waits almost an hour EXTRA, you should give them the table they reserved, not a booth for (maybe) 6 kids. If you want good service, go here! If you want a comfortable seat where you can eat without bumping your neighbor... don't go here. My experience upon arrival to this restaurant celebrate my youngest daughter's birthday was horrible My oldest daughter checked us in the people at the check in counter 1 in specific was Ashleigh supposedly had taken her name. Asked how many people we told her four. She said wait in line and as we waited in line they were taking people first come first serve but two other people groups came in after we did and we're standing there waiting at the front of the line and they take them before they took us which was so disrespectful. So I approached her and asked her what was going on and why somebody coming in after us get seated before us when they just signed in as well after us she said we'll get you guys seated now. She doesn't need to be at that front counter. Neither does the little other young lady that was with her with braids. They were not personable at all. Acted as though they didn't want to be at work. First impressions are everything you need better greeters at that front door. Now I will say Ryan our waiter I give him a 10 out of 10 he was 100% he was phenomenal. He tended to us as if we were customers of your establishment. Very personable. Great attitude and you can tell he liked his job. This visit was for my Birthday. Just me and my Mom. She was treating me for dinner. We had a nice time here. They sat us near the bar. The place was pretty busy. My Mom loves the fried onions and ordered them for us as a appetizer. They were pretty greasy but they were good. We had actually had a waitress and the bar tender to serve us. Have to say service was very good. If the waitress was busy the bartender made sure to come over to see how everything was. Steak was cooked perfect. We both enjoyed our dinners, no complaints! Worst experience I ever had at a Roadhouse. Waited 40 minutes after ordering and was finally given a cold steak and potato. Sent it back and waited another 15 minutes before paying for my salad and beer and leaving. Complained to the manager as I was going out and got eye roll and attitude.
